 Blocked all the outer Earthly sounds,
 Silently began the holy symphony
 And I in the trance of melodies.


 Sweet stanzas came with accordion playing.
 Gentle tunes like soft blowing wind
 Rustling on crystal leaves
 Sweetly ran over the piano keys.


 Then I felt calm and safe,
 My heart filled with inner peace and bliss
 Of finding out a far away home I had lost
 Thousand of years somewhere out of record.


 When silent sounds turned out smoothly,
 With rhythmical pitches in harmony,
 When all ocean waves started resounding,
 I, again, in the trance of melodies.

Celebrating Buddha's Birthday

In The Land Of Buddha

--- A summary of the Cambodian 7-Day Retreat

On the first night of the 7-Day Retreat, Master mentioned that Buddha had consecutively hinted to Ananda three times that He had the method to be immortal and always stay in this world. But Ananda heard without listening and did not realize the Buddha's meaning at all. After the third time, the Maya King came and forced Buddha to leave, since no one wanted him.

Why didn't Ananda ask the Buddha to stay at that time? Master said that if Ananda had been thinking about the sufferings of sentient beings all the time, he would have asked the Buddha to stay in the world forever, in order to bless the world and lead sentient beings to liberation. But Ananda did not. Because he was with the Buddha everyday, and never lacked anything, he did not realize the importance of the Buddha's staying in the world. Master said thoughtfully that, if Ananda had put himself into the position of these people who had never heard of the Buddha's name or seen the Buddha personally, his response would have been different and the outcome would have been different, too.

On the second day, Master gave a lecture about the importance of being considerate, because of the careless attitude of some working staff. If we are not considerate of others, when the opportunity is gone, God will give us a more painful lesson to make a deeper impression that will last several lifetimes. For instance, we may encounter the pains of being hungry if we let other people go hungry.

Be Considerate Of Others

Moreover, Master mentioned that because of the staff members' ego, they did not completely follow Her instructions in doing their work, causing many inconveniences and unpleasant situations for Her and everyone.

Master then recounted an instance that occurred just the night before, where one of the staff membersdid not do as She had asked and made the situation worse. During the recounting of the story, Master felt the longing of disciples to be near Her so She allowed us to come closer to the stage to see Her afterward (She joked that this would make up for the price of our tickets). As She walked to a dark corner on stage, She told the brother who was video-taping to turn on the camera lights. Despite mentioning this several times, the brother did not turn on the lights and argued that he did not need them. Later, Master explained that because She saw the longing eyes of the initiates to have one more glance of Her, She asked him to turn on the camera lights to let the disciples have a better view of Her; but he was so attached to his technical skills that he insisted that he did not need anymore light to film Her.

Master said that when we first come to work for Her, we want to serve other people. However, sometimes we become attached to the work and think the work is very important. Therefore, due to our ego and inconsideration of others, we cannot comprehend Master's intentions; so we fail to understand others' longing hearts.

Master's Love Is As Deep As The Boundless Ocean

Everyday at lunch time, after fellow initiates finished their delicious blessed meals, carefully prepared by the cooking staff, they had a short break. Then, Master came to the meditation area to see us. To refresh us, Master always told several funny stories. They delighted us, and erased any worries. Those humorous, poignant stories were meaningful.

This 7-Day Retreat was held in honor of Shakyamuni Buddha's birthday. Therefore, during the retreat, Master told several stories of the Buddha's previous incarnations, like the Golden Goose King, the Golden Monkey King, etc. Also, Master laughed and said that the Buddha had a very good sense of humor; He might intentionally have made an analogy of Himself as an animal. In fact, He implied that it was very difficult to teach the disciples at that time. When He was with His disciples, He felt like He was with a crowd of animals, in the sense that they were underdeveloped. On the other hand, Master compared Herself with a Golden Snail King because Her disciples' reactions are so slow. So, sometimes after Master finished the joke, the disciples still stared blankly at Her, having no reaction at all (for example).

The loneliness of being a Master was conveyed in every single story that Master told about the Buddha. She said that all these stories were to teach us that to become a fully enlightened being, a sentient being has to go through a lot of training, a lot of discipline, a lot of compassionate lessons before he arrives at the stage of complete virtue and beauty inside of himself.

To have complete wisdom, complete knowledge of all things and complete compassion, mercy and love, we have to go through a lot of tests and trials and voluntary sacrifice in order to be a noble being, such as Buddha. "So I wish you all will become like that," Master concluded.

Since all these stories occurred in India, Master told the disciples anecdotes about when She was seeking the Truth in India. Every time Master mentioned the events that happened, the fellow initiates always perked up their ears to listen attentively to Master's words. Obviously, all are more interested in the present Buddha than the past Buddhas.

Master has gone through innumerable trials and tribulations to seek the Truth. After She obtained the Tao, She cannot bear to let the disciples endure all untold hardships that She experienced Herself. Thus, She is always meticulously considerate to us, trying Her best to give us blessings. Our dear Mother's love for us is as deep as the boundless ocean; it is immeasurable beyond our understanding because, as disciples, we enjoy all of Her blessings without any effort. Even so, Her snail-disciples' faith in the Truth was uplifted very much by Her words. Bearing the deepest gratitude in their hearts, they meditated with great concentration, wishing to increase their "crawling speed.

The Wisdom Of Living Life

In addition, Master cares about the way we conduct our daily lives. For example, She taught us some good camping tips, like opening up the sleeping bag and covering the tent with it to keep it from getting too hot inside. Another camping suggestion was to put a plastic sheet over the tent to keep the rain from seeping through the seams. Aside from the camping tips, She reminds us of hygienic practices like wearing a mask over both our nose and mouth upon the first signs of sickness. Master emphasized that we should be especially cautious in the tropics due to the abundance of insects, so we need to keep our surroundings clean in order to prevent infestations and contaminations for the whole group.

Master always pays attention to the hygiene of the cooking staff to make sure it is up to par. In the kitchen, staff members must wear gloves, masks and hats; and whenever the gloves tear they must be replaced immediately. The kitchen staff must also always recite the Holy Names silently and not to talk unnecessarily during their work. She also inspected the kitchen for cleanliness and reminded them to be more aware in order to contribute to the overall hygiene of the kitchen. We are such fortunate children to be under Her benevolent care.

Furthermore, She taught us the advantages of using our natural resources such as rain for making tea and vegetarian cakes because of its purity and natural flavor. She also encouraged us to take this opportunity to enjoy the taste of the tropical fruits. Master's supreme wisdom washes away all obstacles and can transform any place into a holy place for practice. When one steps into this meditation center, one can see both the primitive and sophisticated facets of creativity. In creating the basic facilities for the Center, the natural beauty of the surroundings is maintained and nurtured so it is in keeping with Master's teachings. The facilities that were designed were of simple, classic and practical architecture, using stones, wood and dried plant leaves. For example, the meditation hall was floored with small pebbles and the surrounding is consisted of lush green trees and small bushes.

During the morning break between meditation sessions, we worked together on the incomplete projects at the Center, such as paving the roads or making ditches to control the water flow. Fellow initiates from different countries took responsibility for different work areas. These activities were, indeed, good exercise for the practitioners who meditate for the greater part of the day. Because of the perfect cooperation between everyone, we were united like brothers and sisters during our work. After working hard, both in body and spirit, we had better experiences.

In the afternoon, while we were meditating, Master came. She asked us whether our tents were okay after yesterday's heavy rain. Master jokingly said that this was our karma, because it was too hot and some people were praying for the rain. Master also said that like the rain that leaks through the roof we should check our own practice for leaks. As Master was lecturing, heavy clouds gathered above the meditation hall, and the whole sky turned dark, warning us that a heavy rain was coming. However, Master appeared as if She hardly noticed it at all and continued teaching us the supreme wisdom in a peaceful manner, at times looking up serenely to praise the beautiful scenery around the meditation hall. The disciples were so intoxicated in Her sweet nectar and light that they paid no attention to the thunder and lightning outside either. Seeing that no one could be scared, the God of rain went elsewhere and left us alone. Suddenly, the darkness disappeared with the sky becoming once more clear.

Only a few drops of rain fell, enough to wet the flowers, and the grass and cool down the afternoon heat.

Inhaling the fragrance emanating from the unknown wild flowers and listening to Mother Master's sweet voice, we were truly in heaven!

God Help Those Who Help Themselves

When the 7-Day Retreat was in its final day, the rain got heavier. Although it's not yet the rainy season in Cambodia, the heavy rain arrived ahead of time. Master commented that Cambodia is in real need of water, and told us about the drought last year which resulted in a shortage of grain. At that time, Master called on fellow initiates to help by donating grain. Following Master's loving visits, retreats, and other activities, the weather in Cambodia has greatly changed this year and the country now has an abundance of water.

This time these heavy rains provided the meditation hall with little rivers and streams. As Master directed the disciples to move to dryer areas, She suggested jokingly that we should bring boats next time, when we come to Cambodia. Later, Master was inspired to award those disciples who had enough common sense to bring inflatable air mattresses. She said that these items do not occupy much space in suitcases, and when the water comes you just float and stay dry. Furthermore, She likes practical people who have high IQs and common sense, and who can take care of themselves and not worry Her so much all the time.

Master asked these disciples to come up on stage and get their rewards. The rewards were surprisingly special -- Master gave them Her autograph. Seeing the rewards were so great, it made one felt sorry that one had missed the chance. Several disciples with various types of cushions came up to receive the rewards and to have their chair or cushion personally checked by Master. Some of the disciples even highlighted the features of their cushions -- such as its multiple functions as a chair, a back rest or a luggage carrier, and finally they received their reward. One of the disciples was resourceful enough to find his materials here to make a special chair and Master rewarded and tested him by saying, "You stole my wood to make it. The disciples with the small chairs also received rewards, and the ones with the light, portable chairs got the highest praise. The rewards were a result of spontaneous inspiration, just like a Mother rewarding Her well-behaved children who know how to take care of themselves and not worry the Mother. Finally, Master revealed a Truth, that God only helps those who help themselves. God gave us brains to make full use of them rather than depending on Hirm for even the smallest things.

The lucky disciples who were able to attend this 7-Day Retreat fully enjoyed camping in the wilderness. They ate and slept well under our Master's love and care. Thank You, Master, for giving us a chance to see Your magnificent work, leading the world into a new era.

A Wonderful Celebration

At the last day of this retreat, a party was held to celebrate Shakyamuni Buddha's Birthday and Mother's Day. The first performance was a Korean fan dance, in which the costumes were rich in colors. The performance was both beautiful and amusing, conveying the bright and blissful feelings after enlightenment. It was followed by a traditional Thai dance of international professional standard. The Thai music, composed of various musical instruments, in addition to the elegant and beautiful movements of the dancer, led us to explore the beauty of classical Thai's art. Master commented that the Thai dance looked simple but, truly, it was very difficult to perform. Also, the Formosan dancers danced with great enthusiasm to express their ecstacy of meeting Master and, thus, getting enlightenment. Moreover, the Tai-Chi movements conducted by the Japanese initiates were relaxing and gentle. Master commented in amusement that they looked like they were catching insects that had been attracted by the light. Everyone burst into laughter at Master's humorous play of words. In addition, a Formosan initiate then played some romantic melodies on the guitar, dedicating them to our spiritual Mother of superb beauty. An Au Lac disciple from USA recited an Au Lac poem written by himself. His sincere performance won Master's praise. The program lasted about two hours, consisting of different styles from different countries; all were excellent. In the last part of the program, Korean fellow practitioners performed a highly energetic and lively rhythmic sleeve-flipping dance; this dance brought the whole program an infinitely happy atmosphere. Master and fellow initiates celebrated the joyous occasion in the beautiful natural wilderness.

The Light Of Love Brilliant Forever

After the performances, Master personally cut the vegetarian cake and shared it with us. Master gracefully declined to blow out the candles explaining that She did not want to blow out the light. She suggested that we should also do the same, because it is not only hygienic, but also keep the light shining forever. Master then blessed the fruit, cakes, cookies, etc, which beautifully decorated the front of the stage. When the music started, signaling Master's departure, fellow initiates all rushed to Master's car, waving their hands to bid a reluctant farewell to the merciful Mother. Many "thank You, Master could be heard, conveying their most sincere feelings. Master also responded to us by waving repeatedly until the car was out of sight.

celebrate the Mother Master's birthday, as well as Mother's Day. Fellow
initiates from around the world expressed their gratitude to Master in earnest
prayers, attentive meditation and active practices of Master's teachings of love.
They also pray for Mother Master's good health, happiness and for Her
leading Her disciples into a new spiritual era.

The "Papa Sun finally shone as a special treat after an entire week of rainfall, as if to join the celebration of the festival of all mothers. Many new video tapes and CD's of "Traces of the Past" recited by Master, Herself, were published before this festival, with the purpose of presenting fellow initiates a spiritual feast. With great joy, fellow initiates made their purchases as the best gifts for their mothers. Some fellow initiates not only extended best wishes to their mothers, but thinking of the care on the part of elderly women, they also bought little presents of extraordinary meanings for them. Thanks to Master's painstaking training, fellow initiates have developed their love for others. Some mothers also bought Celestial Clothes as reward for their own whole year of work.

In the past, Master has spent most of Her holy birthdays and Mother's Days here with us in Formosa. This time, She is far way in Cambodia conducting the 7-Day International Retreat. Missing their Mother, the children of Formosa realized how deep the yearning of initiates abroad for Her must have been in the past. Meanwhile, they urge themselves to grow up quickly, so that they can play a helpful role in Master's work to serve people. In this way, Master's painstaking efforts in training them will not have been wasted.

Master, The Most Unusual Mother!

Our Master, Supreme Master Ching Hai, is the most unusual, miraculous and outstanding Mother of all the world. Why so? Because She has many children of different races, scattered in many countries. She is the real Mother of the world. Though of different colors, speaking different languages, and from different cultures, they all support and have faith in their Mother.

Our Mother's way of training us is very unique. Her teaching material is the best tonic of the universe -- the "Quan Yin Method, which has an especially good effect in curing ignorance. Practitioners can attain immediate enlightenment and get eternal liberation. With more effort, one can have his entire wisdom and love awakened and himself united with the universe. Her most treasured methods to educate the most naughty children are love and the "lion's roar . Her love can bring prodigal sons home; Her "lion's roar can shake heaven and Earth and is the best weapon to eradicate ignorance and the ego. Furthermore, Mother's cooking skill has no parallel in the world, and our appetites are always gratified with Her "methods which are forever exciting.

Mother also bears the most graceful maternal manner. She wears Her self-designed Celestial clothes and jewelry, appearing in all Her glory, sometimes poised and noble, sometimes elegant and charming, distinguished and graceful. At the sight of Her, one often gets intoxicated by the bliss of the heavenly experiences. Recently, Mother taught fellow sisters facial transformation technique. Oh, no! It was about make-up. Mother has really beautified our world!

Mother Is My Good Fellow Practitioner

Mother was initiated when I was four years old. Since then, when she goes to visit Master, she always takes me along. I was initiated at age six. My relationship with mother has changed; we are more like friends, very relaxed and care-free. We hope Master will bring Father to initiation soon, so that he can experience the happiness of communicating with Master together with us.

Before initiation, mother was very serious about everything. She was kind of nervous. She had to be prepared for everything and she had very high expectations of me. She often took me out to experience the outside world just like a teacher. She believed that one must learn many things starting at a very young age, so knowing about meeting and dealing with people is very useful. Therefore, she always took me around to experience life. My childhood years were filled with interesting things.

After initiation, our lifestyle changed. Mother plays Master's cassette tapes and video tapes everyday. She meditates diligently, rarely going out, unlike before. I also feel Mother is not as nervous as she used to be. She is no longer so strict like before, more relaxed now. Mother is really my good friend and fellow practitioner. She is a role model for me. No matter what kind of shock or test she faces, she can always get through it together with Master. Therefore, I have discovered that Mother is teaching me the spirit of not fearing failure and having faith in Master no matter what happens. Mother says that ever since I got initiated, she turned me over to Master and she feels very safe about it. When I go to school everyday, she is not worried because Master will take care of everything, safe and sound! Hence, Mother has more time to meditate which makes the atmosphere at home even better. When I come home from school each day, I feel comfortable, tranquil and really great. Also, Mother is gaining more wisdom day by day to overcome many problems.

Thank You, Master, for giving me such a good mom.

 I still have not understood Your soundless voice.
 

        Eventually, You appeared as a Mother;  
        With eyes, so tender but stern, and words, so patient and soft.
        I used to be just like a naughty, inexperienced child.
        Because of You, I have finally awakened from that deep, never ending sleep.
 

              How can I measure the limits of Your love,
              Or the extent of Your forgiveness?
              Let me rest in Your arms, Mother. 
              So I can be showered by the light from Your gentle face.

The S.M. Celestial Jewelry exhibition booth was skillfully decorated by fellow practitioners. Its walls were decorated in alternating light blue and cream strips of delicate fabric with white tassels on them, radiating an elegant, clean and classical atmosphere. A large poster of Master, wearing a royal blue traditional Au Lac costume, was hung in the middle of the wall. Her photo displayed Her majestic image with a cordial and compassionate smile, which made the visitors feel very welcome and comfortable. The S.M. Celestial Jewelry glass showcases were appropriately arranged for easy access.

The S. M. Celestial Jewelry was supervised and designed by Master. She has bestowed meaningful names to each piece. The jewelry collection, presented to the visitors, depict the qualities of the heavenly glory. The wide selection, special designs and the distinguishing characteristics of each piece of jewelry amazed the visitors. They acclaimed that this collection is the epitome of perfection. Master also had a premier showing of several of Her latest works of art, "The Gold Bowl, "Gold Chopsticks, "Gold Spoon and "Gold Tea Cup. These are all pure gold hand-crafted pieces of art. The "Gold Bowl is inlaid with diamonds, and two dragons are depicted in a relief sculpture on the outside of the bowl. The bowl symbolizes the glory, magnificence and sumptuousness of the "Golden Age. This art work was the most glorious of all the art pieces on display at the exhibition.

The exhibition coincided with Mother's Day on which the greatest number of visitors attended the exhibition. This day brought the event to its climax. Many sons and daughters accompanied their mothers to this art show and were reluctant to leave while praising with surprise that the S.M. Celestial Jewelry was the most exquisite in quality and craftsmanship they had ever seen.

In addition, fellow practitioners also explained the S.M. Celestial Jewelry through the detailed printed flyers, showing the visitors how to appreciate the jewelry as well as understand the deep meaning of each piece and how it was made.

The visitors were astounded by Supreme Master Ching Hai's incredible talent as an artist and the superior craftsmanship of the art pieces. They further expressed their appreciation of the high quality of gold and gems, from all over the world, that were used to craft and embellish each piece of art. Some visitors commented that this collection was even more magnificent than the national treasure displayed in the Royal Palace Museum in Formosa.

According to the sisters who worked at the exhibition, the pieces that received the most orders were from the children's collection, "Boddhi Dharma and "E.T. "Boddhi Dharma was designed in a way that depicts him in a loving image through his warm and sweet grin, this shatters the preconceived stern image in most people's minds. The necklace of this collection was designed to be flexible. For example, you can remove the pendant and still have an attractive necklace. "E.T. is like a familiar friend who makes people feel happy. It symbolizes the open-mindedness and the optimistic nature of our hearts; ready to accept the galactic age and welcome the arrival of alien friends. As a young child saw the children's jewelry, she cried out, "Mom, they're so beautiful! Come and look! There was also another visitor, an older gentleman, who came several times and lingered at our booth. He finally commented when he saw Master's picture, "Oh, it's Her, Supreme Master Ching Hai -- very talented and, indeed, very good!

Not only could the visitors enjoy Master's Celestial Jewelry and works of art, they were also entertained with Her tapes of heavenly music. A lady was admiring the jewelry when she became very attracted to Master's music. She kept praising its euphoric sounds and wanted to purchase the tapes.

The debut of the S.M. Celestial Jewelry won the praises from the visitors, as well as positive responses from the general public. The creation was derived from the inner power of a Master, possessing profound spiritual beauty. From both artistic and spiritual points of view, Master's jewelry collection produced a stunning accomplishment in awakening our past heavenly memories and uplifting the aesthetic standards of human kind.

Thank You, God, for letting us enjoy the elegant jewelry and exceptional art creations. From the glorious brilliance of the S.M. Celestial Jewelry one can come to realize that the "Golden Age has arrived!

Five Lands Of The Spiritual Path

The disciples asked him, "Was that the final stage of your quest for the divine?

The master said, "No, no. That was not the final stage.

One day God said to the master, who was at that time a seeker of the Truth, "Today I shall take you to the inner most sanctuary of the temple, to the heart of God Hirmself. So the master, at that time, was led to the Land of Laughter.

In the journey to the Land of the Absolute, I think we have to pass through many stages of understanding, many stages of consciousness in order to understand the complete Truth at the end.

The Land Of Action

So, let's see where God has led the seeker of Truth who later became a master. First, God led him to the Land of Action and let him stay there for several years. What is meant by the Land of Action. Anyone know? I think that the Land of Action means that when we first came into contact with the God power, the incredible energy and blessing that we received from within after the initiation or after we came in contact with the Truth or the absolute power, we became very overwhelmed, very excited, very charged with all kinds of incredible creative thinking. Then, all this thinking will be translated into actions during our daily life. So, we would like to do this, we would like to do that, we would like to give charity, we would like to spread the teaching, we would like to become a renunciate, we would like to rescue people, we would like to print books, we would like to do many, many, many things.

Also, we can certainly discover that we have many dormant talents. Like suddenly, we will be able to write very beautiful poetry or beautiful essays, and we were not able to do this before. Or we'll be able to talk eloquently, and for a long time maybe. (Laughter) Sometimes we bore the audience to sleep. (Laughter) That's good, at least for the insomniac people; they can benefit from our teaching. Then, we'll probably be able to do some handicrafts, maybe some exquisite paintings or many, many things.

Then we stay there. We see our work, our talent, our ability benefits mankind in different ways and benefits ourself. We like it, we enjoy it, we feel so good. We feel life is happy, lively and full of creative energy; and we love that. So, God will let us stay there for some years in order to act out our excitement and to let the steam off our chest, because we have too much bubbling energy that suddenly came into us and we are so overflow with it. So, this is the first stage of our enlightenment. That is perhaps what the master has described as the Land of Action.

We see some of our new initiates, so absolutely enthusiastic. You can't stop him, you can't stop her going out and distributing sample booklets to the dogs, cats and mice on the streets or whatever. Any sentient beings he sees he just distributes sample booklets (laughter), or gives photos to stray dogs or something. This consequently leads us to many over-doing actions. Sometimes this is very difficult. We will be very, very proud of this, that we are spreading the teaching of the Master, and that we do this, that and the other. OK.

Doing and doing are different. Many of you are still doing the same thing right now, but with a different attitude. I don't mean the way you are doing now is like this enthusiastic, enlightened fool, the first newly initiated; but, you know now what you're doing. You do it with a more calm manner, and with the more realization that this is okay, we should do it. But before, if you did it and someone stopped you for some reason, you'd kill him! (Laughter) You told him, "You are the devil. You are stopping the teaching of the Master. You are stopping the doings of a saint like me, etc.!!!

We try to convert every being into our belief. That's how sometimes we clash with other people, like our family members, our friends, our dogs and cats even; because we force them into our system without having a deep enough wisdom to handle the human psychology, to let them understand our good will and the benefits and the truth of our path. We just have a lot of tremendous energies, creative ideas; but, we do not have enough wisdom yet to handle this energy.

Therefore, in the beginning of our practice, when we're still in the Land of Action, we often committed a lot of mistakes and created more enemies than friends. Sometimes, luckily, we happen to catch a small fish; but we have lost a lot of bait, too, because of our beginner clumsiness. So, I think that's what the master meant by the Land of Action. He just simply said the Land of Action, but we can imagine what it is like to dwell in the Land of Action. I think that's just about it.

The Land Of Sorrow: Reflect On The Ephemeral Nature of Life

Then, the next stage of consciousness is the Land of Sorrow. What is meant by the Land of Sorrow? It is that after we have done so much, we have achieved so much, and maybe we have failed so much in many of our endeavors, then suddenly we realized; or we came into contact with so many ungrateful beings and then many things we wanted did not come true because of our hastiness, because of our clumsiness, because of our exasperated expectation of the Lord's power or because of the over-use of God power. Sometimes, we use it for magical power, we use the God power for healing purposes, or we use it for just small gain like for material comfort, for family reunion or the harmony of our relationship.

That is the time that we begin to reflect on the ephemeral nature of life. We begin to feel that, "Oh! After all, everything amounts to nothing at the end. It doesn't matter how much we struggle in this ephemeral life, we don't gain much, we can not keep much." God lets us into this Land of Sorrow so that we will be able to detach ourselves from all these mundane desires, from all these ephemeral expectations, so that we will be free -- free of desires, and free of all these unhappy phenomena which are caused by our own desires for these material, short-lasting things.

Enter The Land Of Love

After we detach ourselves from all these inordinate desires and attachments, then we will feel more calm and contented, and that is when we enter the so-called Land of Love. The Land of Love is the stage of consciousness in which we will feel that our desires, our attachments and our expectations are all gone; and now we begin to feel very peaceful, and we feel we can love.

After we have experienced so many disappointments and sorrows, then we begin to feel more settled down within ourselves, and we begin to feel the indiscriminating love between us and all sentient beings. Perhaps at that time we are willing to sacrifice just about anything, because of this love, because we feel that "you and I are the same and all sentient beings are the same. This is the stage, I think, in Taoism that they call "all beings are one -- something like that.

This is the stage that many of the masters and many religious groups have mentioned. But then, after we lost our self, lost the ego of the individual self, we will begin to find ourselves in absolute quietness, absolute silence, because we feel there's nothing more to talk about. We feel that we have understood everything. We feel that all beings are just peaceful and okay the way they are. Then, we will not have to worry about them or even try to help them. After we have understood the deep love within ourselves, there's nothing more we should do. That's what we feel. So, we become more quiet, more introverted. We do not like to speak much. We do not like to discuss anymore. We do not like to criticize people even, because we know everything is just arranged the way it is.

Perhaps this is also in Taoism. They call it at that stage where we feel that everything is okay under the sun. The same like in Buddhism, it is mentioned that, "I have rescued sentient beings but no sentient beings have been rescued. Something like we resign to the will of the Most High. Perhaps that's what it is. Many people mistake this stage for the final achievement of enlightenment.

The Land Of Silence: Searching For The Secrets Of Life And Death

After the Land of Sorrow the seeker of Truth entered the Land of Love, and after that he entered the Land of Silence. Then, when in the Land of Silence he has experimented with the mysteries of life and death, there was nothing more to be experienced. He knows what life is about, what death is about. He doesn't fear death anymore and he doesn't cling to life anymore than death itself.

The disciples asked him if that was the final stage of achievement. Also the master said, "No, because one day God took him to a higher sanctuary of inner realization. That land is called the Land of Laughter. Now, you wonder why, after this troublesome practice we just end up in a house of laughing. Do you believe that? According to this book. So, the Land of Laughter is suppose to be the inner-most sanctuary of God. Can this be true?

The Land Of Laughter: Live Life With A Sense of Humor

Now, after the life and death mysteries have been revealed to the seeker of the Truth, then, after some times of more effort and sincerity, God will take us to the Land of Laughter. That's where we have a lot of jokes and everything is funny to us. There are no more miserable Buddhas, there are no serious Bodhisattvas that walk around trying to show people that they have worked hard, that they are devoted to Master, that they love Master so much that they have to jump in front of everyone just to see the Master, etc. That's why you have often heard that most masters have a lot of humor, they can laugh at everyone, even God and themselves. That is the landmark of an enlightened person. They have arrived at the Land of Laughter, because they know everything is really just a game. It is very difficult for us if we don't understand that person. If we don't, we are not near there; and it's difficult to laugh with them. If such a master or such an enlightened sage has to mix with serious Buddhas or miserable Quan Yin Bodhisattvas (Master laughs), then they suffer; because they will be dragged back into the Land of Sorrow, and that's very suffocating.

I hope all of you in the future will transform yourselves from whatever stage into Bodhisattvas. Then, we will all go into the Land of Laughter, share jokes, and look at life in a very funny way, in a very light manner; that we can bear this together because, actually, life can be fun.

When I am in private, I laugh all day long (Master laughs). You can not understand it. Sometimes some of the disciples or some of my friends, they come and stay with me for a while, or if I invite them sometimes, I am always laughing. I make jokes with them. They all laugh; and if they are also funny, they make jokes and we laugh and laugh all day long. Sometimes, when I have dinner, if I have time, we laugh for about three, four hours until the dinner is finished and for no particular reason. Sometimes it's not a very funny joke; just we joke, so we feel so full of joy, we laugh all the time.

As soon as he brought the magazine back that evening, we looked for the phone number in it and found that right in Pennsylvania there was a branch Center. I called them right away and the brother initiate said to me excitedly, "You really have affinity with Master! She is coming to New York in three days time. If you want to see Her, you can come with us in our car. I was thrilled and said, "Thank You, brother and sister. I do want to go see Master. I have been longing for this day to come! The brother then replied, "No need to thank us. Just thank Master!

The Style Of The Quan Yin Family

Before I left, my daughter worried about me making such a long trip without being able to speak English. She said that New York is so big and there would be so many people going to see Master, what happened if I got lost? I told my daughter, "There won't be any problems. Simply leave it to Master!

When I meditated that night, I said to my inner Master, "No matter how difficult it might be, I will definitely go see You!

When the fellow initiates came to pick me up their sincerity, cordiality and steadfast faith in Master made my daughter's apprehension vanish completely, and she saw us off happily. There was only laughter and words of joy throughout the entire trip to New York. Although we had only just met, we were like family. As it was the first time I went to New York, and the first time I got to see Master and attend group meditation, I felt a little nervous. A sister initiate said to me affectionately, "Don't worry! Master will take good care of you.

Time And Space Stood Still When I Saw You

The happiness I felt when I was about to see Master was indeed very difficult to be described in words. In the greeting area of the airport, both elderly and young people gathered and lined up neatly to await Master's arrival. Though the colors of our skin and the languages we spoke were different, our hearts were one as we looked forward to respectfully greet our Master, whom one could hardly meet in aeons.

Master, so beautiful and radiant, finally appeared. She talked cheerfully and humorously to the disciples. My nervousness eased, and I felt as if time and space had stood still. I could only hear waves of laughter reverberating throughout the area. Like a kind mother, Master gazed attentively at each disciple. All the children were intoxicated in a sea of love.

In the past, I imagined many beautiful dreams of meeting Master. Now, my dreams had come true. I am overflowed with happiness, for I finally saw Her in person. I stood very near to Master; and with warm tears, I could not take my eyes off of Her.

Master, beckoned by Your love, we came to Your side to enjoy Your holy grace. For the rest of my life I will not forget the day I first saw You. Inspired by Your love and teachings, the brothers and sisters in the noble Quan Yin order became one in the holy love. There was nothing between us, even if we might have never met before, we cared about each other sincerely. I pray that even more people who have affinity can enter the door of the Quan Yin family.

The Victory Of The Universe

"When I want to learn something, I will find the best teacher, said brother Wang Zu Yuk most confidently. Brother Wang is a talented graduate from the Department of Arts. His unmatched talents were shown not only in the arts and music, but he also excelled in sports. However, in the realm of spirituality, he had been regretting that he was not able to find a convincing and reassuring model. Therefore, when Master's teachings were introduced to him by fellow practitioners, he became so excited that he jumped up and exclaimed, "Why is it that such a good and precious thing has not been told to me before!?

That was at the time when Master was lecturing and preaching the Truth in Formosa. He was very eager and enthusiastically queued up very early for the lecture. After the lecture, he was convinced by Master's most logical teachings and also moved by Her elegance and style. Moreover, Her love and wisdom had dissolved his sense of pride instantly. Without hesitation, he immediately applied for initiation. Soon after initiation, brother Wang participated in a karate competition. Inside the arena, before the competition, he quietly meditated on one side. Thus, he competed with a calm mind. As a result, he easily overcame one hurdle after the other and was awarded a double championship. In the same competition in the past, it was not easy to even get to the semi-finals. Even then, he might be eliminated and would never have the chance to compete in the finals. This time, it was wholly due to Master's blessing power that he was able to win the championship.

After practicing the Quan Yin Method more deeply, brother Wang was able to realize that the Tao of hardness and softness is, in fact, the proper use of force of Yin and Yang which Master always emphasizes. When we practice and reach the stage where we are able to balance the Yin and Yang and use them freely, the championship of the universe will then be ours. Master's elegance coupled with Her fairy-like dancing steps remind and demonstrate to the audience that a buoyant, happy and swift spirit is able to overcome any obstacle.

Master Only Cares To Set You Free

He cares to set you free. If a master, as great as Jesus, has told us like this, then we should take care. We should know what the Master wants from us, and what we truly want from a master.

If our family becomes more peaceful, harmonious and loving toward each other, then it's fine. Thank God, thank the Master power. Should it not be so, thanks God that you don't have an extra person to take care, to have to pay attention to, to have to worry whether he is pleased, she is happy with you or not.

You Are Freer If No One Loves You

You are freer if you have no one to love you. Truly, it is like that. Anything has a price. Even if a person loves you, you must take extra care of him or her, so that he is happy; because if he is not happy, you are not happy. But if a person hates you, pooh!...nice, good-bye. Nothing for you to do, nothing for you to worry about. It's not my fault if you hate me. That's good.

We don't wish people to hate us; but actually, the kind of love that we can have in this world is almost bondage. Even the good relationships are only bondage; because in thinking of them, we forget to set each others free. We demand from each other attention, love in return and all these kinds of things. Rarely the love between a couple flows freely without attachment, without demand, without command, without really any condition and without effort.

Mostly you must make an effort in order to keep it, and any effort takes time and energy. Any person who you love around you, you must take time and attention, even if you don't want to. You just have to pay attention and we are diverted from the one-pointed concentration inside. Not many people can concentrate inside and outside at the same time. Even if he or she can, there must be time and it's time consuming. While you pay attention to these things, you can not pay attention to that thing. Even if you can remember both things at the same time, you can only do one thing at a time. You can not pay attention to this one and then also at the same time fully pay attention to the other things.

I don't know if it is useful to stay in the world and teaching human kind, when most of them only desire material benefits, and cling to their personal happiness and achievements, at all cost. Most of you profess that you love me so much and you love to see me so much, would be better everyday; but it is not true. As soon as I ask you to come and help me, work for me, be near me, you say, "No! I still like my family life. I love my wife, my kids, my husband and my whatever-you-name-it. Every time you come here you say, "Oh, Master! We miss You. We miss You so much, please stay longer. Please stand there. Something like that. I don't know what you really want, and I don't think you know what you want either. (Master laughs.)

Let Go Of The Ego, Then We Are One

If you honestly ask yourselves to make a choice then you'll truly know what you want. Even after, if you love me so much, you have weighed the pros and cons, and you have decided that within your heart you love me more than your family members, more than your position, money or whatever education, and you come, then at that time, you still have to face your ego. You have to kill yourself before being able to become one with me.

These persons are rare. Everything attracts you. If you are able to help me in some kind of work, then you become attached to that work. You attach to the importance of that work, and your importance of doing that work, and you forget whom you are working for, for what purpose is the work there. You forget that you work because of me, because I ask you to do it, and because of the benefit to others that you do it.

Master's Holy Love Pervades the City of Catowice

Polish disciples participated in a three-day book fair held in the city of Catowice. There, a great number of visitors were attracted to Master's booth, thus more people had the fortune to learn about the Quan Yin Method.

After reading the free sample booklets and Supreme Master Ching Hai News magazines, many people felt very close to Master, as if they had known Her for a long time. Many of them registered to learn the Convenient Method, and expressed their willingness to try to become vegetarians.

The area displaying Master's teachings naturally become the focus of attention for the Polish people.

Among the guests, there was a Chinese lady who visited the fair with her photographer and attendants. When they passed Master's booth, she saw Her elegant bearing in Au Lac traditional clothes on the TV screen and immediately stopped in front of it to watch. At that time, the video tape being played was "The World Spiritual Leadership Award Ceremony. The lady was totally absorbed, ignoring the repeated requests of her attendants to move on, and insisted on watching the whole tape. Afterward, fellow initiates played the tape of the "Celestial Clothes Fashion Show . While watching, the lady kept praising Master's ingenious creations. She also asked her photographer to take a picture of her standing beside Master's large poster. She, as well as her companions, all purchased Master's books and tapes.

At the conclusion of the book fair, all Master's books, music tapes and video tapes were sold out.

Regaining The Spiritual Light

One chilly Saturday night our fellow initiates prepared lots of basic necessities -- including toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks and blankets to help some homeless people who live under bridges every night. We hoped that by receiving these items, they could at least have some comfort while living out there.

After completing the distribution and on our way back to the cars, all of us noticed that each of our vehicles had gotten a parking ticket. At the same time, there was a beautiful and fancy car parked nearby. Its owner told us that he just stopped to make a phone call, and now he needed to pay fifteen dollars for this ticket. Apparently he was upset. After complaining, he became curious about us and asked why we were out there on such a cold, chilly night. We answered his question by showing him Master's picture and told him what Master has taught us about helping people who are in need and how enjoyable it has become now that we are used to doing such work without feeling tired.

After listening to us, the man was touched by Master's great love and mercy. He mentioned that even though he has a successful business and the ability to help others, it has never occurred to him that he should do that when he see someone who needs help. He never really cared about those poor fellow beings' feelings and never thought that he should have done something to help. One of us then handed Master's free sample booklet to him. The man was very happy and replied, "Thanks a lot! If it had not been for this ticket, I would never have come to know about Master nor to find my true self.

We all know it was arranged by Master for us to help those who have been lost, to be able to get the chance to regain their own spiritual light. Report From Maryland U.S.A.

Have Faith In Master And Everything Will Be Fulfilled

An annual festival was held at John Hopkins University. Fellow initiates from the Centers in Maryland and Virgina took the chance to participate in this event to host a beautiful and successful display of Master's teachings.

Master blessed us with a wonderful location for the booth. It was at an intersection in the road, so everyone who passed by could easily see Master's large picture and Her special creations, which attracted the attention of the participants.

Fellow practitioners from the states of Maryland and Virginia, USA thank Master; most sincerely and earnestly for the opportunities to work for the benefit of sentient beings.

In order to share Master's holy love with everyone, fellow initiates enthusiastically interacted with guests of different cultural and religious backgrounds. Some of the guests felt that Master's teachings are perfect, so they came to visit our booth two days in a row, to make further inquiries. Fellow initiates sincerely prayed for Master's blessing, so all questions would be answered properly. One of the guests, a freelance photographer, was entirely impressed with Master's varied style of art. He took many pictures and came back the next day with the developed photos. Master's loving energy was so great that the photographer was beaming with joy as he showed the pictures and talked to the disciples.

Displaying Master's teachings at the festival, to share the Truth with all who are longing for It, was a joyful experience for all the disciples. Due to our faith in Master, it was a complete and successful display. We wish that all people would step toward the path of liberation and true freedom under Master's guidance.

A Nice Silent Retreat

The fellow initiates at the Seoul Center in Korea were longing for spiritual growth, so a very special silent retreat was held. Master has reminded us that it is easy to waste energy if we chat with others after meditation. Therefore, the outstanding feature of this special retreat was to keep silent. It helps us keep our energy and be focused to find the perfect quality within.

The retreat proceeded in good order. Every fellow initiate cherished this hard-to-get group meditation opportunity by shortening their resting period to increase their meditation time. Everyone felt invigorated spiritually and the meditation hall became filled with a peaceful atmosphere, just like in heaven.

After a two-day silent retreat, the fellow initiates' faces beamed with the light of purity and everyone smiled with satisfaction. This wonderful silent retreat was truly unforgettable that, as we return to our regular lives, we carry it with us to serve the world and spread Master's love and true teachings.

Children's Drawing Contest On Mother's Day

In the month of May, when songs praising mothers are being sung, carnations representing mother's love are blossoming with vigor. On the eve of Mother's Day, the local meditation center in Taipei specially arranged for the young initiates to have a Mother's Day drawing contest. Topics included: "Master In My Eyes and My Heart and "What I Want To Say To Master. The topics were announced beforehand so that the young initiates could ask Master for blessings and inspirations during meditation. Some of them carefully picked out their favorite photograph of Master to be the model for their drawing, while others prepared themselves by practicing drawing several of Master's pictures first.

On the day of the contest, the young initiates first finished their homework after school, then they arrived at the Center with their colorful markers, pens and crayons and started to draw their most perfect picture of "Mother . Young initiate Juang Ya-Jin wanted to say to Master, "You told us meditation would increase our mental stability and make our body more healthy. However, dear Master, during the long years, You must have collected a great deal of karma from all the sentient beings. You must have suffered a lot so that we could enjoy the beautiful heavenly atmosphere. Mother's Day is coming soon, we give You our best wishes for good health, happiness and peace. One of the scene that impressed her the most was Master giving a lecture while sitting on a lotus mat. She drew the lotus pond as she imagined it should be. The picture with beautiful and pure lotus blossoms was like the Kingdom of God with total harmony and tranquility. She put herself in the picture because she believes she is a Buddha-to-be.

Young initiate Pen Tsan-Ti used very bright yellow markers to draw a little meditating Buddhi. The sketch was simple yet interesting. His view of Master was loving and compassionate, with infinite love in Her look. He also meditates everyday. He said, "Master is the inner strength forever within me.

Using a variety of colorful pens, young fellow initiates from Taipei, Formosa depict in their drawings what they wanted to say to Master.

Another young initiate, Tsai Ping-Tsih, wanted Master to take good care of Her own eyes and be healthy and happy forever. Chong Kuo-Wei said that after initiation one could go to heaven and he wished Master peace and good health. Wang Chih-Jing wrote on his drawing, "How can one progress in school? They say, "Meditate more. and "I think so, too.

With their colorful creations, the young initiates expressed their love for Mommy Master. Some pictures were so bright and colorful, representing the saintly illumination from within the spiritual practitioners. Some were able to truly depict Master's magnanimity and grace. Young initiate Lee I-Jung said from the bottom of her heart, "The best gift to give Master is to practice diligently and become Master's good worker to spread the Quan Yin Method someday."

Making Friends And Spreading The Truth Through The Arts

Upon the invitation of the "Healthy Baby Conference and Excellent Book Show, co-organized by the Zhanghua City Hall and the Zhanghua Young Women's Chamber of Commerce, the Zhanghua Center presented a thorough and excellent introduction of Master's works to the participants who have affinity with Her.

During the conference, Master's poems, books, music and paintings were on display, while videos of Her various artistic activities, such as the S.M. Celestial Clothes Fashion Show, musical compositions and video tapes of Ching Hai Day, were shown. Master's heavenly voice enlivened the venue. Many people stopped at the fellow initiates' booth, and when they saw Master on video, a paragon of elegance and talent, they were full of admiration.

People yearning for the Truth inquired about Master's teachings, asked for sample booklets and copies of the Supreme Master Ching Hai News magazine, and bought Her books. A businessman who frequently travels to Japan asked for some sample booklets in Japanese and said that he would take these teachings to his relatives and friends in Japan. In addition, many innocent children standing before the TV sets at the venue watched attentively and danced to the rhythm of the music. This proves once again what Master has said, "Children are the closest to heaven.

Before noon, the wife of the county governor arrived at the conference. She stopped at the fellow initiates' booth and listened to their enthusiastic and detailed introductions to Master's artistic creations and teachings. The lady was very pleased and praised with admiration, "A self-taught person who is capable of doing everything must be fully enlightened.

Several days before the Book Show, the weather forecaster announced that there might be thunderstorms and very bad weather. Thus, the fellow initiates worried that this might influence the event. But, on that day, the weather amazingly turned out to be very nice. Thanks to God's blessing, the fellow initiates' sincere prayers were answered. During this event, Master's supreme teachings through Her beautiful creations, music and color brought us the heavenly message. It deeply attracted and moved people who were sincerely seeking the Truth, and elevated their spirits.

Master's heavenly beauty attracts many local folks from Zhanghua to gather around the booth.

The Communication Method In The Higher World

Sometimes you say that no matter where the Master is, She will answer our prayers. A lot of people have told me about their experiences like this. Most of them are fellow initiates; however, many non-initiates have also experienced this. It is not that I have a radio here and overhear what you think about inside. Instead, we have another kind of magnetic-wave communication system, so we know others' thinking. We do not need to record it in the worldly language. We understand what long and short magnetic waves mean, the speed used for the emergency wave, and the meaning of slow and gentle waves.

An enlightened master knows the meaning of the varied wave forms radiated from the suffering beings, and responds with messages to help them or tell them what to do. In this situation, we say that this enlightened master saves the suffering beings, or they received messages from within and escaped the disaster. The enlightened master and the suffering beings are one within; they have the same kind of vibration inside, even though they have not found their own real selves. However, the enlightened master knows how to communicate with the real selves of the suffering beings, tells them how to overcome their crises. They receive helping messages just like we receive messages from the radio.

Enter The United Planets' Network

That is why we need to practice the Quan Yin Method. The Buddhist sutra mentioned that the Buddha speaks a kind of language understood by all sentient beings. We use magnetic waves, vibrations or passwords to communicate. There is only one language in the universe. Whoever understands this password, knows how to receive and radiate it, can communicate with the whole universe.

The Highest Bi-directional Communication System

Similar to this, the practitioner is the one who enters the system in which all beings are one. No matter where we are, the master station can receive our emergency requests, know what we are going to say. The radio and broadcasting station is uni-directional, but our system is bi-directional like the telephone. For example, you understand whatever I say and I understand what you say, too. We are able to communicate both ways. It is the highest communication system even without any equipment.

However, if we have not practiced to a high level, the communication seems to be one way. Only the master can receive your message, but you can not receive the master's message. We may feel we receive something; however, the message seems not clear to us, because there is some obstacles in between. Maybe we have not tuned our instrument completely. Sometimes, we make a phone call or turn on the radio, we hear a lot of noises and can not get a clear message, then we have to fix it promptly. Maybe we are far away from the radio station and blocked by mountains or barriers. Like the cordless telephone, it can not get through in mountains.

However, our communication will not be obstructed by the mountain unless we obstruct ourselves with barriers like mountains and block Master's blessing. We doubt Master, or we are not confident enough, so we think we are not worthy to be saved by the Master. We are used to thinking we have heavy karma, or we feel arrogant and would like to be on our own rather than rely on others. There are many reasons for us to be blocked in our own prejudice and put ourselves in a prison without communicating or feeling the Oneness. That is why we can not receive messages from the Master. For example, if we wear a raincoat, then we will not be affected by the rain.

If you want to find God, I have actually not much to teach you except how to be quiet, and what is the best time to catch Hirm. We can make a rendezvous with Hirm everyday, and then at the exact time Hes will appear. Then, we become so acquainted with Hirm, Hes appears everywhere, anytime, any hour; and even when we are so acquainted with Hirm, others will see Hirm within us or near us, standing by. That is so good. Then, this so-called God power will flow out like the ocean or a stream and benefits anyone that comes nearby like sandalwood.

Only when you are satisfied, then you can satisfy others.

Actually, our thinking is very important. We should take care that our thinking is always good, because thinking is the material for the physical appearance of all things in this universe. If it is too strong, it will materialize right away. If it is not strong enough, it will take some time to materialize.

The more we are steeped in these material surroundings, the less we know ourselves.

We have to be careful of how we act in everyday life, because it's not we, alone, that get the full scale of responsibility of what we do, what we say, or what we think; but we might affect other people.

Every time you pay attention a lot to one thing -- one-pointedly and wholeheartedly, that is meditation. Now, I pay attention only to the inner power, to the compassion, to the love, to the merciful quality of God, and that is my meditation.

We make ourselves suffer because we identify ourselves with our mistakes, our successes, our failures, our this, that and the other, and the circumstances that affect us.

We were so amazed that the driver was so lucky. When we saw his honest, kind face, we could not help but asked him, "Are you a Buddhist?

The driver answered, "Yes.

We asked him again, "Are you a believer of Avaloketesvara?

This time he said, "Oh, well, I believe in Supreme Master Ching Hai. How excited we were, when we heard him say that, that he was one of our brothers. We greeted each other happily. This brother then told us that before the crash, he was playing Master's Buddhist chanting tape in his car. That could explain why when both of our cars collided into one another, he felt he was lifted up, carried by a giant Buddha's hand and flown to the safest ground. Even when the policemen came to examine the accident site, they could not believe what they saw and one exclaimed, "I just can not believe this!

There is no worldly logic to explain the Master's wonderful way.

The True, Great Master Who Dresses Up

Just as I was feeling sorry, a big temple emerged in front of me. Someone took me inside and pointed to a person on my right, dressed like a Ching Dynasty emperor (later, I saw a photo of Master dressed like that), who seemed to be exhausted. The person who took me inside told me to hurry and prostrate. He said that that was my Master, someone truly great and who had more powers than the three saints whom I saw earlier.

A week later, given to me by a friend, I had the opportunity to read Master's sample booklet. I became a complete vegetarian right away. Also, having read the sample booklet, I was enlightened; my dream that I could not understand, despite my best efforts, was clarified. I know now that Master is the reincarnation of these past three saints. In response to sentient beings at large, and to deliver them, She allows Herself to take a role and give lectures in the big theater of life. I am positive that the great wisdom of the great saints in the past is concentrated in Supreme Master Ching Hai, the living Buddha. Each word, each sentence of Master's teachings is the Truth. She does not reject any religions. She is full of compassion and love for all of creation in the universe.

I find my spiritual experiences truly impossible to forget. In my dreams, Master often touches my forehead, and sometimes She takes my hand and flies me to somewhere of an even higher level to learn lessons. When I wake up, these experiences are always vivid in my mind, and I am filled with bliss. Ever since I began to practice, I understand the laws of cause and effect of the universe, and I have become more affable to everyone.

Master's supreme consciousness deeply attracts all the sentient beings in the universe. May even more people be able to share this rare treasure of all times, the Quan Yin Method; so that the world will be filled with bliss and become heaven on Earth soon.

Blessed Rain Spreads Everywhere

Korean Harvest Anniversary

Before they played each video lecture, fellow initiates prayed for Master's blessing. As a result, the day before each showing, all of Korea was showered with spring rain. The rain continued for over a month, which then alleviated the country's drought. Last year, for the entire winter, the whole country experienced little snow. Even when spring came, it never rained; and the Korean people were afraid that a long drought would ensued. However, Master's loving blessing brought rich nectar rain just in time.

Because the Korean people enjoy spiritual study and searching for Truth, every video lecture was packed. The people attending the lectures all listened attentively to Master's words and gained greater understanding that the Quan Yin Method is the only way to return to God. In Seoul, during the 'question and answer' period that followed, many people jumped at the chance to ask questions and the number of questions was many times greater than usual.

Furthermore, a spiritual teacher who practiced another form of meditation said, "If the behavior of a Master and Her disciples is good in every way, then She must be a good Master, and Her disciples must also be very devoted to Her. Moreover, this spiritual teacher sincerely asked for posters with Master's picture, and hoped that he could introduce Her to his disciples.

On the day of Pusan's video lecture, one lady suddenly wanted to come to Pusan to visit an old friend. This friend wanted to attend the lecture because her daughter and grandson are fellow initiates, so she invited the lady to go with her. As the lady watched Master's video tape, she began to remember that a few days earlier she had dreamed of Supreme Master Ching Hai. She, thus, developed an affinity with Her. The lady was a sincere Buddhist who had practiced for decades and had always longed to learn the true way. Now, she understands that the Quan Yin Method is the only way to liberation, enlightenment, to return to the Buddha's land, the Kingdom of God; so, she registered for the Convenient Method and is waiting for initiation.

Following the video lecture, enough vegetarian food to feed several hundred people was served. Most said that they had never before eaten such varied and delicious vegetarian dishes. At the request of many guests wishing to learn how to cook vegetarian food, the fellow sisters explained how to cook several easy and delicious vegetarian dishes. They, then, understood that vegetarian food is very easy to cook, delicious and healthy; and corrected their concepts about spiritual practice and a vegetarian diet. The joyful atmosphere seemed like that of a sumptuous banquet; everyone ate with gusto.

Consequently, due to these lectures, the families of fellow initiates obtained a better understanding that Supreme Master Ching Hai is a perfect spiritual Master; and one after another they registered for initiation. The guests took Master's sample booklets and News magazines and joyfully left with satisfied smiles on their faces. Many guests who could not enter the conference room went directly to visit the Seoul Meditation Center. After reading Master's books, they decided to pursue spiritual practice. Korean fellow initiates thus experienced once more that Master continuously transmits boundless love to their country. During this activity, the entire families of many fellow initiates devoted themselves to spreading Her teachings. They felt deeply that spreading the Truth was really helpful to their own spiritual practice; and at the same time, many more people would have the opportunity to learn about the Quan Yin Method so that their souls would be liberated.

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Master for bestowing Her loving blessings on the great nation of Korea.

Korean fellow practitioners receive the guests well; not only with an exquisite vegetarian meal, but also with Master's books to satisfy their spiritual thirst.

How To Govern Without Governing

Create The Affinity To Help

It's not true that we can smoothly do whatever work we want to do. Perhaps it is because we never helped others in our previous lives, or we have more karma in the past by doing more destructive work than helping others. Therefore, now even when we, as spiritual practitioners, try to help others to compensate for our past mistakes, the negative forces still obstruct us. It's our maya from within, not from without -- such is karma. Karma is the accumulation of our past habits, recorded in our subconscious mind. Even when we are reborn into a new body, the impressions still remain with us and become the fixed karma in this life. The circumstances encountered in this life are the results of the merits or mistakes of our previous lives.

If we do not practice spiritually, even if we want to help the nation or the world, we still can not do it. Sometimes, I ask you to do work not because I want something, but to give you the opportunity for spiritual practice, to earn merits, and to help others in order to create the affinity to help, and in turn, be of greater help in the future.

Practice Doing Work That Benefits Others

The more merits and good fortune we have, the more smoothly we can carry out Master's work as we are used to doing it and are familiar with it. A talented person, if not familiar with the work, he may not do it well. The same with spiritual practice. If we haven't done much in our previous lives to do work that benefits others, even if we sincerely and willingly want to do it in this life, we can still encounter lots of obstacles, due to the lack of practice. Our system, our emotions and spirits are not used to it. If we ask it to do work now, it would be very clumsy, since it is so used to destroying things. Therefore, when you push the button, it starts to destroy. However, after practicing the Quan Yin Method for a long time, we can adjust ourselves. The more we meditate, the more we communicate with our inner selves, the more we contemplate the light and the sound, the more lighthearted and energetic we will be to help others. At that time we do not need to ask to serve, we will have the opportunity to serve. Naturally, there will be opportunities for us to serve, and we will serve spontaneously, not thinking that we are serving at all. Therefore, it is said, "Discipline oneself, take care of one's family, govern the nation, and then pacify the world. At that time, our body, speech and mind are all empty. "Empty does not mean we disappear or when other people hit us, we have no feelings of pain, like woods. That is not "empty . It means that we do not care at all about what we possess and we do not like wealth or fame.

We work and contribute only because there is a need at that moment. When there is a need for us to do, we do it. After we have done it, that's all. There are no other purposes to it. Of course, we should help those who need help. When others need help, we just help. Helping is like not helping at all. In the Diamond Sutra it is written: Give without giving is the true giving. When we help others, it is like eating food or washing our hands. We don't feel especially proud for washing our hands. That state of mind is just like

Who Can Pacify The World?

Why is our world in such a mess? So full of misery and war? It's because the so-called leaders do not discipline themselves. They do not completely become empty. While they are serving, they still want others to know and to have results. They want appreciation and rewards. They want recognition, therefore, they struggle for fame and profit and forget to serve. They are too busy grabbing fame and profit, then they are overcome by greed, hatred and ignorance. Their hatred and contending attitudes become dominant and they can not do the right things.

I told you to practice the Quan Yin Method, not to ask you to leave your job or to leave the world, but to ask you to do an even better job and serve others better. There is a Chinese saying, "Discipline oneself, take care of the family, govern the nation, and then pacify the world. He has no problem governing nations no matter how much money you pay him or how many things you give him he will still serve others because he needs nothing! A person like that can truly govern the nation. If he still wants to govern, it is not good. When he has no desire to govern, then he can govern well. He does it naturally. If he is called upon to govern, he can govern. He does what he can do. He does when there is a need. He doesn't mind what kind of work. Whatever he does is to serve others. Whenever there is a need, he does it, whether it's sweeping the floor, mixing cement, laying bricks, or being a king. If one can achieve this level of doing for the sake of other's needs, not because of any personal intentions, then he can govern any number of nations, no problem. If one hasn't reached that level, he can not even govern himself, not to mention letting him govern a nation or pacify the world. Many people are eager to govern a nation or to pacify the world without first examining their inner attributes and abilities; such people can mess up this world.

Goodwill is truly useless. Without moral character, whatever amount of goodwill is just empty talk, jokes and lies -- totally useless. Everyone can go out there and shout, "I want to govern a nation. I want to help the poor. I want to change this, I want to change that. But without changing themselves, without becoming empty, and without being selfless, whatever they do just becomes messier and worse. Understand?

Being Humble Is The Key To Helping Others

You will understand many things when you work with me. My work is really difficult to do. When we do outside work it is very smooth and easy to make money, very simple. Of course, there are difficulties, too; but it is not as difficult as doing my work. Doing a little of my work, you will feel lots and lots of pressure, and you will make mistakes in everything. No matter how much goodwill you have, how hard you work, or how much effort you put in, you still make mistakes. Then, you will understand how many obstructions you have. I don't need you to do the work. I just want you to understand yourselves in order to rectify yourselves and become more humble. When we are willing to rectify ourselves, we can help others more readily. Then, without trying earnestly to help, you will spontaneously help others.

Super Lover

In the past, I have had an illusion about love. I have been expecting that one day a real perfect and selfless lover will appear before my eyes. After following Master, I finally got enlightened.

Every time I saw Master, She was so natural and acted appropriately for any situation; She had the style of a gentleman, the courage of a man, not too soft and not too harsh -- completely a style of Her own without a sense of heaviness! Completely clear-cut, She stood boldly between heaven and Earth! What I have been looking for is this kind of magnificent spirit, which can be both masculine and feminine, and can take care of anyone. Thanks to Master's teaching by example, to allow my stupid heart to be enlightened, and to know what I was really yearning for. I know, only through ceaselessly improving myself, beautifying myself, loving myself and others, that I could find the super lover that I have been seeking for hundreds and thousands of years -- the real self.

Importance Of Meditation

I think it is best to meditate in the morning; it is very easy, then, to have inner experiences and see the light, because at that time we have a relatively clear mind after having had enough sleep. After the right amount of sleep but still with a little bit of sleepiness left, this is the best time for meditation. Of course, it is most difficult to get up, just as when we have had some food but are not completely full, and still want a little bit more. This is the best time for meditation.

After a night of rest, many difficulties, obstacles and karmic hindrances are washed away. These impressions and negative influences from the previous day are all washed away and forgotten! All of our causes and effects are paid off in our dreams. So, we are very fresh when we wake up in the morning. Therefore, it is very easy to see the light when meditating, easy to communicate with the highest qualities within us.

Some people work at night and sleep during the day. Depending on your situation, you should meditate after waking up. If you can't get up at seven o'clock, then get up at nine, but you should still meditate, at least for a little while. Otherwise, our minds will not be stable, and we will view good as bad and vice versa. We will easily be contaminated by other people's karma and be pulled down. Our level will drop quickly, or it will be hard to progress, even if it doesn't drop. We will not be able to have a cheerful mood, and anything we do will not go very smoothly. If someone offends us, we will not be able to forgive him, and we cannot think about anything clearly. So, meditation is very important.
