Letters Between Master And Diciples

My Conscience Urges Me To Practice

First of all, thank You sincerely for bestowing upon me Your love and blessings, sending me News magazines, and writing back to me. Each issue of the magazine is like nectar for my heart; and Your letter is the timely rain in strengthening my faith.

Ever since I finished reading Your book -- The Key of Immediate Enlightenment, Book 6 -- I began to switch to a vegetarian diet and keep the five precepts. It is rare to encounter an enlightened Master, and it is not easy to seek the Truth. Now that Master has already selflessly bestowed the greatest love upon our suffering world, those with conscience should not have any more doubts or hesitation.

Presently, I am practicing the Convenient Method at the Seoul Center. On the day that I learned the Convenient Method, my wife called from mainland China to tell me that she had already begun to keep a vegetarian diet and the five precepts on a regular basis. Ever since I switched to a vegetarian diet, I have been making international phone calls once or twice a week to my wife, telling her about Your holy teachings. Originally, I only expected her to support my becoming a vegetarian. To my surprise, in a very short time she also accepted Your teachings! It is really incredible! My wife used to love eating meat very much. Without meat for two days, she would be unable to eat, yet feeling starved and voracious for meat. However, now she even is determined to keep a pure vegetarian diet! She had not even read Your books and seen Your photos, let alone listened or watched Your audio and videotapes. Everything was due to Your love, granting her great blessings!

I have realized that the more difficult one's environment is, if one is really sincere in seeking the Truth, the more blessings -- more than doubled -- that You will bestow upon that person. After believing in You and keeping a pure vegetarian diet, even though we live in different countries, yet whatever we do, is all done smoothly. Moreover, various miracles have happened to us! We both have truly experienced Master's boundless love and power.

When a living Buddha lives in this world, it is the best time to practice spiritually. I must cherish this valuable affinity and opportunity. Meanwhile, I also sincerely pray for my wife, hoping that she will have the opportunity to learn from the living Buddha and receive initiation as well.

Today in our phone conversation, my wife told me that she received Your books which I had mailed to her...and is reading them! When she read that a Master has to suffer various kinds of tortures for the sake of delivering sentient beings, she couldn't help crying on the phone. I was so touched that I almost cried as well!

Master's Wonders

The Meaning Behind The S.M. Celestial Jewelry

One night, before going to sleep I meditated. In
my meditation, Master showed me the Celestial Jewelry bracelet
inlaid with diamonds. The glimmering gold set with brilliant dia-
monds was so extraordinarily unusual that it rocked my heart and soul.
The positive vibration emanating from it moved my being and warmed my
heart.

In my meditation the day before the Celestial Jewelry exhibition, the same
bracelet was displayed before me; this time it was amidst the vast, boundless uni-
verse. The golden bracelet transformed itself into a very long golden track. On the
track, myriad twinkling planets lined up in an orderly fashion, one after another. Master
accompanied me to visit the immense starry sea. The journey enlightened me more, and
the experience was incredible! Each one of the diamonds inlaid in the bracelet represented
a strikingly beautiful, self-radiating planet. A golden track, like a traffic network, en-
circled and revolved around the planets tightly. This golden track symbolizes the inti-
mate brotherhood of the universe that can never be severed.

Master brought the Truth from the spiritual world into our material existence,
allowing me to understand the real meaning why She designed the S.M. Celestial
Jewelry -- it was because "we are all one". She reminds me that the wisdom
of our true Self is like a diamond, forever brilliant and shining. The heart
longing for the Truth must be firm and stable. In handling matters of the
world, we have to be like the quality of gold, flexible, pure and
tender. Then we can flow harmoniously and be connected in
any situation.

Adapting To Different Situations

A while ago, I had a hard time finding a job; I wondered why I was not able to find even a simple job, considering all my work experiences. Later, I reluctantly accepted an offer to teach an evening class for those who wanted to take supplementary courses.

After taking this job, one day I took the opportunity to go and meditate at the meditation center. During my meditation, suddenly I was enlightened; the long time depressing knot in my heart was finally untied. Invisibly I got a revelation: "I will give love to others and take good care of those around me."

That same day happened to be the Dragon Boat Festival Holiday. I was thinking to myself that I was all alone, away from my family. In past years, some fellow practitioners always lovingly gave me some "zong zi" (a pyramidal shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves, usually eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival) to eat, but this year it seemed unlikely that I would have such good fortune. Unexpectedly, as I was leaving the meditation center, a sister initiate on guard duty stopped me and gave me a "zong zi". Immediately my heart was filled with warmth; I was deeply touched that Master was so attentive and caring of me -- She even had a "zong zi" ready for me to celebrate the festival. I am so touched by Master's meticulous love and more determined to try hard to put Her teachings into practice.

That afternoon, after going back to work, a former colleague of mine who had already left her job, came to visit me. With excitement, she told me that she had a magical, yet vivid dream. In the dream I brought her with me to go to visit Master, and we went to a transparent and shining bright palace. Master happily walked down the long staircase to receive us. She had a graceful bearing and looked as young and beautiful as a girl in her youth. Her hair was long and black; Her lips were rosy; Her skin was snow white and translucent; and Her eyes were big and fathomless.

Another colleague of mine who heard the story with me invited me on that occasion to have dinner with her. During dinner, she asked many questions concerning spiritual practice and meditation. In our conversation, due to the blessings from Master's inspiration, we talked very congenially. Even I myself was surprised to discover that I was able to explain such a string of hows and whys. Instantly, a wave of inexplicable love filled my being, surging tempestuously within me, leaving me shaken for a long time.

I left my job soon after. During the period of time that I worked there, in addition to the miraculous incidents of the above mentioned colleagues, another colleague spontaneously decided to keep a vegetarian diet. I came to the sudden understanding that, sometimes temporary difficulties are not necessarily tests; we must always keep our faith and think positively to allow Master to make use of such opportunities to teach us and to enable us to become efficient tools in spreading the message of the Quan Yin Method. If we practiced more diligently, we would be more able to receive Master's invisible messages. Thus, we should be gentle and try to be more open in accepting various situations in life, "adapting ourselves to different circumstances without fear"!?

The Song Of The Angel

I was going to sing a song in the programme. On the night of the performance, a wonderful power filled me completely, enabling me to carry off a singing technique that I had never known before. The feeling of longing for the other shore was expressed spontaneously and completely. Fellow practitioners praised that I had sung well. I myself was also surprised at how wonderful I had sung. It looked like God had worked through me to sing this song because I had never known this singing technique before.

Thinking back several years ago, in a ceremony of national royalty to the Republic of China organized by the six Central South America countries, I was arranged to sing a solo at the ceremony. The audience was Chinese from all six countries of Central South America. Among the audience were six ambassadors from the Republic of China. Unfortunately, one week before the performance, I caught a very bad flu, coughing non-stop. It was impossible for me to sing, but Master's loving power was working on me although I had not yet been initiated. I could only prayed in my heart, asking Her to help me finish the performance. A wonderful miracle occurred: My voice range was better than usual, louder and clearer! Even I myself could not believe it!

Simple Joy

A local child found a Korean coin on the road and ran over to give it to sister Chiu.
To reward his virtuous deed, she gave him and his friends all the blessed food she had
brought with her. The children were so happy that they jumped with joy and
shouted: "O-cuin! O-cuin!" (Thank you! Thank you!)
Children's minds are clear and pure like the
sky; everyone loves their inno-
cence and simplicity.

 While people worry about world-war and possible collision with comets,
 You're proud to become again a donkey.
 Driving your ex or post-divorced around the polluted city
 Shopping for nonsensical items, staring at strangers, window nosing,
 or such "exciting" activities
 Or just to "relax"!
 Oh! I can just well picture the boring-image
 Day in, day out,
 How you spend your useless time (anyhow)!

A Saintly Way Of Living

We have no right, no right absolutely to damage, to spoil, to ruin this only house for the whole population of the Earth planet. You don't have the right to ruin any corner of this world whether you like it or not. And in the name of meditation, of a practitioner, don't make yourself a laughing subject or a degrading subject for other people to look down upon. Whatever you do, you represent the Most High; because we follow the highest path, we worship only the Most High. So we have to represent Hirm in speech, actions and thought -- at least, speech and actions. Though people do not know much of what you think; but at least your speech, your actions are easy to detect. So please remember this.

Now, it is similar to inside progress. Sometimes we think we have already improved, but actually in many other corners of our soul, our spirit is still not yet looked after.

The light and the sound are the elements inside that cleanse our souls and our thinking. Our virtuous life will be more evident after we practice the light and sound. But the outside also we should take care; because the more we are elevated, the more we see that cleanliness is necessary. It is the way of life. It's not that someone is cleaner than the other, or someone loves more cleanliness. It is the inner, the inner expression of beauty, virtue and Truth -- the saintly way of life. We should live a simple life, not the poorest life. A simple life, not a messy life. Simple is different. If you happened to go into my tent, or visit my tent, my tent is just like any of your tents but it's spotlessly clean. Everyday it is cleaned, everything is in order. It's not that it's too much order like I have to measure how many millimeters I fold my blanket and things like that. But it just looks beautiful and comfortable. Very inviting, very welcoming, very warm; and you know that it belongs to you.

Be Consistent Within And Without

I am also very sorry every time I have to point out to someone, specially the close disciples, how dirty they are and how messy they've made their environment become. But I have to do, someone has to do it for you. Do not say that I am too over critical. I just want to point out to you that your level must match. Inner and outer must match because we live in the universe. There is no need to say inner, outer anymore actually. Inner and outer is just a way of speaking in the beginning of the practice. Afterward, you should level the frontier. There is no more, because it's the universe we've born in, with the Most High. We live with it everyday. We're swimming in it. We're breathing in it. We're eating in it. There is no outer-inner universe. It's only the universe. Everywhere in the universe is okay. It's perfect, as long as we make it perfect. Suppose you go to the Buddha's land and you are messy just the same like in the Center. The Buddha's land will become what? Messy land. Yeah! (Laughter)

It is just very logical to say that the inner level matches the outer arrangement, the environment duly, how you arrange your life. Now, look around you and you'll see my logic. It's not that I'm over critical. The human beings, where do they live? Huh? Houses, palaces, mansions, buildings, don't they? Where do the pigs live? Huh? Pig stalls. Where do the horse live? Horse stalls. Do they look the same? The two houses, the horse houses and the human houses, look the same? Huh? Same smell? Everything, same arrangement? Tea table, teacups and everything in the horse stable are the same? Same or not same? [A: No. (Laughter)] No. Okay. And where do the pigeons live? They live in cages, or on some branches. Yes, yes, yes, nests. So, every beings has their standard of living.

Now, suppose you are saints. But you have to live as a saint, you have to form your saintly standard.

Cleanliness Is Human Nature

Because we are practitioners, we should be more clean even. That is an automatic thing. It should not be even taught. No one taught me when I was young to keep my clothes spotlessly clean everyday, that even the principal of the school always took me out as an example. I was so embarrassed always standing in front of hundreds, of thousands of people to make an example for them.

I was only in second or third grade of primary school. I washed and ironed my clothes everyday myself because I did not trust the servants to do it. I thought, ?They come from poor families, they can't do it. They can't do the way I want and they are not used to it.? So, I did everything alone. I earned the prize from the principal of the school. I earned it myself actually. If the servant had done it, then it was the servant who made it clean. It was me. So, actually it was me who earned the prize.

These things should not be taught, they should come automatically. If anyone tells us that we should be clean, we should be thankful for it instead of being upset, feeling offended, feeling degraded or something like that or looked down upon. It should not be so. Many times we have a temptation to resist a teacher's teaching and we only regret afterward. It's all right. It's all right to learn by mistakes, but the fewer mistakes, the better, the quicker; because the more mistakes we make, the more time we waste, the more burden we feel sometimes in our conscience, and we spend a lot of time feeling regret and correcting our mistakes instead of pushing forward and doing something more important and more fulfilling for our life. That is all. (Applause)

Even though they are not so clean, they will be after today, after I have cleaned the whole house from inside and outside. And I will give them some pattern to follow -- after today you have to do like this. Actually it's difficult, very difficult. I already cleaned the whole area and made the picnic table there for its good looking. Normally they didn't exist -- the table, chairs and thing like that. Then they would come with their cups or their umbrellas and put them right on there immediately. Because there was nothing there for them to put things, so they didn't. Now there are something there, so they immediately use them. Ah! It's terrible. Everywhere they make it become like a storeroom.

The question with many of our houses is not that we don't have enough room, it's that we don't organize things well. We spread everything out and everywhere becomes like a storeroom. Just now when I came to New Jersey... everywhere. Sometimes, when I come back to a Center, everywhere is like a storeroom; there is no space. The storeroom, of course, you can not go in to sleep. But then the living room you put umbrellas, shoes and plastic bags, everything. Everything that when you happen to pass by and leave there, it stays there forever. It's a part of eternity, perhaps. So you have to represent it by putting things forever somewhere and anywhere.

A Method Of Training By Zen Masters

Remember in the Zen stories, many Zen masters let the disciples first come to do some labor work, like cleaning the hall, sometimes shining the Buddha's statue. All these things are not nonsense, really. Actually some Zen temples a long time ago -- you know long time ago when there were still good and enlightened Zen masters -- they still kept the Buddha's statue. Not that they were attached to the Buddha's statue. They knew it already, but still they thought some people are very much attached to the Buddha's statue still, so they kept them. So they let the newcomer disciples shine the statue everyday, and dust the Buddha. They cleaned the table for the Buddha and changed the water, changed the flowers everyday, cleaned the floor. That's what kept them busy and concentrated, and not thinking nonsense. Also to give them good habits of being clean and being orderly, putting things in order and returning things back to where they belong. That was the rule, strictly followed in most of the Zen temples. Even till now.

I think it is a very, very good way of training people, only if they train together spiritually as well. Not letting this habit become like an empty ritual and just keeping the outside clean and inside nothing. So these are the two extremes. Sometimes we see some people just keep the outer rituals of any kind of religious sect; and some others just keep the inner, everyday sitting twenty-four hours in a cave or something like that and don't worry about the world, and don't dust themselves even. These two extremes we should not follow. If we just keep the cleaning outside, the Buddha outside, and we do not know anything inside, or our concentration just rises a little bit because of the cleaning, then it's not enough. We have to do both.

So I hope this is not too much nonsense for you. By the way, it's good for your house also, and it's very practical. Everything that doesn't belong to the living room just don't leave it there, very simple; and you'll see how your life will improve with the spacious house, with the cool feeling, with the warm welcoming atmosphere when you come home.

Keep Your Place Holy Clean

Do not complain that your husband runs away or your wife fails. If everyone just makes the house become like a garbage place, no one likes to go there anymore. That's why most people go out drinking late at night, go to the clubs, go dancing, go anywhere, damaging their health, their spirit, wasting their time. Just because they can not stand it at home. They feel nothing, nothing there in the home to keep them. Whereby I stay at home all the time. I hardly walk out of the door if I have nothing to do. I hardly walk out of my own room door because I am comfortable there. It's my heaven. What for do I walk out into a messy world and no one else cleans? If a house is comfortable, it's like a santuary. It's like a church. You feel peaceful.

That's why many people including non-initiates like to come to my place. This morning I had a guest. He just loved my place. He said, "Oh! It's so quiet." And you feel even your soul become quiet just by the environment alone. You only hear, now and then, a little bit here and there, the birds chirping. Nothing more. And the rushing of the leaves among the trees. Nothing there. No disturbance. No dust. No confusion. So even in that kind of environment, where everything's so clean and cool, you will feel cooled down. You know, the passion, the lust, the anger, the ambition, everything becomes just calmed down.

Very important to keep your place holy, clean for yourself and also for the sake of this world, for the sake of the universe. It is a corner of the universe. We live in it. Even if we lived in heaven, it's also another corner of the universe only. Why don't we respect the corner that we stay in now? It is a dedication to God. Clean your house as a dedication to God. Cook the food with love as a dedication to the universe. Do everything as a dedication. There is no menial work. There is no dirty job. There is nothing that is not worth your attention, because everything composes this universe. Every little particle of the universe belongs to the whole, and we taking care of a part means we take care of the whole. So, do not think this is a dirty job -- I clean the garbage, I clean the floor.

I do things myself when my time and schedule allow. I cook also. You know that. There is nothing that I don't do, and there is nothing that I don't do well, because I am dedicated. My soul, my body are very dedicated to the work I do. It's not that every time I do something, I say, "I dedicate this to God. I do it because of dedication. Da da da da...." But it becomes natural, you know like your own nature. It's very natural just like you love someone. You don't have to recite it. You know you just love him or her, and you do everything out of love. Similarly, a person who practices the way of love. You know, light and sound are supposed to make you grow in love and wisdom. So if we practice the way of love, we should do everything with love; and everything that comes out of love is naturally beautiful and perfect.

Do Everything With Love

If you do anything that is not yet perfect, or not yet beautiful, know that your love has not yet completely developed. You have not completely used the power of love which is inside you.

That's the way to reflect, to know if we've progressed or not. Don't always write letters and ask me, "Master, am I already in the seventh level or not? Or do you think I am on the eighth?" What is the use? Everywhere is inside the universe. While you live here, you are the saints. While you live in the Buddha's land, you're also the saints. You live anywhere as a saint. There's no need to choose one place or another. Heaven is just illusionary talk before we know the real heaven within ourselves. If after practicing for some time, you still long to see heaven and Buddha and all that, I think you should just meditate for two years in the Himalayas and reflect on yourself. This is no use. Heaven is here and now. Anywhere you go, make it a heaven. If you're happy, it's heaven. If you're not happy, even if the situation around is very merry, very boisterous, you still feel miserable. Is that right? (A: Yes!)

If we want to walk all the way to the spiritual mansion of the Most High, if you have a companion supporting in spirit, it is very, very incredible, the energy that each of us radiates. It is incredible when it's put together. For example water, if it's only one cup, it is not much. If it fills the cup, it's all right for the cup. But when many cups are put together, many hundreds or thousands of cups are put together, it becomes a swimming pool. Then more, it'll become a lake, and then it'll become a river, and become an ocean.

On one afternoon with bright sunshine and a gentle breeze, Master personally mixed some refreshing soft drinks and invited everyone to share them under the big outdoor umbrellas. A few sisters who looked a bit shy were always grabbing any chance to take something in and out of the kitchen. It seemed as though they were very busy. Suddenly, I looked up and saw Master's sparkling eyes gazing at us like a mother who always pays attention to her children and is deeply concerned about their every move. My heart was at peace and I could breathe easier. My soul was comforted because I was basking in Master's love.

Just before the feast was over, Master spoke a sentence, "Group meditation is over." I suddenly realized that every moment that we really throw ourselves into our work, concentrate on what we are doing at hand, and at the same time enjoy every minute of it, that is meditation -- walking, resting, sitting, lying are all Zen.

The Absolute Beauty Of God

It is with thanks to Master's ingenious arrangement that we had one of the best locations of all the display areas. Consequently, Master's graceful and compassionate picture was hung in the most prominent place in the entire exhibition; just seeing Her photo would naturally attract a number of souls back to God's loving arms. Many free sample booklets and News magazines were prepared and readily available to those thirsty for the Truth. Some people held Master's information as if they were holding precious jewels, trying to take more to read. Master's wondrous lectures were played on a big TV screen, giving all an abundant feast of spiritual food.

There was a Brazilian woman who, upon seeing Master's picture, excitedly told our fellow practitioners that kindness and love radiated from Master's face, and that a loving power stimulate all the cells in her body. Another elderly woman, while watching Master's lecture, was filled with an almighty loving power. She exclaimed, "Master is unbelievably beautiful! Her beauty comes from the inside, it is the real beauty of God." After listening to this, all the fellow workers were very touched. It is true that everyone possesses God's quality inside; and Master seems to be reminding us all the time in Her lectures, "We are Buddha, we are God."

By means of this book exhibition, Master provided us with an opportunity to learn that only through God's holy work can we progress further, spiritually. From numerous miraculous experiences, the fellow practitioners truly and deeply understand that originally they are just instruments, and that everything is truly arranged and directed by the Creator. The Brazilian brothers and siters hope that we can become purer and better instruments in the future so that the good message of the Quan Yin Method can reach every corner of the world. May many more inner voices of the Self resound!

Moon Festival Enhanced By Spiritual Beauty

The Quan Yin Method booth was frequented by visitors from all walks of life. In the early part of the day, a ceremonial Dragon Dance graced our venue to bring good luck. They happily left after receiving some mooncakes, a red envelope with money, as well as a sample booklet. There were also people from other ethnic groups who came to enjoy the festive atmosphere. Sample booklets were given out in Au Lac language, Chinese, English, Spanish, Korean, etcetera. Moreover, when some Cambodians came by our booth, they were surprised to discover the contributions Master has been making to their native country. They were happy to take the sample booklets along with the latest issues of the News magazines.

As night began to fall, fellow practitioners started packing up. In the joyful atmosphere, they shared their impressions of the workday instead of feeling tired, all the while thanking Master in their hearts for the blessing of serving so many noble future Buddhas.?

Yearning For Truth Can Not Be Hindered By Rain

This year, due to the powerful hurricane Fran from the United States, it rained very hard outside during the fair. However, crowds of people still came each day in spite of the bad weather; the sincere yearning for the Truth won't be hindered by obstacles. At least half of the visitors were already vegetarians; they are ready for the teachings of the Truth.

Most of the visitors felt great interest in Master's teachings after coming to our booth. Numerous sample booklets and magazines were distributed. Almost everyone was surprised that the sample booklets and magazines were free. Their gratitude and sincere search for the answer to the mystery of life overflowed and inspired all of the fellow practitioners present.

Thanks to this event, fellow practitioners have learned how to help and share with others, at the same time helping their own inner growth. The Toronto Center wholeheartedly thanks Master for Her grace and blessings in allowing us to help spread Her invaluable teachings to people with affinity and share the supreme message of eternal liberation with them.?

Spiritual Flowers Bloom In Chile

For this purpose, we advertised in the newspapers and cordially distributed flyers on the streets, expecting more people with affinity to come to participate in the event. Also, we had an interview with Radio Portales, a station that has broadcasted daily in Chile for many years and is dedicated to topics of the soul and the spirit; very much an authority in this field. The interviewer, Mr. Patricio Verela, interviewed us in the most respectful manner; the interview also received a lot of positive feedback from the audience.

When the seminar was over, fellow practitioners were full of joy and grace. An initiation was held the following day to welcome more newly born souls.

After receiving permission, fellow practitioners especially ordered four thousand eggless mooncakes. Thanks to Master's invisible and miraculous arrangement, the mooncakes were purchased at minimal cost. One fellow practitioner's brother works in the food industry, and when he heard the news of this charitable event, he immediately made all the "full of love" mooncakes needed with wholehearted dedication and only charged us for the material costs.

Situated on the bank of the Ganges River, Ramakrishna Math is enveloped by beautiful and natural surroundings with grand temples of the three saints -- Sri Ramakrishna, Sir Sarada Devi (well known as the Holy Mother) and Swami Vivekananda -- erected on the vast grass yard, attracting thousands of pilgrims everyday.

Under the friendly guidance of some of their residential college students, our fellow practitioners had a tour around the Math and met some of their monastic disciples to exchange different viewpoints on spiritual practice. Many of their monastic disciples were impressed and acknowledged Master and Her teachings. They found many similarities between Master's teachings and those of Sri Ramakrishna, proving that since ancient times all the enlightened masters preach the same Truth.

Unexpectedly, our spiritual discussion beside the sacred Ganges attracted a crowd of spiritual aspirants who joined us in the sharing of the pearls of wisdom of the past and present masters. Many of the audience left their address with our fellow practitioners and enthusiastically enquired about more information on Master's precious teachings.

Our fellow practitioners were deeply impressed by the open-mindedness of the Indian spiritual practitioners. India, how many spiritual masters you have bred for the world from generation to generation? The people living on this piece of holy land possess admirable noble qualities, glorifying the fruits of various generations of masters' teaching efforts, which shines upon the Indian civilization till eternity.

On the opening day of the exhibition, many TV reporters came to the press conference and started hunting for focal-point news with their astute and professional eyes. Especially recommended by the organizer, the S. M. Celestial Jewelry stood out remarkably from the numerous world renowned manufacturers, and had become the focus of different media groups. Many TV news teams conducted live coverage at the S.M. Celestial Jewelry exhibition booth; the reporters were deeply impressed both by the Celestial Jewelry and the spectacular crowd of spectators gathered there.

When the spectators were admiring the Celestial Jewelry, their inner nobility was naturally invoked. As they tried on the flawless Celestial Jewelry, their dignified and glorious inner nature was revealed. At that moment of heart to heart contact with the Celestial Jewelry, the noble and benign nature of their souls began to shimmer.

In a triangular show case right behind the Heavenly Dragon Imperial Cutlery, Master's most recent artistic creation -- the S.M. Celestial Bags -- made their debut. Each of them was uniquely styled in vibrant colors, enhancing the exhibition venue with a refreshing ambiance. As Master's musical compositions were being played, waves of spectators flowed to the exhibition booth. On the right of the S.M. Celestial Bags showcase was a giant poster of Master wearing a blue Au Lac royal gown. Her compassionate smile caught the attention of every spectator and warmed their hearts. On the left of the S.M. Celestial Bags was another huge poster, in which Master looked extremely graceful and magnificent, watching the crowd with a super-worldly bearing. Everyone who passed by stopped to admire Her gentleness and nobility. At the venue, curious spectators asked each other: "Who is that noble lady?"

During the exhibition, many people were moved by Master's magnificent demeanor and sincerely asked questions of the fellow practitioners present. Their enquiries began with the Celestial Jewelry and Bags designed by Master, and then proceeded to Her spiritual adventure in the Himalayas, Her preaching task in Formosa and Her charitable deeds in relieving world disasters. They were also very interested in the Quan Yin Method which She imparts to people who long to pursue spiritual practice. In those few days, there was a continuous stream of people asking for the sample booklets and News magazines. Fellow practitioners on duty at the venue then realized that Master was using the exhibition of Celestial Jewelry as a tool to benefit and deliver more sentient beings.

The most outstanding piece of the exhibition was the Heavenly Dragon Imperial Cutlery that rocked the world and transcended time. Spectators were charmed, and reporters were mesmerized. Meticulously, they tried hard to capture the magnificence of this collection with their cameras. A fellow sister at the exhibition clearly sensed the merciful blessings being emitted from the Heavenly Dragon Imperial Cutlery, making her feel extremely comfortable as if riding a dragon soaring high in heaven.

A close inspection of this Heavenly Dragon Imperial Cutlery set reveals that Master has incredibly combined the bowls and chopsticks of the East with the fork and knife of the West; a beautiful harmony is obvious in this cutlery set. The coffee cup, fork and knife, typical in Western cutlery layout, are carved with the heavenly dragon, a symbol of nobility in Eastern tradition. Dr. Gubelin, the most esteemed gemstone expert in the world, highly acclaimed the Celestial Jewelry by the great artistic Master -- Supreme Master Ching Hai!

The most respected authority of the world in gemology and geology, Dr. Edward J. Gubelin, was invited to give a seminar tour in Formosa along with this International Jewelry Exhibition. He has the reputation of "no treasure can escape his eyes". Possessing numerous honors in the field of gemology, he is the founder of the Gubelin Precious Stones Appraisal and Research Center in Belgium, and has also been appointed the expert consultant of the world's two largest auction houses -- Sotheby and Chester. Dr. Gubelin has been conducting research on precious stone deposits in rocks for over sixty years. This time, he specially visited the Celestial Jewelry exhibition booth, accompanied by the Executive Director of the Formosan Jewelry and Antique Trading Center, Madam Yu Seng Chang.

After a close study of the Celestial Jewelry, Dr. Gubelin expressed that it was the honor of his life to see and touch the Celestial Jewelry designed by Supreme Master Ching Hai. Each item impressed him deeply as they were uniquely and fashionably styled. The Deputy Director of the Production and Design Department of the American Pearls Company, Mr. C. Y. Sheng, is a professional jewelry designer; his bearing is full of artistic taste. Having attended innumerable international jewelry exhibitions, he came this time to the Celestial Jewelry exhibition booth.

His favorite was the "Hidden Force Connection". At first sight, he fell in love with this set. Still looking at it, he said that it was impossible to describe the feeling when he gazed at it; he just felt very comfortable all over. He was particularly impressed by the shape of the earrings, and their beautiful contours and design. The "Hidden Force Connection" set features simple contours, but it stirred his intuition and associated thinking. He admired the designer -- Supreme Master Ching Hai -- for being able to conceive such a great variety of styles and shapes.

The neighboring booth belonged to the Four Seasons Jewelry Company. Their president, Mr. Peter Wong, had also participated in the America Jewelry Exhibition earlier this year, and thus had seen the Celestial Jewelry once before. While appreciating Master's creations he said, "These jewelry pieces should belong to the European school of artistic design. They are very different from the Asian or American ways of jewelry design."

The Celestial Jewelry designed by Supreme Master Ching Hai also appeared in the dynamic show featuring fashionable clothing and jewelry, held at the Formosa World Trade Center.

The Hi Fashion Division Director, Mr. Kris Fang, is a popular director in Formosa. He is young but has taste, and is artistically rich. When he vetted through the photos of the jewelry submitted by the participants, he was immediately attracted by the exceptional designs of the S.M. Celestial Jewelry. Since the S.M. Celestial Jewelry was the only collection that offered items for both men and women, he quickly created a performance featuring a man and a woman to convey the noble and supra-worldly spiritual nature of the collection through an entertaining form of expression. The effect was wonderful!

The male model, Mr. Ryan Son, was of Korean nationality. At first sight of the "Tao" from the collection for men, he exclaimed delightfully because the Tai Chi symbol is the favorite of the Korean people. Trying on the jewelry in front of the mirror, he felt extremely contented. The female model, Miss Beeya Yang, from Formosa, is a typical modern young girl before she dresses up. Once she tried on the set entitled "Born Anew" from the ladies' collection of Celestial Jewelry, she immediately exhibited an exceptional and noble bearing. According to her, a spectator in the front row told her backstage: When the models went on the catwalk wearing the S.M. Celestial Jewelry, there seemed to be an invisible director guiding them. Their every movement became very fluid and natural, and made the show a great success. Miss Yang delightfully said that when she was wearing the "Born Anew" set, her whole body felt very pleasant. The sizes of the items in this collection are larger than the usual jewelry; they look graceful and magnificent, and are suitable for most occasions. She loved best the star and moon on the ring which looked very special and beautiful.

Tall and slim in figure, Miss Judy Yao was responsible for exhibiting many sets of the Celestial Jewelry. Her favorite was the elegantly styled bracelet from the "The Little Angel" set. She felt "Seeing With The Soul" was magnificent and graceful, and made her feel like a queen. Therefore, she displayed this set of jewelry thinking that she was a queen. The day after the premiere, photos of her performance were printed prominently in color in the newspapers, and were used as illustrations in articles covering the jewelry exhibition. Upon hearing the explanation that these oversized South Seas pearls symbolize human beings transmigrating repeatedly in this world in different roles, and that the red portion of the S.M. logo represents the human body while the golden portion in the middle represents the glorious soul, he sank into deep contemplation.

Following the interview, he asked us to remember to send him a copy of the report. He believed this unique experience in his career would inspire him to probe deeper into the meaning of life.

Mr. Li Zhon Long was the recipient of the "World's Most Courageous Reporter" commendation awarded by Supreme Master Ching Hai, and is now with the Commercial Times specializing in reporting industrial and commercial events in Formosa. All the while, he has been very interested in the activities of the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association. Therefore, he specially found some time to visit the Celestial Jewelry exhibition booth.

He looked at the displayed items attentively and noticed the natural and primitive designs of the children's collection, especially "Meditating Quan Yin Bodhisattva" and "The Little Angel". There is a Western metaphor that denotes a person born into wealth and position: "He is born with a gold spoon in his mouth." But who has ever really seen a spoon made of real pure gold? At the Taipei International Jewelry Exhibition (to be held in the World Trade Center on Xin Yi Road, Taipei, starting on September 14) an invaluable dining set designed by Supreme Master Ching Hai will be on exhibit.

The "Heavenly Dragon Imperial Cutlery" is the true legendary gold spoon that will be exhibited for everyone to see with their very own eyes. The love I feel in my heart is indescribable. To believe in an enlightened Master is the correct choice one should make in one's life!

When I listened to Master's CDs, tears streamed down my face, nonstop; once again, I was unable to contain my emotions. I wanted to write a letter in dedication to our dearest Supreme Master Ching Hai, to paint a picture as a representation of my longing for Her. However, words and paintings could not convey how much I felt in my heart. Yet, I still earnestly desired to pour forth my inner longing; therefore, I called the Center and received the news about the Celestial Jewelry exhibition being held at the Foreign Trade Center. My husband and I wasted no time and rushed to the exhibition.

I had never met Master nor seen the Celestial Jewelry before. Thus, I experienced a great shock and incredible power upon seeing the jewelry. Thank You, Master, for Your boundless love and care. During this time, my husband's eyes were immensely attracted by a portrait of You in an Au Lac dress, looking very magnificent and compassionate; he stared at it repeatedly. He asked me, "Can you see Master winking?"

Oh, Master! We will put everything into Your hands. We love everything about You -- Your delights, anger, sadness and joys. We wish to follow You till eternity! Even with more words of gratitude, we still could not express our reverence and love for You!

To Be Fully Contented

When the music started and the dazzling lights began to whirl on the stage, the beauties of Paris wearing the noble, elegant and beautiful S.M. Celestial Clothes floated on stage one after another. Thunderous applause filled the auditorium and I became extremely excited. My fingers clicked the camera non-stop for fear that I might miss a single precious moment.

After the pictures were developed, the result astounded me! It was unbelievable that I could take this kind of highly difficult motion picture so beautifully, and on the first try, too. Some of them were even used for magazines. In my heart I know that it was not because of my technique, but because Master was sitting in front of me. When I solely concentrated on taking pictures, I felt a lot of strong blessing power from Her. When I look at these pictures, especially those that went into the magazines, I truly see the special features in them and further appreciate the beauty of art.

Even though I so-called worked for Master, but actually, I feel that it is Master who fulfilled my wishes and taught me how to combine work and practice in order to allow me to further develop my potential.?

I silently remind myself to practice diligently to repay the grace of the Buddha. Thank You, the omnipotent Master. Please bestow upon me the great wisdom and boundless love to liberate me from ignorance, enlighten me so that I might be liberated from the circle of life and death.

As a high school literature teacher for many decades, I always thought that being a teacher to "spread the Truth, give knowledge and answer questions," I will gain a lot of merit. After initiation, I realized: Because of ignorance, I had misleaded other people, creating a lot of karma! Thank You, Master, for initiating me. Please allow me the chance to make up for my past ignorance; to create a new, good and bright future; and to live my life fully and happily.

Master has said, that before we meet an enlightened Master, we always think we know a lot. After we've met an enlightened Master, then we realize that it's not true. So we should be more humble to follow Master to practice. Since initiation and being taught by Master's love and wisdom, I have come to understand the truth of flexibility and forgiveness. I've also learned to let go and let Master take care of everything; to help me in my family and school life so that everyone is in harmony and peace. Thank You so much for the great Master's guidance!?

Being spiritual practitioners, we should repent even more gravely if we have failed to use our wisdom.

Just because we complicate our lives, therefore, we cannot be one with the universe and God can not contact us.

If we can rectify ourselves and increase the good qualities in us, our life will attract many of the so-called blessed retribution.

We should not try to find the Buddha nature from the outer appearance or clothes, but we should look right through into the soul of mankind.

To love others is to love ourselves; to hate others is to give ourselves troubles.

Ego is a manner of arrogance and complacency. If a person always insists on his or her thinking, preference and habit, does not compromise comparatively with anyone, his or her ego is rather serious.

If we talk, we must speak what we know and what we truly are convinced with, then it has force; then it has energy, and it benefits people.

We should not let any situation obstruct our work or our decisions. Therefore, in this world we can live meaningfully in such a short period of time and create many plans.

Once we attain the highest power, we can help ourselves and help the whole world; this is the highest ideal.

The best thinking is to liberate ourselves from life and death, to get the big wisdom, highest power and then help ourselves, help others to be liberated from the suffering. This is the best ideal, the best thinking.

Master Tells Stories

Love Is Devotion, Not Possession

Part I : --

There was a man called, I think Krishna. He had a lot of disciples, especially female disciples. He was very, very beautiful, and black -- black and beautiful. His face was little bit of a dark complexion, so people called him black beauty. And whoever just saw him once, fell in love with him -- men, women alike. But don't think that was a kind of physical attraction; it was a kind of spiritual love. Everyone who saw him just loved him. Therefore, he had a lot of disciples and a lot of male disciples. Of course, other women, they did not forget their jealousy. Even though they followed any master, they kept their jealousy in the pocket. Therefore, sometimes they vied with each other for his special attention. But among all these female disciples, he especially loved one female called Rada. Of course she was very beautiful, but apart from that she had many other qualities probably other people did not possess. Not only the females, I mean including the males as well. Maybe she was very loving, very attentive and knowing his mind before he even had to speak about it. Therefore, he loved her very much. And she took care of him in every way. Also she loved him very much. Everyone loved him, that was for sure, but both of them had a special relationship. Yes, yes. Very loving toward each other and loved each other very much. Maybe they both were very great and they knew each other's minds.

So now all the females, apart from their immediate enlightenment, they had a little jealousy in the corner of their pocket. Now, they were thinking: "What is the big deal about that Rada. She may be beautiful, but so am I. Master loves me most." Everyone thinks master loves him most, loves her most. But then when they saw that Krishna always showed a little more special attention to Rada, the female attendant, the jealousy which they were hiding in their pocket popped up now and again. And they'd feel: "What's the big deal about her? What she can do, I can do." But sometimes they could not, because each one has a different affinity with the master. Also maybe each one had a different personality and talent. You know masters use different persons in different ways. It doesn't means we are better than the others or others are better than us. But everyone can not take care of the master; the master would be smothered to death. Therefore, only one took care of him, and then everyone else was jealous.

Now, one day Krishna could not bear this atmosphere anymore, so he intended to demonstrate something. He called all the female attendants, just like this, we are having an assembly here. Then he pretended to have a terrible headache. He said, "Oh, my head is...! Oh, it's near splitting in two! Oh, I cannot bear it! Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!" He had a headache but sometimes he'd forgot, he hold his stomach, "Oh, I'm hurt!" Because he just pretended to have a headache. (Laughter)

Sometimes a master pretends to have something or another, or to ask some questions in order to get closer to the disciples, or to make them not afraid of the master, or to encourage them in their specialty or different talent. Not that the masters don't know this subject or needed to ask your advice. Yeah, just different. Therefore, Sakyamuni Buddha said, "Have to use eighty-four thousand kinds of methods." This is what it is. So, one of the methods is called the "headache method." Krishna used it. "Oh, my head! Oh! It hurts here, oh! Hurts so much!" Then everyone panicked. They asked the master what could they do to eliminate his suffering. The master said, "Oh, if someone would stand on my head..." If a female put the feet on the head of the master, he would get cured immediately. "Would you please, one of you come and do it?" They smelled their feet. "Oh, no! Oh, no, no, no, no! Oh, no, no, no, no!" (Laughter) Maybe forgot to wash their feet for three days, because too busy running with Master's lecture and distributing sample booklets. "Oh, no, no, no, no, no! How can we dare to step on your head? You are God personified. You are God's manifestation on Earth. You are our Master. Our dearest most beloved, the most reverent person on Earth. How can we dare to step on your head? No, no, no, no! Anything we'd do for you but not that!"

So Krishna pretended to have more of a headache: "Oh! Then I'll die. I will die. I'll die immediately. I might die tomorrow. I'll die today. I'll die tonight. I will die and then all of you will be happy." He lamented, and he made a lot of fuss. Ah, the big theater he played. The female disciples just stood there, speechless, helpless and actionless. Just then Rada, the female attendant came. When he saw Rada, he made even a worse performance. "Oh, I'm dying! I'm dying! Oh, my head! Oh, can someone...! It's going down here, it's going down there. Oh, going here and all everywhere." He made more troubles. He was kind of groaning a lot and made a lot more miserable fuss.

Everyone turned to Rada when she came in. Rada asked, "What's the matter? What's wrong with you? What can I do for you?"

Then Krishna related the same request: "My head is burning with pain. Please step on my head so that I can be relieved of the pain." Because that was the only way.

So, Rada immediately stepped on his head. She didn't care whether she wore the shoes or whether she had bathed, she stepped on his head. Then Krishna was immediately so-called relieved of the pain, no more pain, and was laughing and eating blessed food. Now, Rada looked like nothing had happened, but then all the females in the congregation started to look at Rada with such eyes...firing eyes, like they are going to swallow her in one gulp, make a soup out of her. "You dare! You terrible person! You have disrespect for Master. We're going to, to..."

Rada said, "What? What? What's wrong with you?"

"We will kill you!"

Then Rada asked them, "What's wrong? What have I done? Why do you want to kill me?"

For the master, they were ready to kill. Even master said, "Don't kill." But in that case they forgot. Jealousy is very terrible and it blinds everyone, even in that situation. So that's what happened to Rada.

Rada just smiled and said, "Is that it? Is that all you're worried about? Then don't worry because I will smile happily staying in hell if I can make him better. If I can relieve him for one second, I will happily go to hell. So, don't you worry about this."

At that time all the females suddenly understood how selfless she was, and how much she was devoted to the master, even at the cost of her own spiritual attainment and happiness. So, they all bowed to her and said, "Excuse me. I'm sorry." Things like that. After that, everything was fine and okay.

So, doing everything for the master -- according to Indian philosophy, is the highest attainment, the highest devotion; because sometimes we have different ideas about how to serve a master. We think we do this, that and all these; but actually, we don't do what the master requests us to do.

What is the problem in this? What is wrong with this that we don't do what the master requests? Will we go to hell? No! Will we make the master angry? No! Maybe the master pretends to be angry, scolds you, or something like that. Whatever way the master uses is to open your understanding, let you know that in this situation where you were wrong, try to teach you to become better next time. But the master will not be truly angry inside. Just like loving parents never truly hate their children. They just sometimes pretend to smack their bottoms, scold them, or give them some kind of reprimanding in order to rectify the children to make them become better persons in the future. That's all. But parents always love children dearly.

Part II: --

Rada, being so devoted and selfless to the master, of course, got a lot of love and special attention from the master as well. Therefore, she had, for some time, become conceited and arrogant; she felt that she was okay, she was high, and she was better than the rest. And also, the master loved her so much, so she enjoyed the love of the master; she became kind of possessive. She thought the master belongs to her alone. Well, I have these experiences with some of my attendants as well. Therefore, I learned better than Krishna. I don't use the same attendants all the time. I change. So anyhow, in that case of Rada, the master probably one day had enough of it. He decided to teach her a lesson. One day he told her very secretly, lovingly, in a romantic rhythm, "I'm fed up with these people. Why don't we both go together to some place alone? I only trust you."

So, wow! She felt: "That's it! That's the thing I want to hear. You belong to me alone, then we'll have a good time together. That's the best." So she immediately followed him. Krishna kept walking and walking all the time, in a high and deep mountain and river and so very difficult way to walk. Rada got exhausted and said, "I can't walk anymore, why don't we stop?"

Krishna said, "No, no, no, no! We're nearly there. Keep walking." Rada eventually could not walk anymore. So Krishna said, "Oh, so what do you want me to do? Carry you?"

She said, "Yes, of course! You carry me." She was so used with being spoilt. She thought master belonged to her, just like an ordinary husband. So, she could do what she wanted with him and get away with it; or using him just like an ordinary human being. Krishna pretended to agree with her and said, "Okay, come." And wanted to carry her on his back. But as soon as she jumped up on him, he disappeared. She fell flat on the ground, bleeding nose; Her flat nose become flatter. (Laughter) She sat there and cried. Then she realized that she had been wrong. She knew that he was not the body, she should not be possessive and get hold of his body like her own possession, like something that she could own.

Therefore, she apologized to the master and said, "I'm very wrong. I was wrong. I have been wrong. Please forgive me. I understand now. I shouldn't possess you. I should respect you and only help you unconditionally without any request for reward for myself." If she didn't do that, she'd harm the master. She'd tie the master down, and also affect numerous sentient beings who follow him. He would always have to spend time with her alone, and do all her whims to please her, just like an ordinary husband. Then how could he have time for other people. So he had to be in control, otherwise she'd control him.

That's how most people are tied down in this world and forgot their greatness. Sometimes great politicians, because they are tied up with their emotions and family ties, they became used to it and forgot their duty. Therefore, many things happen to the nation and very bad effects on the people of that country. Many kings failed because of beauties. Many great high officers or heroes sold their position and country just because of emotions, so-called passion. Therefore, if a master is not in control about this, then the master's also kaput, finished. "Kaput" is a German word for finished, no good, up to no good. So you see, even then, if you attain that once, you have to polish it. Therefore, we need to meditate everyday because our habits, bad habits have accumulated life after life, many centuries, many ages. Now, if we have only one lifetime to rearrange it, to break it, therefore, the master has to use the supreme power inside to readjust you -- not ordinary means. Therefore, without initiation, without truly making use of your own greatness, you can never get out of this mess. Doesn't matter how much you use, because whatever you use it's only the brain. You use your brain which already has recorded many bad habits. Now you can not catch up with just a short span of one lifetime. So you need the Supreme Master Power inside which you have. You only need the master to touch it for you, to let it open for you. By your own sincerity, you get it again and regain everything you have lost.?

Pearls Of Wisdom

"To be great" means that you do everything clearly. Changing other people's original ideas here and there does not mean that you are great; nor does disobeying someone means that you are great! Disobedience is too easy, obedience is not easy.

What makes you great is that you are humble. The greatest people are always very humble; the greater one is, the more humble.

When we think of someone, his/her karma or destiny will more or less affect us. So, when we think of a spiritual practitioner, he/she will surely bless us. In the beginning, that's the real meaning of initiation. When we think of a spiritual practitioner, his/her boundless treasure will transfer to us, that's for sure. Therefore, the less we think of the mundane world the less karma we will gain; the more we think of our Master, the more blessing we will be bestowed; the more we think of Master, the more we will become alike.

In this world if we don't practice spirituality, whatever we do is wrong. We must practice very diligently, then we know how to handle everything well. We have to be considerate of other's feelings as well. Sometimes we just act according to our own thinking regardless of how our husband, wife or others feel. That is why we fail, but we don't know the reason and blame others.

Many people pursue spiritual practice, but very few attain the Truth. Or, they have attained half, one-third, two-thirds, but not the whole. It is all because they cannot control their mundane ideas and habits.

The biggest obstacle for our practitioner is our own mundane habits and ego. Everyone wants to be the boss and thinks that we ourselves are right, and don't listen to anyone else.

I don't need you to do the work. I just want you to understand yourself in order to rectify yourself and become more humble. When we are willing to rectify ourselves, we can help others more readily, then without trying earnestly to help, we will spontaneously help others.
