Look at them!
The red fireworks,
A continuous expansion of mercy and love.

Like the radiance of the infinite light within.
The green fireworks,
An emission of inspiring and positive energy.
The purple fireworks,
Like a display of resplendent make-up.

The dark night is no longer silent,
Bliss pervades each corner.

Aloha! The Patriarch Of Honolulu Visits

The Spiritual Leader Of Our Time

During his term as Mayor, Mr. Fasi, on behalf of the Hawaiian Government, commended Master with the World Peace Award and an honorary citizenship of U.S.A.. He also designated that day as Ching Hai Day. He highly respects Master for Her ideals of peace and undiscriminating love, and also for Her compassion to help disaster victims.

This time he squeezed some time into his very busy schedule and came to Formosa to seek Master's words of wisdom. Stepping out of the airport, Mr. & Mrs. Fasi were immediately surrounded by a thousand enthusiastic fellow practitioners. Mr. Fasi said that the welcome was one befitting a president. The couple were extremely touched by this delightful surprise, which swept away all their exhaustion, immersing them in a sea of love.

A Brightly Lit Hsihu Greets The Guests

Hsihu Center was a sea of radiant lights. Amid a blissful atmosphere, joyous music reverberated in each corner of the Center. Driving Her mini vehicle, Master led the disciples to greet Mr. and Mrs. Fasi at the main entrance. When the guests arrived they were instantly surrounded by a sea of people offering flowers. Master employed great efforts to "rescue" them from the crowd, and took them to the "five star" guest room especially prepared for them.

Master had spent the last few days compassionately and meticulously instructing the resident disciples on how to arrange the guest room. The room was fully prepared with all the necessities, and elegantly furnished (some were from Supreme Master Ching Hai herself) to make the guests feel totally at home and not like strangers in an unfamiliar land.

The next morning, after a sweet night's rest, Mr. and Mrs. Fasi took breakfast and then strolled leisurely through the Center amid fragrant flowers and singing birds. In the Rainbow Garden, they couldn't help praise its dreamlike beauty, and marvelled at this children's paradise. The classical Zigzag Bridge presented a totally different scene to the guests, who were amazed to know that the bridge was built in such a short time. Walking through the Forest Hall, they realized that this is the holy place where fellow practitioners meditate and spend their time with a Buddha. Wandering along the Nectar River in the Au Lac Garden, they seemed to have entered a carefree and leisurely world.

The show windows of Celestial Clothes earned special admiration from Mrs. Fasi. In the glorious Art Gallery, the guests carefully appreciated each of Master's paintings, and marvelled at Master's boundless talents. In that fresh and tranquil morning, Mrs. Fasi sat on a swing reading Master's magazines attentively, while Mr. Fasi was planning to visit some old politician friends in Taipei. Unfortunately, all these friends were out on official trips, so none of them could be reached. At noon, the guests enjoyed a sumptuous and delicious vegetarian meal in Taipei; they were greatly impressed with Formosa's culinary artistry.

On the morning of November 25, the guests toured Hsihu by car and took some photos for posterity. They then proceeded to Song Shan Airport to take a flight to Pingtung, in the warm southern part of Formosa, where they would attend another joyful event - a Vegetarian Garden Feast held at Laiyi Center.

When the airplane arrived at the Shao Gang Airport, Kaohsiung, fellow practitioners from Kaohsiung and Pingtung were already waiting at the airport for the arrival of Master and the guests. After being transferred to the airport terminal in a special bus, Mr. Su, Assistant Manager of Eva Airlines; the wife of Legislator Li Bi-Xian; and the wife of Congress Representative Wang Wen-Zheng, offered flowers to them.

A huge welcoming crowd occupied all the passage ways on the upper and lower floors of the airport. They offered flowers and garlands, and welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Fasi with continuous cheering of "Aloha!" Later, a press conference was held in the VIP Room of the airport.

The Chinese Broadcasting Corporation, the biggest radio station in the country, also conducted an interview on the spot, which was broadcasted on December 2, the day of the Legislator Election. This interview had special and profound meaning because as a politician, Mr. Fasi, talked about the importance of spiritual values in politics on the day of such an important election.

"Politicians Should Pursue Spiritual Practice,"

Former Mayor Fasi Tells Reporters

At the press conference, Mr. Fasi was asked about the purpose of his trip. He replied that I have not seen Supreme Master Ching Hai for some time and since it is a holiday weekend - Thanksgiving - I felt it was about time to pay a visit to Her. So, I came here to learn a little bit more about Her philosophy and also to learn a little bit more about what's happening here in your election and in the government of the Republic of China.

The reporters then asked Mr. Fasi, as a politician and a leader of society, to give some advice to the politicians in the world. Mr. Fasi said, "I think that any political party or anybody who says he belongs to a political party but has no spiritual values - if he has no or she has no spiritual values - they are no use to civilization, to the country he might stay in."

Commenting on his belief in vegetarianism, Mr. Fasi humorously said that since he left the office of Mayor, he had been strictly observing an almost pure vegetarian diet. Aided by exercise, he lost 28 pounds in weight. Basically, he highly recommended vegetarianism, as it facilitates good health and longevity. Talking about the vegetarian food in Formosa, he said it tasted so good, and he had eaten too much. He said if he keeps eating the vegetarian food in Formosa, he would put on 30 pounds very quickly.

When the reporters asked about his impressions during the two days, Mr. Fasi replied, "I have never been welcomed with as much enthusiasm, love and appreciation as people welcome me here in these two days, and that was all brought about by the Master here. I will never forget this as long as I live."

He was also greatly impressed by the rapid development and prosperity of Formosa. The press conference concluded in a delightful mood. Escorted by police cars, Master and the guests went directly to Laiyi Center.

No One Can Resist Loving Master

A brilliant dragon dance greeted the guests at Laiyi Center. Threads of smoke and bonfires could be seen everywhere because there was going to be a barbecue feast that evening. Amid the greeting and cheering, Mr. and Mrs. Fasi again experienced the enthusiasm of fellow practitioners in Southern Formosa. Before the dinner began, Mr. and Mrs Fasi were invited to give a speech on stage: "Joyce and myself bring to you the love of the people of Hawaii in the symbolic word 'Aloha!' I have been blessed in many ways throughout my life. But I have never in all my life experienced the love, the friendship from Supreme Master Ching Hai and all Her disciples during my visit to this beautiful island of Formosa. The main reason why I have come here is to try to find out why this representative of God has the attraction to attract so many people from all around the world.

"You make me feel very humble and very unimportant. Supreme Master Ching Hai is a person that brings joy and love, understanding and enlightenment to everyone. She is a kind of person that anybody, regardless of what religion you belong to, can understand what She is trying to do. I am a Catholic, and yet I see so much of what She believes in and what She talks about is so close to what I believe in and to the Commandments that I try to live by. I wish that on this troubled globe, this Earth, that we had a dozen people like Supreme Master Ching Hai. If we did, we would have everlasting peace and understanding."

"Supreme Master Ching Hai is the kind of person that you can fall in love with. Seriously, I feel so honoured to be received by someone who obviously has been blessed by God to carry the message of love, goodwill and friendship amongst all people without any discrimination. Joyce and myself, again, do wish this great lady all the success in the world; and I will do anything I possibly can to help Her in Her good work."

"You people are saying to the rest of the world: be enlightened about your life, be fair with other people even if you are of a different religion, and observe God's Ten Commandments. Do that, and we will eventually see eternal peace for all of our people."

"I would like to close my talk with a simple request. No one person can accomplish what I have just spoken about. Each and everyone in this audience must help Supreme Master Ching Hai. Try to enlighten the people whose lives you touch on a daily basis. Do this and you will help Her succeed in Her quest to bring enlightenment to all of the people on this Earth."

You Represent Aloha!

Mrs Fasi was extremely touched by everyone's cordiality. She said, "You are truly an example of Aloha!" After their touching speeches, and in the company of Mr. Jian Jin-Jen, Councilor of Pingtung County, and his wife; and Mr. Lin Jin-Ching, Edification Supervisor of Kaohsiung Prison, the guests joined Master for an outdoor candlelight dinner, savoring the exotic taste of a vegetarian barbecue. While they ate, they watched the brilliant and colorful fireworks amid the evening breeze.

Even more VIPs gathered at Laiyi Center on Sunday. Despite the prevailing cold weather, Pingtung was full of sunshine, making people feel comfortably warm. Present on this occasion were: Miss Li Siu-Mei, photographer and reporter for Public TV; Mr. Huang Wu-Zhong from the China Religious Times; Mr. Wu Meng-Da, Manager of Chao An Travel Agency, and his family; Mr. Liu from the Israel Cultural Exchange Office in Formosa, and many others.

In the morning, there was a vegetarian buffet feast, with delicious vegetarian dishes served continuously on tables placed throughout the Center. At noon, there were entertainment programs performed by fellow practitioners. The richness of the performances and the attentive preparation by fellow initiates won Master's praise.

A Delightful Surprise For The "Guardian Of The Universe"

Before the program commenced, Mr. and Mrs. Fasi gave Master a delightful surprise. They arranged for a crystal statue -- Guardian of the Universe - to be awarded to Master. It was an angel with wings and a halo above its head. The whole body was crystal, pure and flawless. On the base of the statue was written: To our beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai - Guardian of the Universe.

Later, when Mr. Fasi was about to leave Formosa, he was again interviewed by reporters at Chiang Kai Shek Airport. Talking about why he gave this award to Master, he said, "I love Supreme Master Ching Hai for the work that She does for all kinds of people, no matter who they are; and for trying to help them if they have not found the meaning of life. She is a good person for that."

Madam Chen Chung Ta-Ming, on behalf of international friends in Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia, also presented a Lotus Incense Burner to Master to express their veneration for Her. They hope that Master will not forget Her friends in that region.

Master also prepared some gifts in return, including special Chinese cultural items -- Jiao Ji Pottery and Gao Shan tea leaves (which had been awarded this years Gold Medal), and a set of Master's painting albums.

Master said humorously, "I have a bigger surprise than you do, because my bag is bigger."

That day, Mrs. Fasi attended the event looking most elegant and graceful. She was wearing Celestial Clothes designed by Master. Mrs. Fasi pointed out that the particular Celestial outfit looked very much like the traditional ceremonial costume of Hawaii. She said that it was not only beautiful but also very comfortable. She even wore the Celestial outfit when she went to the airport to return to America.

When the performance finished, Mr. and Mrs. Fasi had lunch with Master. They then went to Shao Gang Airport to catch a flight to Chiang Kai Shek Airport, Taoyuan, before returning to Hawaii.

The three-day visit passed very quickly. Mr. and Mrs. Fasi boarded the plane as fellow practitioners zealously bid farewell to them. They went home filled with Master's love.

At Chiang Kai Shek Airport, reporters asked Mr. Fasi to express his view about Master. Mr. Fasi said, "There is one thing I like about Master. When She was on Honolulu television She said, 'I tell people, if you need help, I am here; but if you are satisfied with what you have, okay, that's all right too.' I heard that and I felt that, She is a very wise person to think that way. The result is, I think, She got a lot of notice, you know, disciples. That's the way it ought to be. She is a wonderful person, and no question about it. People are born, they live, they don't know where they came from, where they are going. There is no direction, and a lot of people don't believe in the Creator. When anyone has the courage, the calling, the feeling, for doing what She is doing, you cannot step aside and criticize Her because you happen to be in a different religion. That is why I wish Her well, and I will do everything I can to help Her."

Successful Diplomacy

After seeing the guests off at Laiyi Center, Master talked about the importance of security when a internationally political friend comes to visit. Master said, "The country becomes very nervous even when something wrong happens to an ordinary American visiting here, not to mention to important personages. We should know how to prevent problems. If we have fulfilled our duty, our conscience is at ease. It is also very good for the country if we can prevent some bad situations from occurring."

Master also told everyone, "You should know how to act. Every person should act as a guard; keep your eyes open, greet the guests while observing if any bad people have slipped in."

In order to protect the guests, protect Formosa, and protect the disciples, Master's worked laboriously and exhaustively beyond the imagination of most disciples during these few days visit.

In receiving these guests, who have the same ideals, with such great hospitality, Master has also helped Formosa to accomplish a brilliant diplomatic task. Master explained that there are two reasons for treating guests with such earnest hospitality: first, to repay their friendship; second, to give a good impression of Formosa to the Americans.

"Chinese people have a hospitable tradition. I want the foreigners to know that we really have a culture, not the culture of singing karaoke, wearing mini-skirts, or the ability to invent machines. Culture means the people of this nation are very hospitable, benign and generous to share everything with people outside. Only then, we are a people with culture. I want them to know that the Chinese people are a people of culture."

Master's Art Creations

The Secrets Of Master's Paintings

"Retreat," "Iris - The Flower In The Heart Will Not Wither" and "Simple Joy" belong to impressionism; "The Clown" and "Harmony" belong to cubism; "Moon Night" and "Paulownia Trees" belong to innocent form; "Ordinary Dream," "Magnolia Tree" and "Desert Flower" belong to neo-classicism; New Era" and "Peaceful Time" belong to abstract, superficial and indescribable form.

There are many other paintings that cannot be classified. Supreme Master Ching Hai's paintings combine all forms and methods, and transcend any content or techniques of the past and present.

Other amazing facts are that, Supreme Master Ching Hai has never gone to any art school or learned painting from anyone, and has never studied the painting techniques of any America or foreign painting masters, of the past or present. Besides, most of Her works were painted during Her world-wide lecture tours, in Formosa, Costa Rica, United States, Japan, Panama, Europe, Australia, etc. An enlightened Master lecturing throughout the world is so busy that there isn't even enough time to eat and sleep, where does She find time to paint? Furthermore, painting requires many cumbersome tools, and She never resides peacefully in one place waiting for Her inspirations to come.

Nevertheless, various oils, pastels and chalk paintings have been finished one after another, are of very high artistic standard, and generally acclaimed by art critics of the world. What they don't know is, this enlightened Master painter can even create time and space.

Even more inconceivable is Master's stunning speed of painting -- as fast as dreaming, thunder or lightning. As well, immediately the joy of creation emerges. Without a relaxed mind, how can paintings like "Night on Yang Min Mountain," "Desert Flower" and "Hsihu Sunset" be accomplished? The ever changing sunset, the brilliant yet harmonious contrast in colours, the hazy late evening, the sky and the earth, mountains and trees, wind and clouds, all rest peacefully on the canvas.

There is a hidden secret behind Supreme Master Ching Hai's paintings: After each painting is finished, She "spoils" it slightly so as to make it not absolutely perfect. For instance, in "Moon Night," there is a red spot at the lower right corner. With careful observation, one can see that it is not a seal usually used by Chinese painters; it is only a red spot, as if it was dropped carelessly on the canvas. However, it warms up the whole picture! This is also a lesson teaching us how to accept this imperfect world, in our efforts to make it perfect.

Supreme Master Ching Hai carries the viewer from one miracle to another miracle, from one discovery to another, from one amazement to further amazements; and finally lets them realize God's greatness and love, the infinity of heaven and earth, the incredibility of creation and the subtle talents in each of us.

A Test Of Desire For Fame And Profit

Spoken by Supreme Master Ching Hai, Hsihu Center, Formosa

I do not mind the qualities that you possess, but you will gradually become worse because you have been spoiled by others. People keep praising you, so you cannot step down. You cling to your honour and do not want to lose face; so you frantically do work for the society, the Center, for friends or fellow practitioners. Consequently, you neglect your family even more, just to gain more respect. Therefore you have to be cautious.

You must always check yourselves sincerely, so as to immediately detect the slightest desire for fame and profit, or any negative thoughts that you may have anytime. Otherwise later, you cannot do things properly, and you will have hindrances. If no one scolds you, you definitely cannot do a good job, or some unpleasant situations may arise. So it is really troublesome! This is because the invisible guards of the dharma always know. You just cannot blame anyone.

Wake Up From Your Dream

Life Is Like A Dream

We always stay in a sort of dream. Everything in this world seems like a dream to me after many years of searching. Just like a man who wakes up from a long dream.

We also wake up after we die. Some wake up in beautiful surroundings. Some wake up to find themselves in a strange, peculiar world. Some wake up to find themselves still in this world, in the same surroundings, but a different kind of body. Well, the same body, just different kind of feeling, different kind of movement, different kind of bodily functions. Some wake up to find themselves in a suffering world. And some wake up to find themselves in very dark, unbearable surroundings.

It is just like a man in this world, who wakes up from his dream to find himself in a different situation of his daily life.

It depends on what kind of life he was leading. For example, if a man of great responsibility, he might dream a very beautiful dream or not. But when he wakes up, he is faced with all kinds of responsibilities and all kinds of questions to solve. A businessman, when he wakes up, he finds himself confronted with a lot of investment problems, bank accounts, new currency rates, the world economic crisis, and things like that. A patient in the hospital, when he wakes up, he finds himself in his pain again, with all his tubes surrounding his nose, and needles in his arms and another needle here, or maybe bound in bed. Maybe he has recovered and he is enjoying better health -- a better view now, or he is going to be discharged from hospital that day.

So each one of us will wake up one day from our dream which is approximately about a hundred years. It's a long dream. Some have a shorter dream -- good luck. Lucky people! We all know that we will wake up one day, but then we are not ready, we are not prepared for the waking-up stage. That is why we are perplexed and fearful. If we know how to prepare for the next day of our lives then the transition is not so painful. It is just like a man who lives a very peaceful life, who does his duty, and who has love, he would wake up everyday facing a nice atmosphere, more or less nice. It depends on how he has arranged his life.

We do not die after we leave this world. There is nothing to fear if we have led a very, very ordinary and normal life. But there is some fearsome illusion awaiting us if we have neglected the commandments of God.

It is for the play of the world that regulations are made. It's for life to go on in a multicolored manner that commandments are installed. It is not for punishment actually. But if we do not abide by these laws, then some kind of correctional service is necessary. It is not eternal. Please do not have this negative picture in your mind that everyone who is disobedient to the laws will be punished eternally.

Hell Is Just A State Of Mind

Hell is limited. No one can be a permanent resident there because God did not intend to make the world into a permanent hell or make permanent such an ugly thing. Therefore, whatever we do we will have to compensate for it, but for a short while only. But even then, it is very painful for us to suffer for just a short while; because when we suffer, time lasts forever. Takes a long, long time to overcome this period of suffering.

Just like when we are in this world, when we sleep and we're happy, the time passes so fast. We cannot get up in the morning because we think it's still time to sleep. When we're happy with a beloved one or with friends, time seems to be too short. Now when we are in trouble; when we have to wait for someone; when we have anxiety; when we have pain, bodily or mentally, time seems never ending. The same situation happens in so-called hell.

Hell is just another state of mind when we are too unhappy, too much suffering, mentally or bodily; it's just like when we are sick or unhappy in this world. It is multiplied much more; and that's what we call hell the state of mental disturbance, of pressure, of invisible suffering.

We have many ways to avoid suffering in this world. If we are bored and feel unhappy, then we go out, have a drink, or maybe dance, go to see movies, go to see theater. Other people would go to find meditation, go into their "corner" and find their own happiness inside -- their within-world, the Kingdom of God within. I do not despise people who take drugs, take alcohol, or use various so-called lowly or cheap substitutes to gain happiness, to forget the sorrow of life. I just think they use the wrong way. That's all. And it's a pity! If they knew the other ways, if they had tasted the different way of happiness, they would have turned faster to the other end; and they would be the fastest for enlightenment. They would be the ones who would run the fastest to any goal, to any means that would offer them happiness. These people are victims of very bad information, or have been misinformed. Therefore, it is our duty -- those who are so-called still awakened and have some intelligence, to help instead of just accuse; because we do not know their longing for Truth. We do not know inside their hearts that there is a great yearning for happiness. What is happiness and love if it's not God? They yearn for God, they are misinformed, they turn to the other end, and they use the wrong things.

These people are also very near the renunciation stage, near monkhood; because they also renounce life; they want to find their own imaginary happiness; they reject this kind of material, transitory, ephemeral life. Other people would just be happy with a big steak, a bottle of whiskey or whatever small things. Go to work everyday, take care of our life, and take care of our wife, husband, children, etcetera. But these people, they are so unhappy with this kind of ordinary life. They cannot take it. They don't want this offer. It's not good enough for them. That means they are very noble. It's not that bad. It's just that they don't have the means to find a way to get out. They are probably more fed up with life than any monk and nun. (Master laughs.) They probably are the most renunciate people. Just they don't know how to have the real thing, how to achieve the real happiness. We find many ways to gain our so-called enlightenment, nirvana or happiness. The better way, of course, is through effort, through enlightenment, through a proper channel to God; and not through material substitutes like drugs, alcohol or other kinds of unnatural ways.

Find Your Own Treasure Inside

We would like to present to you and any other people who are thirsty for happiness, this way of meditation which is very safe, which doesn't demand much effort, doesn't demand a change of life, doesn't demand any cost, and doesn't demand anything that you could not offer. In fact, it doesn't demand anything at all; except that you must look inside and find your own treasure, find the real lasting happiness. Even the richest man in the world, or even the king of the whole world would not be happy without enlightenment. No one has ever been truly happy without enlightenment.

The one who is enlightened may seem to be like any of the others; may seem to have the same quality, the same character; might seem to be angry sometimes. But his anger is no longer real, no longer with hatred, no longer deep-rooted. It fades just like the clouds. Comes and goes so fast without any deep emotion. And it is very, very relaxing when you can be angry like that. His anger is just like the sea waves, doesn't affect the sea at all. The waves come from the sea but they aren't the sea. It is but it isn't. It's just caused by wind or by the rotation of the Earth. It's unreal, even though it's there.

Now ordinary people without enlightenment, when they are angry their anger shakes the whole foundation of their being and uproots most of their intelligence at that moment only. I wouldn't say forever, of course. And sometimes drives them into fanaticism or uncontrollable fits of emotion which hurts their mental, psychic, emotional and physical body. But the enlightened person, even when he's angry, the anger is just on the surface. It doesn't hurt that much. Also the force of anger would not hurt the opposition, because it is not supported with hatred and with real emotion. Sometimes the enlightened person could be angry outside but laughing inside. Just like you are acting on the stage, you know what your role is even though you act very real for the purpose of the audience -- to make them happy or to make them sad. Just to amuse them.

Therefore, there is a difference between enlightenment and not enlightened even though both persons with enlightenment or non-enlightenment look exactly the same in some ways. If we are also enlightened, we can sense that that person is not the same. We can sense only, but we cannot tell because they both have the same nose in the middle, eyes on both sides and ears over here. They might eat, talk, sleep, and do various duties like us. But inside they are completely free.

Liberation Is The Ultimate Freedom

Now we always talk about freedom. There are different kinds of freedom -- freedom from outward movement and freedom inward. Freedom inside is the most profound, and nothing can shake it. Freedom outside can change all the time, with the different regimes, with the different environment or with different physical ability. But the freedom inside never can change. Once we have it, we will always have it. We just have more and more and more each day only. And we discover endless possibilities to express our freedom. Whereas the freedom outside is very limited and it makes even more responsibilities, often more responsibilities than not.

There is a film about Jesus. I don't remember what is the name, but it's a story about a man who looks for a master for many years. He saved all his treasure, bought three different precious stones, and saved it all his time until he met a master. Then he offered. That was all his treasure. Now finally he met Jesus, and he was supposed to offer it to Jesus; but it was too late. Then something else happened in between. He never met a master. He always chased Jesus from one place to another and always something happened. He could never be face to face with the great master. He had a slave, or so-called work-mate for himself. That man worked for him for a very long time. One day the man demanded freedom from the master. He said, "I have followed you everywhere and you don't even pay me" or something like that. "I want to be free. I don't want to work for you any more. You are no longer my master, Okay?"

So that person who was supposed to be looking for a master said, "Okay, you go. You want to, you go."

The man left, went outside, and enjoyed his freedom. Then he thought, "I don't know after all if I really want my freedom. It's terrible to have no master." He had to take care of everything himself now, and he was not used to it.

Everyone says being in prison is no good. You are not free. You cannot move about. You have to sleep on time, wake up on time, and do everything under dictatorship. But some people like to be in prison. "What job to look for? What work to do? Who takes care of the kids education? Who buys the wife jewelry?" And things like that. They just wake up when they are told to wake up, and they go to sleep when they are told to sleep. They do what they are told to do and they feel fantastically free. Maybe they are enlightened -- these people.

When the people are freed from prison, if they go outside, they have to look for a job which is not always easy, especially if you have a record from prison. It's difficult to find a good job. You can find any job but not so good. And you have to take on all kinds of responsibilities with taxes, bills, filling in all the forms, and complications.

Many people say that nuns and monks are those who are renunciates, but I think you are the ones who are renunciates. You renounce the simplicity, the happiness of leading a simple life, the happiness of a care-free life, the happiness of dedication to God. You renounce all these in order to take care of these complications: taxes forms, electric bills and what next, children.

Maybe you derive some "happiness" from taking care of children. It's not that complicated, but I mean those things which are concerned with children are complicated. You have to take care of them. When they are sick, you cannot sleep. When they are not good in school, you don't feel well. And when they grow up: who is the girl friend? Who is the boy friend? Who are they with? Are they with drugs or with whatever? Endless trouble, endless anxiety. Just like you have two or three bombs in your house exploding every minute.

I think you are the great renunciates. I really admire your courage, your patience, perseverance and true dedication to complications. (Master and audience laugh.) I don't know, between us, who is better than whom. Sometimes I think that, if you put me back to that life to take care of all these, I probably couldn't do it. It's too complicated for me. With waking up every five o'clock in the morning when the bed is the warmest and you are in the most deep, deep sleep. You have to wake up eyes half closed, drink coffee through the nose. You cannot see properly, and eat some dry bread. Try to preserve the sleeping atmosphere but having to wake up at the same time. Sometimes you feel the way into the bathroom. And everyday like this. How do you do it? (Audience laughs.)

If I wake up, I have to only crawl to my meditation hall. It's not very far. Well, I have my work too, but I don't think my work is that complicated. It is in the other way, in the other sense, but it's not as complicated as your life. And you can go through that happily, or apparently happily. I don't know how you do it. Therefore, this life is each one for himself. But anyhow in case you are not satisfied with this, and you want to have a simple life or more strength internally, eternally, and more understanding of some very delicate details of life in the universe, then we must find an enlightening way to go.

If we are satisfied with life as it is, and wake up from the dream after a hundred years or sixty years, then it's okay. But anyhow, I think it would be nicer if we wake up from our dream finding a pleasant surrounding, a pleasant situation awaiting us. It would be better than to wake up from our dream and find the same situation again or worse. Everyone goes to sleep at night, hoping consciously or unconsciously of a better tomorrow with problems solved, business better, children nicer and marriage works out better. But we wake up often after a long night's sleep, finding the same problem, finding the same situation or worse circumstances.

It is the same with our life. Should we wake up after a life-long dream and find out we are still in the same world but in worse circumstances, then it is very very tiring, very painful. And I don't think we could endure it. That's why you may have heard of many stories of people who die and then come back and make a lot of trouble for their relatives. Because they are not happy where they are. And worse still, they don't have a body to enjoy the enjoyable side of life.

We, the human beings, suffer sometimes, but we can enjoy sometimes. And then when we enjoy, we forget the suffering, at least temporarily. But those who leave the body without preparation, without a guide and without any virtues, merit to accompany them -- that means if they live a very ordinary life without doing any good things, without turning their face towards God, once or at least sometimes in their lifetime -- then after they leave their bodies it is difficult for them to find a chance to be in happy surroundings.

No Such Thing As Death

So now since we still have the body and we do not suffer that much, we could have some happiness, some choices, some free will, we should just prepare for the other world; because I do not believe that most of the people think that after death there is nothing. People are more intelligent now in this era to understand better. And also we have much, much more information nowadays to prove this belief that our life is eternal. Doesn't matter what happens after death, before death or before birth, our life is a continuous stream of consciousness and we never die. We might forsake one body; one kind of vestment after the other, but we never die. Or else if we die, how can we be born? If there isn't life before our birth, then where did we come from? If there isn't life after death, then where did we come from before our birth?

We couldn't just spring out of nothing. We learn from science that nothing comes from nothing. So why should we come from nothing and go back to nothing? So at this age of scientific great development, we should believe even more in life eternal. I have enough proof within myself, within my practice to understand this. I would like to inform you or confirm your belief that this is true, and that according to my opinion and also the opinion of other great masters of the past that we should prepare for our great awakening which takes place after we leave the physical body. We awaken to find that we don't die, but then what do we do with it. How do we orient our life after we have this so-called life? That is the trouble that we must take into consideration before it's too late.

Question & Answer Session After The Lecture

Q: How can we still live and feed this body while we take care of our spiritual body?

M: It's not as difficult as you think. You see, for example, this fellow initiate, she is still eating and she is still working. She is a teacher. She even does two jobs, teaching at night and learning in the day time. Then still takes care of her spiritual attainment when she has time. We have to prepare our schedule. Most of our time is lost in idle gossip, in too much long telephone chattering, too much nonsense advertisements in the newspaper, or watching TV when we don't want to watch it. Many times you switch on the TV, and you don't even want to watch it but because it's on, you leave it and just watch.

When we have a definite purpose and definite schedule, we share the time. Like time to go to school, time to go to work and time for meditation. And in the time of meditation, you don't gossip, you don't talk, you don't answer telephones, etcetera. You put it off for the next moment. Many people won't die without talking to us. (Audience laughs.) We just think we are so important. First, we take care of our intelligence -- means open up more of our great reservoir of wisdom. Then we can take care of people even better. We learn faster. We work more efficiently. We contribute more to the world. Not that we just lean on the spiritual side and forget the world.

I'm still working. You don't know? I sing. I lecture. I do painting. I sell them to get the money for lectures and that. (Master laughs.) I work very hard. It's very easy to do it. Very easy. If I can do it, you can.

Q: So sometimes we need to be selfish, to be self-fulfilling, to take time out for ourselves, to be selfish for ourselves?

M: It's not selfish for example if you take time to eat because after a whole day working for the society you are already tired and hungry. You need to fill in some energy. It's not selfish; it's for this body alone, so ephemeral and short-lived. We have to work so hard, invent so many things, and cook so many meals to feed it. How much more must we take time to feed our spiritual body or aspect. It's not selfish, it is the right thing to do. We're used to doing things in the hard way; in the wrong way. And now when we get the correct way, we think it's selfish. It's not true.

Jesus Was A Man, Christ Is A Power

Q: Master, how about God's word -- the Bible. It says in one of the scriptures that salvation is a gift from God that we don't earn it through good works. Jesus Christ died for our sins and gives us eternal life by accepting Him as Lord and savior. Please explain.

M: Yes, salvation is a gift from God. We cannot earn it through charity, through a virtuous life. But these things help. Help our peaceful feeling. If we do some good things, we are virtuous, we feel more balanced, more virtuous, and when we try to find God, there are not many obstacles -- no guilty feelings to stop us, to make us feel uneasy. So they help. But we don't earn it through a virtuous life and through charitable deeds. That is correct. Jesus died to save our sins, that is also correct.

When Jesus was alive, He was a great master. He emphasized the Kingdom of God is only through Him. Means through a living master. He didn't say that He would always be eternally the master. He said: "As long as I am in the world I am the light of the world." And after, He said "Don't grieve for me because I will send comforters to you." That means there will be another master who will come.

The spirit is eternal. How can Jesus die? He will live again and again and again through us, through all the enlightened beings. We must make ourselves become like Jesus. Then we can manifest His salvation, we can prove His salvation. Otherwise, if we live our daily lives just very ignorantly, low level, low thinking, how can we prove that Jesus has saved us? Many people call themselves Christians but fight with each other. And so much bloodshed through Christianity or through the so-called fanatics. They are not true Christians. Jesus could not save them. They don't prove Jesus' grace through their actions.

If we want to understand that Jesus really saved us, we must be in the saintly level. Otherwise, we are just discussing, talking. We don't know anything about Jesus. How can we really understand Him? How can we really appreciate Him?

Jesus is a man but Christ is a power. Now, that power can be transmitted anytime, anyplace, through anyone who is qualified. It's like electricity going through any wire, if that wire is okay, in order, good condition and if there is a plug. Now I just offer you a way to plug in with Jesus Christ -- with Christ-power, and then you understand what Christ is, and you really appreciate Him. Otherwise, I think we just talk about Jesus Christ; but we do not understand and we do not get any salvation from Him.

Jesus died for mankind. It was His time; because whenever a living master is on Earth, the master takes on some of the karma of the people, especially those who believe in the master and especially those who are disciples of the master. And that karma has to be worked out. Therefore, the master suffers for the disciples and for mankind at large in his lifetime, and it manifests through his body. Therefore, he might be sick, he might be ill, he might be tortured, he might be nailed on the cross, he might be slandered, he might be persecuted. Any master has to go through this kind of thing. You see it yourself. Even Buddha, Mohammed, Christ and many other masters in the East and West, no one has ever lived their life peacefully without persecution. That is what is meant by a master sacrificing for mankind. But only as long as he has the body to suffer the karma, because karma in this world is physical. If you want to save the people from the physical karma, you need a physical body.

Therefore, a master has to manifest a physical body to take on all this trouble and suffering and work it all out. Because the master is a great reservoir of grace and blessing, therefore his body can take on anything at all. But doesn't mean he doesn't suffer. Therefore, Jesus suffered for mankind -- it's correct. But as long as He is in this world only. After Him, someone else has to suffer. Some other master has to come and take care of the next generation. Otherwise, how do we explain the suffering continuing in this world? If Jesus had saved all mankind, why do they still live in ignorance? Why do they still kill each other, even the Christians? If you say to me other people are ignorant, don't know the name of Christ, do not live the Christian way; therefore they suffer, therefore they fight each other, therefore they kill each other, therefore they are bad. I accept. Maybe so. But the Christians, what do you say? They know about Christ. They know the doctrine. They go to the church. There are even some in the high ranks of the church. Why do they do these things, if Jesus has saved them? He can only when He is here. Now He is gone to the other world, and is doing other work. Other masters come here to work.

Q: Master, what is the Quan Yin Method?

M: Quan Yin Method. "Quan" means observing. And "Yin" means the sound. The sound means the "Word" in the Bible. You know, In the beginning was the Word, the vibration, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Everything was made by it. Nothing that was made was not made by this. In the old times they called vibration "word." Oh, you must know words vibrate. So when you get in touch with this vibration which was with God and which is God, then we are in touch with God, we truly understand what is God-like, and we are one with God again. Then we do things from God dictation and not from our own ego; and we will not do wrong any more. Even if we want to do wrong, it would be difficult. Just like now, if you want to do right, it is difficult.

Do Only God's Will

Q: Some say that the truly enlightened ones are of no mind, that they do not act in this world; they are only observers, they make no choices; they only flow like the river. How does anyone live in this world without acting, without choosing? It's also said by some, that to act upsets the balance of nature and nature will compensate by creating opposites. Is this true?

M: You have to be enlightened first, then you know what it is. Otherwise, how can I tell you when you are not there. I'll try.

To act without acting doesn't mean you are lifeless, soulless, mindless or anything like that. You just do things very naturally. When you are enlightened, you don't do things. You don't have choices anymore. You are one with God. You do only God's will, and you know exactly it is like that. Even though outside, outwardly looks like you are doing the same thing as others, but it is not so. Everything is dictated by God. You just feel no responsibility. But you do always the right thing, never wrong.

Now we cannot say that everyone else who acts irresponsibly is acting out the will of God. It is not true. They don't know what the will of God is. After enlightenment we know what is the universal plan and we act accordingly. Before enlightenment, we just accept everything; try to force our will into the plan of nature.

Now for example on the stage, a good actor and actress knows their roles, has memorized their script. They say, do, and act according to the whole setup of the drama and to the dictates of the director of the drama. But some who are lousy, who do not like to know it, or who like to earn money only or just to be on the stage, don't do their work, don't try to know their role properly, do not try to know the drama motive and instruction, and do not like to follow the plan of the director. Then he does wrong on the stage, and upsets the whole thing. That is the difference between a good actor and a lousy one. He doesn't even memorize his script. When he comes on the stage, he just says what he should not say. And what he should say, he doesn't say. Or instead of just slapping the opponent just a little bit like this, he really slaps very hard and makes him faint on the stage. So the director has to stop the whole thing and do it again. It's troublesome. He has to interfere.

Q: Master, would You explain how to meditate -- the time, how often and what technique to be successful?

M: There are many techniques for pacifying our mind, for being more intelligent, or being more efficient in our work. You might choose any technique that you like. But we offer what in my belief is the one that has direct contact with God, if you want to know yourself.

God means our own nature, our own noble quality, our own highest wisdom. That is why it is said that the Kingdom of God is within you or the Buddha is within each of us. Otherwise, He would say the Buddha is in nirvana or God is in heaven, or things like that.

Now when we want to find God, or find our true noble quality, noble position, then we have to follow the Quan Yin Method. The Quan Yin Method means we are in contact with the vibration, the original power of the universe, God.

Q: If animals can hunt for food, why can't people? In nature, hunting is a normal pattern of life. Is not humanity an intrinsic part of nature?

M: Then call yourself an animal if you want! If animals hunt for food, and you hunt for food, then we are the same. That is to degrade ourselves. If you want to you can. Who stops you? But if we want to be more noble, to call ourselves a human, we should try to understand what a human should do and how a human should live his life to make an example for our younger brothers and sisters. If we live the same life as our younger brothers and sisters which are animals, then we are not worthy to be in God's creation because God says in the first chapter of the Old Testament that men should lead animals. We should be in the superior position to all the animals. Now if we want to lower ourselves and be like animals, then it's okay. It's freedom of choice. But whether it is a good choice or not, you should ask yourself. I do believe that humans should be superior to other beings, should lead a noble life to make an example; because these animals will evolve and become human next. If they see our bad examples, how can they become better? We should be their teacher.

Noble Qualities Come From The Kingdom Of God

Q: We keep five precepts and practice ten virtues, but we don't meditate. After death, can we get liberation or not?

M: We cannot be liberated by keeping the precepts or doing virtuous deeds alone. We can only be liberated when we know that we are liberated. Then we know our nature is liberation. Then we truly know that we are eternal. That is when we are liberated. We cannot be liberated when we are still blindly doing virtuous deeds. That means we still know there are things to be done, there are things to do to achieve liberation. We are still ignorant. We do not know our real nature is liberation. You can keep as many as 500 precepts or do 10,000 virtuous deeds, not only ten or five, but you still cannot get liberation. It is like cooking sand and hoping it will become rice.

Q: The last goal of meditation is liberation. Please, Master, let me know if a liberated soul is really liberated from greed, anger and lust, etcetera.

M: Yes, I already said the enlightened person when he is angry, it's not real anger. He is not deeply shaken. Or the person who the anger is directed towards is not affected with hatred, with the negative atmosphere. The enlightened persons are never angry for selfish purposes. He's never angry because you don't give him enough money, because you run away from him, or his wife runs away to another man or vice versa and he tries to chase her back and finds other ways to harm that person -- the rival. The enlightened person may appear to be angry, but for different purposes.

Sometimes you have to use so-called aggressive energy to break through it in order to work and to advance in your mission. He's not angry because no one feeds him, no one gives him money, or no one loves him. You cannot get away from anger. You must use it. There is a difference between the real anger and the one who is enlightened who uses anger as a weapon.

It's just like a knife in the hand of the surgeon. It's different than the knife of a murderer. It's still the same -- it hurts, it bleeds, but it heals. The surgeon knows how much to cut, where and how long. But the murderer, he just blindly kills people out of hatred or for selfish interests.

Anger, greed, lust and all the so-called negative qualities all came from nirvana; all came from the Kingdom of God. They are all noble qualities. Why are we greedy for the things of this world; because we came from the glorious Kingdom of God. We are used to glory, we are used to richness, we are used to the things that we don't need to work for. That's why we are mostly lazy -- don't like to work. We just want money, we just want diamonds. (Audience laughs.) We must know in this world, it's different. We use this greed to push ourselves through this world in order to achieve the precious stone which is inside us, the wish fulfiling gem.

Greed is not bad. Anger is not negative. Lust is okay. Just we have to use them in the right way. Use it as a tool to heal, not to kill. Then everything is okay. Nothing is negative. It's our misconception that makes things negative. (Applause)

Q: Is it contrary to nature to work by healing others and to alleviate suffering. Should one simply accept the suffering of others, such as the refugees, and not take part?

M: Healing by using spiritual force is unnatural. We mess about with people's auras, with people's chakras, with people's spiritual, magnetic fields. We mess them up, and they are difficult to correct later. Also mess up the psychic nature of people. But if we try to help those who are in need and who call on us for help, then it's not unnatural. It's like a doctor who uses physical means like needles, knives, tubes and medicine to heal a person. It's not unnatural and the doctor will not incur any karma through that. But if we mess about with people's spiritual magnetic field, then the karma is heavy.

If you relieve the famine or if you help the refugees, that is okay, because in the Bible it also says: Be kind to strangers. Do not oppress the strangers, for we are also the strangers in the land of Egypt. Means we are strangers on this Earth too. And the refugee situation may be ours soon also. We are at war now. You could be refugees also. So we should help others who are in need, that God might help us.

Enlightenment Is A Gift From God

Q: The Buddha reached enlightenment being Buddha after many, many lives of good living. How can the ordinary people, use the short cut to achieve enlightenment or heaven in this life?

M: No, it isn't. How do you know you have not been good in many lifetimes? Can you prove it to me that you have been very bad? Can you prove it to me that Buddha has been good in many lifetimes? He only told you and you are only using hearsay. You don't know if it's true, and you don't know if you have been good or bad. So why should we be so negative. We must believe our worth, because God said that everyone is made after the image of God and we are exactly like God. So why should we feel that we are inferior?

The Buddha, whether He was very good and noble in many lifetimes, that I don't know. But I know He didn't do anything during His lifetime, except after enlightenment. He was born in a palace and He was looked after so exceedingly well. Then He was married and He had five hundred wives apart from the main one; He had many beautiful girls and dancers who looked after Him and who danced for Him everyday, every night. And He had four palaces for four seasons. He spent all the taxpayers' money in His country for thirty years. Now you tell me what kind of good things He did that He was entitled to enlightenment. It is already said that enlightenment is a gift from God. It's not achieved through virtues or charitable deeds.

We can all get enlightenment. We can all become Buddha, or at least become liberated. Otherwise why would God send Jesus, Buddha or Mohammed to us, if we are so hopeless? If only the virtuous people can achieve enlightenment then I don't really know who is virtuous because there is a saying that "every saint has a past, every sinner has a future." We are not that sinful as we think. Sin is also an illusion. After you understand this -- no sin, no virtue. But you have to work hard to understand this and then you are free. The Quan Yin Method offers you this free way to understand yourself immediately -- that you are originally noble. After that, maybe you'll be able to see into your past life and you can tell me whether you have been doing good or bad.

Q: You were just saying the enlightened one can only act from the divine will. How can the enlightened one be held responsible for his or her behavior or can he/she act in whatever way he is guided? How can we know who is enlightened? Can we trust them?

M: You can't. You don't. You don't know who is enlightened. You can't trust anyone, except yourself. If you cannot trust people, then pray and look into yourself. See if your motive is sincere, if you are pure. If you truly want enlightenment then you will meet a right master. All depends on you, not on the whatever master -- if you are pure. Like attracts like.

If anyone who happens to stumble onto a lousy master or bad master, that's their own fault. They should check their own behavior, their own motive, their own purity, their own sincerity. Then pray again. God will guide them to another master. There's always the law of supply and demand. "Ask and it shall be given. Knock and it shall be opened."

Q: Why do we not remember the previous lives and deaths?

M: Because it's too much for us to cope with, too much burden. We have enough to deal with today, with taxes, with wars, with children and with our own immediate problems and karma. Should you know that you have been such and such or very bad, very good or very noble in the last life, you would be more confused; and you could not focus on the task at hand in this life. Therefore God, or the natural law, draws a curtain. You'll know it when it's necessary. You'll know it in time. And in meditation, sometimes you know it too, if it should be necessary for your progress. You won't know also, if it is not necessary.

Jesus also said: Do not worry about tomorrow, it's enough that we take care today. If we don't want to know about tomorrow which affects us, which is important to us, how much less should we know about the past which is already gone.

Q: What is the form of Buddha's wisdom? Is it revealed in logic, intuition or something beyond these?

M: Beyond all these things. Whatever we can think of is not yet Buddha wisdom. Buddha wisdom we can only know it when we reach it. We cannot express it, but we know so definitely like black and white when the situation arrives. I mean you don't go around all day and carry your Buddha wisdom with you. You just live in it, live with it, and you are just it.

Q: Can we reduce our karma by praying?

M: Yes, we can if we are sincere enough, because a very sincere and deep prayer is a kind of meditation. We are in a meditative mood. Therefore, it reaches the deepest recesses of our grace store, our merit, our blessing store; and it affects, it cleanses. Only if we are truly sincere and deeply, longing for forgiveness, then it helps.

Gracing The Earth To Save Sentient Beings

In July of this year, the central and southern provinces of mainland China were tormented by heavy rainfall. Consequently, great floods occurred in many places, and brought about heavy property losses to the people. Supreme Master Ching Hai immediately directed Her fellow practitioners to form relief groups, raise donations, collect materials, investigate the situation in the affected areas, and organize the relief operations. Everyone worked silently following the guideline of benefiting sentient beings without leaving any traces. They braved all kinds of risks, ignored continuous exhaustion, travelled from one affected area to another, delivering Master's love to the hearts of the victims. Upon receiving the relief materials, all the victims cheered "Supreme Master Ching Hai! Supreme Master Ching Hai!".

"She is a Master with whom you cannot find any faults," was a statement made by Mr. Chang from Tientsin, China. Although he has never seen Master personally, he has come to know himself very well through the reading of Master's Buddhist books. He further emphasized that no ordinary human in the universe could possibly find any fault in Master.

Prize pig runs 2 miles to save dying farmer

Cops say Sten, 46, was driving his stud pig to a friend's farm when he lost control of his truck and hit a tree, knocking himself senseless. But the pig saved the day by running home, grabbing Sten's wife Annemarie by her skirt and tugging of her until she followed him back to the scene of the accident.

"That pig was making so much noise and was so insistent that I follow him that I went along," the grateful lady recalled. "Sten is recovering now, but the doctor said if I hadn't gotten him to the hospital when I did, he'd have been dead for sure."

Former Mayor Of Honolulu Pays A Visit To Supreme Master Ching Hai

The former Mayor of Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A., Mr. Frank F. Fasi and his wife arrived at Chiang Kaishek Airport in Taoyuan this evening (23rd Nov.). Outside the airport, several thousand disciples of Supreme Master Ching Hai came to greet them, bringing with them a cordial and warm atmosphere. One of the responsible persons of the group said, "We hope our Formosan style of welcome can make this patriarch from the heartwarming island of Hawaii feel totally at home."

Despite his busy schedule, Mr. Fasi has especially found time to make this friendly cultural visit, for the particular purpose of seeking from Supreme Master Ching Hai, a "world spiritual leader," the method of spiritual practice which would elevate his spiritual level and that of the American people.

Mr Fasi is the founder of the Best Party. During his term as Mayor, he, on behalf of the Hawaiian Government, presented Supreme Master Ching Hai with an honorary citizenship and the World Peace Award. In his extremely high respect for Supreme Master Ching Hai, he has said, "I know Supreme Master Ching Hai is a real saint. She contributes selflessly and indiscriminately to world peace and mankind."

Appreciation Letters

After the bomb explosion incident in Oklahoma, U.S.A., Supreme Master Ching Hai immediately instructed the American fellow initiates to form a relief group, and to proceed to the scene rendering emergency aid. She also sent a message to fellow initiates throughout the world, asking them to pray for the victims together. As directed by Master, our Headquarters and Centers had in total remitted over US$100,000 to the relief fund, for which State Governor of Oklahoma, Mr. Frank Keating, had sent a letter of appreciation. Korea Expresses Gratitude To Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association For Their Aid Rendered To The Flood Victims

Requested by the Korean Flood Disaster Reconstruction Committee, the Korean Embassy in Cambodia sent a letter of appreciation to Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association for their US$200,000 donation. The money will be used to help rebuild the area affected by the flood in August in Korea.

Dear venerated Supreme Master Ching Hai,

My name is Chen Yu Min, owner of fishing boat BD-380185. On behalf of my ten brothers, I sincerely thank Supreme Master Ching Hai for mercifully saving us while we were in distress.

The Secret Way To Quit Smoking

"I remember you used to have ashtrays everywhere in your house. Why have they disappeared?" asked a friend holding onto a cigarette butt, not able to find a place to dispose of it.

"Oh, I am sorry! Lin has given up smoking, so we have put away all the ashtrays!"

I remember the days when we were just married. I asked Lin to quit smoking for health reasons. Unexpectedly, he refused in a righteous and stern manner: "This is my only hobby in life. What is the point of living if this has to be given up too?" Since I could not convince him, I just dropped the subject from then on.

Several years later, our children had grown up sufficiently to realize how harmful nicotine is to our body and mind. For the sake of their father's health, and to fight for an unpoluted surrounding for themselves, they began to put up signs like "We refuse to be second-hand smokers" in the house. However, my husband was not moved at all.

Of course the quitting process included painful struggles against the addiction and the habit practiced over many decades. However, all these were overcome safely and smoothly under the blessing and protection of Master. It seems incredible that a stubborn man like Lin could voluntarily surrender completely, but this is absolutely true.

Like Dissolves into Like

When I had selfish thoughts, or failed to keep the precepts clearly, thus causing my actions, speech and thoughts to be impure, I felt uneasy and alienated around Master and fellow practitioners; and even when Master passed right in front of me She would not look at me.

When I opened my mind and prayed for humanity, I would feel peaceful, blissful and satisfied; and Master would naturally give me several more loving, compassionate glances as She walked around the crowd to bless everyone.

Once during a spring seven-day retreat, I was transporting food from the kitchen. When Master was giving discourses, we were on the one hand taking care of the dining tables, and on the other hand praying that Master would bless the food so that fellow practitioners could obtain vigor and energy after eating, thus enabling their souls to soar heavenward.

Before the end of the Ching Hai Day seven-day retreat, I prayed that God's love would help the most needy sentient beings in the whole universe, through the tool of my physical body. As a result, Master let me experience God's blessing power; my body was filled with white light, continuously emanating into the void until the vast sky overflowed with radiance, and my whole outer body was also emitting light. I thus enjoyed a taste of being a Buddha of great light, and further verified the theory that like dissolves into like.

The Story Of Outer Planets

Unless they put them in front of a radar, a kind of apparatus to kind of x-ray, then they will see the mechanical device inside and know that is a robot, not a person. If they see lungs and heart, etc., they know "Oh, no, no, this is a people." Sometimes these kinds of robots, they have become so used to humans' habits and the way of life, that they become just exactly like humans. Their hair just naturally grows, and nails and everything; just like humans, just like the beings in that planet. They're also human.

There are two different categories of beings. One is spiritual and one is human. Human beings are those like us, having physical bodies like us. The spiritual beings are those who live also on other planets, but we can not call them humans because they don't have a body like us. Even though they're also beings but they are higher. They're spiritual beings or some are astral beings. Spiritual beings are those in the higher level. Astral beings are in the lower level.

So now these human beings created other robots, just look liked themselves. Then they used them. Many of them, preferred to talk to robots, to live with robots than to live with their own beings, their own fellow men. So much that the society of that planet had become a kind of disorder, and the robots had made a kind of revolution; they went on strike. They wanted more rights, (audience laughs) more freedom and above all, they wanted emotions. (Audience laughs.) They said, "Look! We like you. Give us emotions. We want emotions." But emotions were what they could not create yet.

So they tried. They were going to make a kind of revolution and they wanted to cause trouble for these beings on that planet. So much that when they were so scared, they had to trick them. They gathered them altogether in a temple, and then screened them all out to see who had a mechanical device inside. They tricked them. "You just stand around. We'll give you emotions in a minute." (Master and audience laugh.) Then they took them apart, screwed them apart, put all the apparatus apart, so no more robots. Otherwise the planet would have become crowded. They had created so many robots that the population of people was even less than the robots themselves, because they preferred.

They screwed them all apart. Because they were put together by screws and things like that, they could take them apart. So no more. But then they missed a lot of service from the robots also, because in that society there were no slaves, no subservients, except machines and robots. They had become so mechanized that the society had also become devoid of feelings, of naturalness, before they turned around and changed, on time. Otherwise, probably the planet would be no more. Probably the robots would have killed all the people and ruled the planet. And we would have a new planet, robot planet.

Then if our astronauts succeeded in going up to that planet, shook hands with these robots, and brought them down here, what do you think? We would not know because we wouldn't have the sensitive apparatus in order to screen them. I think the screening system of the United Nations, used to screen the Au Lac refugees, would not be good enough, (Master and audience laugh) to screen these robots. Then they would be mixed with us, and we would mistaken them for human beings or extraterrestrials.

Many of the so-called extraterrestrials that we have caught or seen from the UFOs are not human. They are only electronic people. Look like humans, but they are not. They were just sent down to operate the UFOs and to get some information for the beings over there. Many of them are scared to come here. They send the robots. If the robots get killed, no problem. (Master laughs.) They'll make new ones. But the real beings seldom come down. They do come sometimes but not all of them. Those that look very funny and inhuman looking, these are robots, not truly the beings from other planets. Soon we will know, when they do come. Some of them look beautiful, more beautiful than us, very intelligent, very bright.

Extraterrestrials Are Our Good Neighbors

They described it in the old times as a very great steel horse glowing with light and fire. (Audience laughs.) And whenever it landed, it made a hole, a very big circle (Master laughs) on the earth, which has become a very round lake; or just a very wide circle, without anything.

And what kind of horse was that, that descended (audience laughs) from the sky, glowing with light? Then later the horse and the boy went up into the sky and disappeared. After the battle was won and the boy defeated the enemy, he left, together with the horse. (Master and audience laugh.) A strange horse.

So, evidently some of the aliens have descended upon our Earth planet many thousands or some hundreds of thousands or millions of years ago, and have interacted with our Earth planet people. In every country we have evidence of this. It's just that we didn't know what it was and we thought it was a fairy tale. But after we consider more about the details, and after we have become enlightened, we would be able to discern that these things are not only stories, they are true happenings.

Master Stopped The Universal Law Of Non-Intervention

Suddenly, from just over the mountains we saw a gigantic multi-colored spaceship coming toward us and around it were flying dozens of smaller diamond shaped ships. They were all traveling at incredible speed and the sight of it was so amazing that a sudden hush went over the crowd as everyone gasped in excitement. Within a few seconds the great ship was already hovering over us. So large was it that it almost shadowed all of us at once. No one moved or even breathed, because as it hovered there the most amazing feeling of love, joy, euphoria and peace that swept over us all. It was as if everything we needed to know, we knew within an instant; like every fear we ever had had suddenly became folly.

They were communicating to us all at once without saying a word and we all knew instinctively that everything was going to be all right. It is truly indescribable to explain the joy that each of us felt individually and together at that moment. The ship then glided over and landed next to Master's trailer. Everyone at once cheered with joy and love in our hearts and tears in our eyes. And then I awoke.

I carried this joy into my life that day and everyday for weeks later. It was one of the most ecstatic experiences of my life and still is to this day. I started paying attention to everything Master had ever said about UFOs and the future of our planet.

Not long afterwards, I read a book called "You Are Becoming a Galactic Human" which describes the near future and our eventual active communication with aliens. In the book, it mentions that in November of 1992 the "universal law of non-intervention" was stopped, meaning that the planetary federation was not permitted to communicate actively with Earth until that time. It also mentioned that between 1993 and 1997, the transition of consciousness on Earth would be made so that mass landings of aliens could finally take place.

I remembered a talk Master gave at a group meditation in Taipei. She had scolded some aliens that had wanted help to save their brothers who had been captured by the US government. She said that since they had the power to be invisible, why didn't they save them? The aliens responded that they could not because the "universal law of non-intervention" prohibited it. Master scolded them again and said that they had misunderstood it. It did not mean that they should not help their own, it meant to not interfere with the Earth's karma.

It was about the same period Master gave this lecture on the "planetary federation" that this book mentioned that this law had suddenly been stopped. Because this law had been stopped, the good aliens could now come and help bring about the Golden Age on Earth!

Master's Unexpected Tricks

I remember the time when I was just initiated, I was like a seedling in the bud, popping its head out shyly, looking around at the world. I heard that on the third anniversary day of the establishment of Hsihu Center, the Center held a dance party that "broke the world record of all religions." The monks dressed up as girls appearing "delicate and charming," while Master wore a glistening evening gown with Her back exposed, colorful makeup on Her face, and danced gracefully to the music.

At that time, I was still holding on to "religious ideology," and was dumbfounded upon hearing this. A fellow practitioner told me that Master was breaking our attachment to the outer appearance. Feeling prudent and horrified, I immediately consulted Bodhidharma's book on breaking appearances, and obtained the following comfort: "The outer appearance has nothing to do with the inner practice, the Master must have a reason for doing this."

By then I had a kind of an inner feeling in my heart telling me that Master would occasionally use some "unexpected tricks" to scare us -- the pitiful "future buddhas" awaiting to grow up, and that I would eventually come to understand Her painstaking intention!

No Need To Be An Ascetic

Later, Master let Her hair grow, wore makeup, dressed up as Chang Er (Goddess of the Moon), played the Ancient Chinese emperor, painted, wore gorgeous and unique dresses, played piano with Her foot, appeared on MTV, made CDs, designed celestial jewel, held celestial fashion shows, and even gave a performance personally to entertain the guests on Ching Hai Day, and so on. This whole series of unexpected tricks used by Master, seemingly has nothing to do with spiritual practice. However, before I realized it consciously, I became fully "immune" to Her unusual conduct. Moreover, I always let myself go and applaud, my eyes full of tears. Gradually, I have come to understand the meaning of what Master has said: "A simple life is to feel at home wherever you are, with whatever you have, and enjoy it!"

Keep Your Inner Purity

When I had just begun to follow this path, I thought I should put down all desires; yet I was able to put down none of them, and forcing myself to let go was really a suffering experience. Now I have gradually come to realize that we don't need to think about "putting anything down" at all. When we indeed have sincerity and faith and keep our inner purity, we thus become one with creation, and enjoy everything the Creator has granted us. This way, we can follow our intuition naturally and smoothly, and our anxieties and worries will vanish like mist and smoke. It will be like what the Sixth Zen Patriarch described: "Originally there was nothing, where would the dust (contamination) cling to?"

In the song "The Ocean of Love", Master says: "Rest in my bosom, then you'll know freedom. Rest in my loving arms..., you will then realize, I am everything that you've ever desired." It turns out that we don't even have to awaken, comprehend, plan, or struggle with ourselves; we just completely surrender to Hirm. Once we offer everything to God, we can simply enjoy and realize thorough happiness and comfort!

Follow Master's Example

Master has said: "If you think like a Buddha, behave like a Buddha, speak like a Buddha, then you are a Buddha!" How lucky we are to follow a living Buddha to practice. Obtaining Buddhahood is not easy; yet it is not impossible, if we can behave like a Buddha when walking, sitting, sleeping, eating, playing, meditating, managing the home, and working. Be like a Buddha in actions, speech and thoughts, then we are truly a Buddha!

Bright Lamp Lighten My Heart

I attended Master's fashion show in New York. Then I went to the New York Center for group meditation. Fortunately, I was able to sit very close to Master. Absolutely nothing can describe how I felt when I saw Her. After Her lecture, She asked for the lights to be turned down for group meditation. I then went through one of the greatest experiences of my life. It was the first time I experienced being in samadhi. After meditation I knew that all my questions were answered. I had found enlightenment. canvas.

Although I am still not a perfect being, I still have an ego, and I still make a lot of mistakes, I know that I can forgive myself. I can improve myself through meditating, go to group meditations, and have meaningful discussions with fellow initiates. And I know that the Master will help me because She is omnipresent, and whenever possible I will go to see Her for Her spiritual power is awesome. She will protect and support me on the spiritual path, make it smooth with fewer obstacles.

Between Master And Disciples

You Have Always Supported Me

Unfortunately, I had a very poor attitude towards meditating at the time. I had a lot of trouble finishing the required two and a half hours. Because of my attitude, I found that every aspect of my life began having troubles. Every time a new problem came up. I would complain to my earthly mother on the phone, then to my heavenly mother during meditation. True to my nature, I did nothing more to improve the situation; I did not increase my meditation time nor did I happily accept this test from Master as a chance to raise my level. Finally, the problems became too much to bear, so I cried out to Master in my meditation. My prayers were answered, Master was coming back to LA for a banquet.

Without saying more than this greeting, I knew that She had heard my cries for help, and that She was there to prop me up at my hour of need. She feels the yearnings of the billions of sentient beings on the planet at every moment, and She physically brought Herself to me to let me know that She was there for me. To this day, it brings tears to my eyes when I think about the sacrifices She makes for the least of Her disciples.

The intensity of our prayer is what makes it. That's what gets us the answer or not.

We have to be like an audience. We have to be wise enough, enlightened enough to watch all the games of the universe, and get out of the suffering.

Anyone who is enlightened is the embodiment of the scriptures; they understand any scripture thoroughly and correctly.

Hell, heaven and the world are choices. Places different for different temperaments. We cannot force people to live in a different world, if they don't want to.

The soul never dies! Whatever, disaster or dying, is only illusion.

The outside beautiful appearance looks good at first sight, but it will not look good after you look at it for a long time. In cases of illness or accidents, the outside beautiful appearance disappears in a short time. Having only a beautiful appearance but no joy and warmth inside, both husbands and wives cannot bear that after looking at each other for a long time. For instance, some have a half-dead appearance or a face that looks like a kind of reincarnated Buddha -- a bitter-melon-face Quan Yin Bodhisattva, etc... (Audience laughs.) These people must reflect upon themselves.

Dressing beautifully does not mean wearing expensive clothes, but putting on a smiling face and having a welcoming atmosphere. These are the most beautiful 'garments.' Try putting them on! (Audience applauds.)

Likewise, when a wife is angry, her husband should comfort her with a smile, hug her, and ask her what's wrong. Talk soothingly, then she will calm down. Being a good wife does not only depend on your face. Originally, I was going to teach you how to dress nicely and how to please your husbands. Now I'll forget about that. Not knowing where to start, it is very hard to teach sometimes.

A beautiful appearance will come naturally. Just meditate more and react according to your family situation; don't just depend on your face. But the face is also important, it is part of the criteria of being a good wife. Every morning, your face is the first thing your husband sees when he wakes up. If your face is terrible, he will have bad day-dreams all day in his office (Audience laughs.) Coming home in the evening, the last face he sees is also yours. If you again give him a long face, he will have even more nightmares all night. We spiritual practitioners should have merciful hearts. (Audience laughs and applauds.)

Honey, Go To Bed Early!

M: Spread the love message all the time. Always progress positively. It's better to tell the children, "Honey, you . . ." Just say it in a positive way instead of the negative way that we most often do. For example, we say, "Don't be so dirty," but we could say, "Honey, keep yourself clean." And the word "clean" will go inside the mind instead of the word "dirty." It doesn't matter the "don't" or "do." It's the essence of the sentence that's important. Most people say, "Don't be so dirty," "Don't be so cruel," or "Don't be so nasty," this, that and the other. Instead just say, "Be kind, be gentle, be gracious, be graceful," and then the essence of the words will boil down to "kind, gentle, graceful." And when everything else is gone, only the essence remains. We always keep telling children, "You are dirty," "Don't stay up late." Just say, "Go to bed early." I make that mistake too, I'm still learning also.

Sincerity Can Change One's Fate

To coordinate the Truth-spreading seminar in Nicaragua, fellow initiates in neighboring Costa Rica once again exercised their united spirit. They traveled a long way by car, bringing with them Master's books and news magazines to support the activity.

The working group stayed at the home of an old gentleman, who at first knew nothing about Master. However, once he heard about Supreme Master Ching Hai's teachings about morality, he became a fervent helper in the work of spreading the Truth. After gaining an understanding of Master's teachings, the old gentleman changed his views dramatically. He became a vegetarian and developed strong faith in Master. He is at present waiting for

The local people are simple and benign. Upon learning that everything offered by our group is free of charge, a driver of the broadcasting vehicle who was helping us broadcast the event, enthusiastically and unconditionally helped to pass out leaflets. He also offered to put up posters of the seminar on his car.

A radio station broadcaster, who had read Master's books, was happy to announce the news of the seminar on his radio program, thus allowing more Nicaraguans to hear the message of God.

Several Presidents Were Vegetarians

Recently fellow initiates in El Salvador wholeheartedly worked to spread the Truth. Moved by their spirit, all the staff at their company joined them and exerted their best efforts to assist and cooperate. It made the video lecture in El Salvador a smooth and successful event.

El Salvador is a very special nation. Once, when several fellow initiates had a stop over at the El Salvador Airport, they could feel that it was a spiritually strong country. As it turned out, there had been several former Presidents of El Salvador who were vegetarians and who encouraged their people to adopt a vegetarian diet. This led to a benign and peaceful atmosphere throughout the entire nation.

Although the venue of the lecture was the city hall, fellow initiates had to make a long row of additional seats in the aisle because there was not enough seating to accommodate the large number of enthusiastic guests. The guests were delightedly and attentively appreciate Master's video lecture. Afterwards, they were anxious to register for initiation or to learn the Convenient Method. During the questions and answers period, they asked sincere questions from their hearts. With Master's blessings, the audience received satisfactory replies. Amidst joyful applause, the lecture ended a great success.

A journalist with La Prensa Crafica, a major newspaper in El Salvador, is very interested in Master's teachings. He decided to use a full page to publish a report on Master. In the interview that he recorded with a young fellow initiate from Costa Rica, he was full of admiration and respect for the eloquence, spontaneity and positive attitude of the young spiritual practitioner.

A fellow initiate who rushed from Costa Rica to help with the work was stunned when he arrived at the venue. It turned out that he had had a vision of the scene while meditating months earlier. He even recognized one of the people in the audience as someone he had seen in his vision.

An Affinity With An Enlightened Being Tied A Thousand Miles Away

Uruguay is a quiet and peaceful country in South America. The atmosphere there is ideal for spiritual practice. In Paysandu, a city on the border, a person with an affinity with Master casually got a copy of Master's sample booklet in a book shop. After reading the booklet he was filled with bliss and decided to pursue spiritual practice.

After he had already been a vegetarian for three months, Master sent a Quan Yin essenger to South America. Upon receiving the news, this would-be initiate immediately sent a letter inviting the Quan Yin messenger to come to Uruguay so that his compatriots could know more about Master's teachings. Some earnest Argentinian fellow initiates drove all the way to the remote city of Paysandu to help with the Truth-spreading and translation work.

Master's videos were shown every evening at this would-be initiate's home. The father of this would-be initiate was a sincere and open-minded spiritual practitioner. He invited his fellow practicing friends to come to watch Master's videos.

On the first evening, the entire little living room was packed with guests. Some standing and some sitting, they were all sincerely focused on Master's lecture. Many of them

An old lady who has been practicing spirituality for many years knew that Master has great power, so she came almost everyday. In meditation, she saw herself passing through a tunnel with bright light at the other end. Another person practiced some other methods before, but every night she couldn't sleep peacefully and was greatly disturbed. After she had practiced the Convenient Method on the first day, she went home and slept very comfortably. Knowing that it was Master who had helped her, she prayed sincerely to thank Master. On the second day, she went again for meditation and saw Master wearing a white dress and emitting very bright white light.

In Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, there is a Chinese couple who also practiced the Convenient Method and distribute Master's sample booklets at their photo-finishing shop. Many Uruguan people, after reading the sample booklets, telephoned to ask about spiritual practice and the vegetarian diet. The response has been overwhelming and warm.

Great Fun At The Mountain Retreat

A recent weekend was greatly blessed by a Mountain Retreat for the Denver and Boulder fellow initiates. These two groups usually have separate group meditation sessions in their respective cities, but organize retreats together several times a year.

The original schedule of the retreat included several two-hour meditation sessions throughout the day. After the first two-hour session, the group was inspired to meditate continuously for four hours. Originally, several initiates had difficulties with their meditation due to health reasons, but they managed to join in all the sessions. Even an initiate who arrived exhausted from work could meditate the entire night. Feeling so blissful after the weekend retreat, fellow initiates have decided to hold 1 or 2-day retreats once a month.

In Denver, there is great cohesion among members of the Quan Yin family. Actively, they spread Master's teachings and follow Master's guidelines by often rendering love and care to local refugees and homeless people.

Receiving A Most Precious Gift - Master's Sample Booklet

In The Natural Therapies Cancer Center of this city they use hypnosis to cure cancers. One of their staff, also a volunteer fire-fighter, recently got a copy of Master's sample booklet that was on the notice board in his office. Immediately, he felt as if he had received a most precious gift.

He read the book sincerely, and immediately went to the local Center to get more booklets for his colleagues. Though he had been to many places searching for an enlightened master, he never expected that he could find one in his hometown.

Deeply impressed by Supreme Master Ching Hai's elegance and beauty, she decided to produce a program introducing Supreme Master Ching Hai and the Celestial Clothes of Her design, to the local viewers.

The Warmth Of Love Reaches The "Samsui Women"

In Singapore, there is a group of old women who have sacrificed their entire lives for society. People call them the Samsui women. In previous years, construction work in Singapore depended mostly on human labour. This group of women left their home town in Kwangtung Province, China, to come to Singapore. They have sacrificed their blood and sweat, as well as their youth, for this faraway land.

Through great hardship and difficulties, they have transformed the wastelands into a city. Grateful for their contribution, the Singapore Government especially takes care of them now that they are old.

One Sunday after group meditation, fellow practitioners, carrying vegetarian snacks, paid a visit to them. While savoring the delicious vegetarian treats, the old folks also watched Master's video tapes. In Cantonese and Hokienese dialects, fellow practitioners chatted lightheartedly with them amid waves of cheerful laughter. A most heartwarming scene.

Each old woman received an exquisite gift bag of love, containing all sorts of nutritious food and everyday sundry items. However, what attracted them most was Master's graceful smile on the leaflets. While thanking Master repeatedly, they said that they did not lack material things, but they were very grateful for Master's love and concern. Fellow practitioners continued to chat with them cordially to alleviate their loneliness, thus bringing to them great joy.

Fellow practitioners also took Master's love into the home for the aged, and the Tampines Home which provides care and training for people who are mentally handicapped.

Whenever they went to these places, they would play Master's Buddhist Chanting tape, and distribute Master's sample booklets. Feeling God's eternal love flooding their souls, these lonely people whose souls were thirsty for love, laughed cheerfully and happily! Their bliss, generated from deep within, touched all the fellow practitioners present. Therefore, they realized the truth in Master's words: "TTo love others is to love ourselves." They know there is greater blessing in giving than in taking!

The Warmth Of Master's Love Permeates Penghu Prison

Despite the north-easterly wind blowing briskly over the island, the winter sun was surprisingly warm on this particular day, reflecting the blissful hearts of fellow initiates! For several days, everyone had been working busily preparing for the trip; and the harder they worked, the more fulfilled they felt.

The environment at Penghu Prison was neat, fresh and bright. Immaculately taken care of by the inmates, the plants and trees were blossoming, displaying a greenish scene that gives a good impression to visitors. Fellow practitioners who arrived early sat on the ground and meditated. In an oval shaped frame, Master's photo was hung on a yellow curtain. Her merciful eyes and graceful smile shone upon the entire venue. Master's video was being played when the inmates entered. After sitting, they watched the screen attentively. Induced by Master's light-hearted and spontaneous discourse, everyone laughed cheerfully.

Then, the main speaker - a fellow brother - told his own story of how he went through all the ups and downs in the crime circle, how he eventually met Master and started to pursue spiritual practice, and the miraculous stories that happened in between. All these struck a sympathetic note within the inmates.

Finally, the fellow practitioners sang "Tears of the Holy Mother" together. Amid everyone's sincere good wishes, the inmates left the venue to enjoy some delicious refreshments. An ambience of love and peace pervaded the whole place.

Fellow practitioners told the officer that they didn't want to miss this rare chance to learn a lesson of love, so they decided to come even if they had to take leave. The smooth and successful result of this Truth-spreading trip to the prison is an auspicious overture for the many other activities that will be organized by the Penghu initiates.

Good Results From Environmental Protection Work

Following Master's instruction, and in cooperation with the Green Environment and Protection Project, Penghu Center adopted the Chung Zhen Park for maintenance. After several years of persistent work planting and nursing new plants, the results are outstanding. Pedestrians are always fascinated. Besides praising, some earnest people even advise their fellow countrymen to learn from the Penghu Center, so as to achieve the goal of an all green environment.

A Delightful Green Scene Along The Sidewalk

Have you ever noticed that between the War Heroes Memorial Temple and the Confucius Temple the pavement is very clean and beautified with a greenery? This section of the pavement has been adopted for maintenance by the Penghu Center of the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association. After three years of sincere ettort managing and cultivating, great results have finally been achieved.

To practically carry out the "cleaning of the main routes and the maintenance trial project" approved by the County Government, the County Environmental Protection Bureau particularly uses the results of the adoption by the Supreme Master Ching Hai Penghu Center as an example to stress that road maintenance is absolutely not difficult. To make the environment green we only need perseverance and patience. If the people would demonstrate their social moral spirit and volunteer to adopt roads and sidewalks for maintenance, then the job of cleaning and maintaining all the dirty and busy roadways in the county would be "a piece of cake." Korean Generals Loved The Vegetarian Food

The husband of a fellow initiate is a colonel in the army. Recently, he was assigned the task of arranging a grand banquet for the one and two star generals and other high ranking officials of Korea. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for him. This fellow initiate asked me to cook for the banquet.

Before I began cooking, I prayed and meditated for a while. I talked to Master and the Buddhas: "Please use me as Your tool, even though I am not a good cook." Then I saw the power of the Holy Names go into the food; I was so touched. When I cooked the twelve dishes and put them on the beautifully decorated long table, I was so grateful to Master for helping me to accomplish this task.

One of the generals said to me, "I am going to tell the Korean monks and nuns that there is vegetarian meat to replace real meat. Thank you very much for helping me to understand vegetarianism, and please teach our wives how to cook vegetarian." He repeated many times, that if they were to have another banquet with the Korean President or other VIPs, they hoped that they could enjoy these delicious vegetarian dishes again.

Pearls Of Wisdom

If last life we obstructed many people practicing or we tried to do some bad things to many people, then this life that kind of bad karma will come back, obstruct us, and make a lot of trouble for us. Even if we have a very good will, we've a free will to be able to change our life and to choose between good and evil, sometimes the karma from the past life obstructs us, makes so much difficulty for us to fulfill our good will that we can't do the good things that we want in such a quick way and in such a smooth way.

That's why we saw there's a limit to free will; otherwise, there's no limit to free will at all. That's why we must practice very hard, using our strong almighty power inside in order to overcome any obstacles that we ourselves or anyone else planted before or at the present time on our road.

When we practice the presence of God, when we are in touch with our true almighty power inside, we know that everything will be all right, know that everything will happen in time, that whatever will happen will happen, whatever blessings we'll get, we'll get. So we feel very relaxed, very protected, very calm, very blissful even; because during that time of struggle and tribulation, God's power is very strong, because God knows we need it at that more than usual time. So when we sincerely pray at that time, we get double, triple, multiple blessings. That's why by praying for the destitute, desperate or the unfortunate at that time with our sincerity, we also get the benefit of the blessing. That's why we feel blissful and calm, not sorrowful and worried. That's the secret!

Master's Wondrous Loving Power A Little Fairy Has Gone Home The Miracles In Medical Science

Master's Wondrous Loving Power

I was delighted the moment I started to read the copy of Master's sample booklet that a female initiate gave me. I immediately had an unwavering faith in Master.

One night in a dream, I found myself drifting up and down in mid air. I sensed that I was about to fall straight down and end up with broken bones or some serious injuries. At that moment of fright, I suddenly thought of Supreme Master Ching Hai. So I called out, "Supreme Master Ching Hai, help me!" Strangely, just as my words were out, I was standing on the ground safely, and I had a warm feeling throughout my body.

I was very grateful to Master for saving my life, and I could feel that She was right there beside me. Kneeling and bowing my head, I exclaimed, "Supreme Master Ching Hai, I want initiation!" At that time, I saw in the sky, not too far away, a big and bright crescent moon. I could see clearly that in the moon there were a pair of big, bright eyes looking at me. So I kept bowing to the moon and prayed to Master to initiate me.

When I calmed down, I discovered that not too far from the moon there was a small sun (smaller than the moon). When I woke up, I was very excited, and my dream was still vivid in my mind. Since then I have been determined to become a vegetarian.

Shortly afterwards, I met dear Master in my dream again. She looked so young! Dressed like a village girl with Her hair in braids, She looked only twenty years old. She was smiling at me. When I woke up, I deeply regretted not taking the opportunity to tell Her of my longing in my heart.

Several months ago, I was sent to Xixuangbana, Burma, near the Chinese border, on an observation trip. I was very excited, hoping to meet the dear Master or some fellow practitioners there. In Burma, with an emotional heart, I searched all the shops on each road and lane for the sight of Master. Even if I could not see Master in person, I still hoped to meet some fellow practitioners so I could ask them to request Master to grant me initiation sooner. I looked carefully in each shop to see if there were any of Master's photos inside. This caused shop keepers to look at me strangely on many occasions.

When I returned to the inn in the evening, my partner said she could not sleep due to a headache. I put Master's magazine beneath her pillow.

Waking up the next morning, she told me excitedly, "I dreamt of Supreme Master Ching Hai! She was chatting and laughing with some people, and She also smiled at me. I even pointed at Master and told you, 'Master is here! Your Master is here!'" (My partner was aware of my anxiety to find Master.)

Hearing her words, I cried with great emotion. I told my partner, "I have no more regrets. Master knows what I came here for, and She is comforting me through you."

We left Xixuangbana that night. Before getting on the plane, I cried silently to the sky, "Farewell, beautiful Xixuangbana. I've finally realized that Master is always by my side."

Oh Master! Please give initiation to Your disciple earlier!

A Little Fairy Has Gone Home

A fellow sister told me excitedly, "Do you know that my daughter has passed way?"
No one, except those who have personally experienced Master's love,
could "understand" her happy expression.

Master And The Little Girl

The daughter of this fellow sister was born with congenital heart disease and tone deaf. Once, when she took her daughter to Hsihu Center, Master touched the child gently and asked with great concern, "Is the child sick?"

The fellow sister replied, "Yes, she has something wrong with her ears."

Master said compassionately, "Nowadays medical science is highly developed. Take her to consult better doctors. Should you need money, you may get it from Hsihu Center." When the girl last saw Master, she waved to Master, and Master also waved to her, as if they were saying to each other, "We shall meet again in heaven."

An Auspicious Look

The girl died of heart failure. Her mother immediately played a recording of Master's Buddhist Chanting, and as expected, the child's face became pinker each day. Her lips became rosy red - really beautiful! Everyone who saw her would say: "Very beautiful! Very lovely!" Some people even said, "She has become a Buddha!"

The Manifestation Body Of Master Joins The Chanting Session

On the evening of the little girl's death, several fellow initiates went to hold a meditation session. On the day of the cremation, a gentleman saw Master's photo and asked our initiates, "Who is this person?"

A fellow practitioner replied, "This is our Master!"

Upon seeing Master's photo, a caretaker of the funeral home also said, "Recently, this Master has often come to join the chanting sessions."

A Small Child With Many Relics

On the day of the cremation, the undertaker was greatly puzzled, and asked, "What is your religious faith? You don't bow and pray, no ritual is being held, even the make-up is omitted, yet you insist on playing Master's Buddhist Chantings." Nonetheless, when he saw the pinkish face of the little girl, he couldn't help saying, "Wow! She is so beautiful! No make-up is necessary really."

After the cremation, the whole crematorium was pervaded with an unprecedented "blissful atmosphere." It was because, for the first time, relics had been found in the incinerator - a handful of them! Immediately, many people earnestly helped collect the ashes and relics to share the blessing. Everyone was very amazed: the girl was young, but her body produced many relics.

Deep inside, the fellow practitioners are extremely grateful to Master. Although the little girl was not initiated, Master took care of her all the same.

The Miracles In Medical Science

I went along to the lecture. Master spoke and I was so caught -- Her energy affected me so much. I knew to the very depth of my being that this is what I had been waiting for. So I stayed that night for the initiation. Much to my wife's surprise when I got home at nearly midnight, I was vegetarian and not drinking. At the time of initiation, I saw a big brown whirlpool. The water in the whirlpool was very, very muddy, very messy; and it was swirling away all of the errors in my life into the whirlpool.

Letters Between Master And Disciples

I Don't Want To Come Back Again!

My dearest Master,

On an April day, when all things appeared fresh and gay, I went to the ancient city beside the Seine, Paris, where I saw Your loving appearance for the first time, and fulfilled the greatest desire of my life.

At the group meditation with over several thousand people attending, I even had the fortune to hold Your fragrant and tender Buddha hand; and instantly, a pulse of soul-stirring electricity spread through my limbs. I was so excited that I lost consciousness. (Later I realized that I was in samadhi, and had become one with my Buddha Master).

When I suddenly came out of samadhi, I found that Master had already entered the crowd, which was overflowing with excitement. Feeling ecstatic, I had no idea about what to do with my lucky hands, but to continuously rub my wisdom eye and burning cheeks.

In Paris, which is as beautiful as a painting, I not only greatly enjoyed a feast of beauty - the S.M. Celestial Fashion Show which surpassed the pinnacle of modern fashion shows; but also several months later in Nice, I again saw You, my dearest Master, who I missed day and night.

At the hotel's entrance, my initiated daughter was very honored to pass through the welcoming crowd to approach You first, and offer You a bouquet of flowers. She also was blessed by Your touch on her head.

That day, I bowed to You and prostrated to You repeatedly, yet could not quell my strong yearning, love and esteem for You. On the contrary, they became more turbulent, like a raging fire. You personally gave me cookies, candies and cakes; and stroked my left cheek lovingly. I felt that my heart was bursting with blooming, shining lotus flowers. Without a single blink I stared at You giving a discourse, speaking with eloquence and assurance. Like an overflowing vessel, my heart was filled with happiness.

I will never forget when, after Your discourse Your lotus feet stepped down from the stage, and You passed by me like a spring breeze. You let me hold it which was as beautiful as jade, and I kissed the back of it with the greatest reverence. Oh God, one ten thousandth of my happiness and satisfaction are beyond the description of any worldly language.

Oh Master, it was You who encouraged me with Your boundless love so that before Your departure I forgot everything and rushed to Your car door to be close to You. I gathered all my courage and asked: "Master, would You please touch my wisdom eye to bless me?"

Being the most understanding Master, You did not blame my unquenchable greediness; but moreover, smiled warmly and replied: "Okay! Okay!" and immediately raised Your Buddha arm, and put Your Buddha finger on my wisdom eye. I became intoxicated! At that moment, my soul surpassed space and time, detached from everything, and soared to the highest heaven.

Often in the dead of night, I always repeatedly think of and relive the love that Master granted me. Sometimes, I truly dare not believe that I had such a close and intimate encounter with my dear Master. How lucky I am to have obtained in this lifetime Master's secret method, and the Truth which enables people to be completely liberated from life and death and be immediately enlightened.

It has been almost a year and a half since I obtained initiation, and my determination to obtain eternal liberation in this lifetime becomes stronger and stronger each day. Even though God treats me very well in my life, and I have a husband who loves our family wholeheartedly and a couple of children who both are initiates, I still don't want to come back again. Even if God allows me to be born as a queen or princess, I will definitely refuse. I only wish that after this life, I will not have single connection with this Earth - the tumultuous human society!

Thank You Master for Your great grace, merit, compassion and mercy. I wish that Your beauty lasts forever!

Your disciple prostrates herself to You one hundred times.

He followed a master to study. He told his master that he longed to see God, but he didn't know how he could learn to be humble. He felt himself to be unclean, impure and not humble; so he could not see God.

His master said, "Good! Now you go and find someone or something filthier, lower and humbler than you. Bring them to me, or just tell me; then I can teach you how to learn from them, how to become humbler."

He went from Taipei to Kaohsiung but failed to find anyone, not even in Miaoli. Though we are so lousy, he couldn't find anyone lousier than he. He felt frustrated.

Once, when in the toilet, he suddenly thought that the feces must be filthier and lower than he, since no one would want them and would run away covering their noses upon seeing them. He wanted to take a heap of feces to his master, because he could not find anything lower than that.

Just as he reached out his hand, and before he touched "them" he suddenly heard a voice say, "Don't touch me! Don't move! Don't touch me!" The man was amazed and wondered who was talking. Then the voice was heard again, "Don't you touch me!" It seemed that the feces was talking to him. Totally bewildered, he asked, "Why not? Why can't I touch you?"

We all think we are very good, but the truth is that we might not be! We think we are better than the feces, but the truth is that they turn into that state because of us. We spiritual practitioners know very well whether we have the quality of humility within or not. Don't think that we are anything great.

A Thief Becomes A Spiritual Practitioner

The other eunuch said, "Good! It is good! The princess is the most precious person in the country, and the monks practicing by the Ganges River are also the most rare, most virtuous and most noble persons in the world. Naturally, I am delighted and agree with the idea!" Hearing these words, the thief halted his stealing business, and stealthily went back to become a monk instead. (Laughter)

Hastily, he shaved his head, put on a monk's robe and then mixed among the monks to meditate, while hoping the princess would become his wife.

Several days later, the king really sent a eunuch to the bank of the Ganges River, to ask the monks whether they would marry the princess. He asked one by one. Upon receiving a negative answer, he would ask the next one, and the next one.

The monks were good practitioners and didn't care about the princess, so all of them declined. Only the thief remained unasked, sitting there with his heart throbbing like mad. His mind screamed: I am here! Come over quickly. (Laughter) Finally, the eunuch went to ask him. When the eunuch asked him, he remained silent, (laughter) and didn't say a word. All the others said they didn't want to, but he didn't say anything. It was already a great difference.

The eunuch was very happy, and reported to the king, "A monk practicing by the Ganges seems to have the intention of marrying the princess. We asked him, he didn't decline, which means he has consented 90 percent, only that he didn't decisively say he really agrees. Among those whom we asked, he was the only one who didn't say no."

The king took along all his councillors, generals and the eunuch, and went to the Ganges where the thief was meditating. With great respect, he asked the "monk" to marry the princess. As the king also practiced spiritually, he didn't want to marry the princess to an ordinary person. He preferred his daughter to marry a spiritual practitioner, so she could also practice in the company of a good husband, a good teacher. The king would only be satisfied having a son-in-law who could teach the princess how to meditate and to be a virtuous person. Therefore, upon hearing that a practitioner meditating by the Ganges would marry the princess, he was very happy. He showed him great respect, bowed to him, and asked him to marry his daughter.

The thief was complacent, but then he thought: I have just shaved and put on a monk's robe impersonating a monk, a spiritual practitioner, yet the king and all his councillors treat me with so much respect, and offer me wealth and precious things. I can't imagine what it would be like if I were to become a real monk, a real spiritual practitioner!"

After consideration, he didn't want to marry the princess anymore! (Laughter) Instead, he started to practice seriously. Pretending in the first place, he now became a real monk because he perceived the benefits of spiritual practice. Since then, the thief meditated and practiced very sincerely. Eventually he was enlightened and became a great saint, a very famous spiritual practitioner.

The Greatest Day For Children -

Master Commends Outstanding Young Fellow Practitioners

The process of selection was both objective and strict. Parents nominated their children before local centers and teachers made their recommendations. Then only after practitioners at Hsihu screened all the outstanding young fellow practitioners, were the selections made.

Master Mommy's Praise Is The Highest Honor

Rainbow Garden, the huge children's play area was tightly packed. A joyous atmosphere was also created by the display of many brightly colored large bags of awards. They not only included material prizes such as chocolates, baseballs, building blocks, toy cars and teddy bears to play with, but also spiritual gifts like Master's audio tapes, book of aphorisms and so on. The children awaiting to receive the awards were seated at the very front of the audience. Receiving awards is a common thing for these well-behaved, scholarly children, but none of the other awards could compare to a word of praise from Master Mommy, which is the highest honor.

The children were all dressed beautifully. Some boys even wore suits with bow ties. The scene was filled with a happy atmosphere similar to that of a Chinese New Year celebration.

When Master appeared with a little round hat, the joyful atmosphere became jubilant. Accompanied by cheerful music, the ceremony began with awards for the young fellow initiates who ranked in the top three at school in their studies, and had excelled in painting, dancing, abacus calculating, mental arithmetic, compositing, reciting or athletics. The first winner did not appear long after his name was announced; because as it transpired, he was too short to be seen. Master said, "You are excellent for your age. Very good. You look like me when I was a kid."

Good Kids Excel Both Academically And In Martial Arts

Upon hearing the honorable deeds of the children announced by the MC, Master commented, "Good both scholastically and in martial arts, they are really our children! I was like them when I was a child - very good at martial arts too, like Shaolin Kongfu, Plum flower boxing and Tiger boxing (fist). They are still useful now." Immediately She roared loudly, which made everyone laugh. "No one was able to bully me; because as soon as they tried to attack, I ran away instantly. I ran very fast." Master talked about Her childhood humorously.

While presenting the awards to the children She said, "I used to receive awards frequently in my childhood, but they were not as abundant as these." She read out the different kinds of prizes like baseballs and building blocks, and joked with the children, "You should take them away quickly before I change my mind and take them back for myself to play with." Master was very happy to see so many good children.

During the presentations, the children were quiet and well-behaved; and many interesting incidents occurred. Some kids were of kindergarten age, yet even taller than Master. They were the best advertisement for vegetarianism. Seeing one of them, Master said, "He was very little when I first saw him. Now he is this big, yet I remain the same." After laughing heartily, we began to realize how much sacrifice Master has actually made over the years just to teach us.

Balancing Progress Both Spiritually And In Worldly Talents

Because all the children who took part in the selection had progressed in a balanced manner both spiritually and in developing their talents, Master praised them, "We here have very strict criteria. One needs to be excellent in both character and scholarship - multi-talented, well behaved, meditate, and keep a vegetarian diet. Perhaps even I cannot qualify for the award." (Master and everyone laughed.)

For the one who could do mental arithmetic, the MC tested him on the spot. "How much will there be if you add five dollars and five dollars?"

"Ten dollars."

"The answer is correct!"

There were children who play the Chinese zither, paint with watercolors, skate, and speak French. Some boys dance and also help with the work at the meditation center. Others gave their teachers, "The Key of Immediate Enlightenment" on Teacher's Day. Some even signed up and recommended themselves, stating their own strong points and demonstrating their deep sense of democracy. One child arrived after the selections crying his eyes out because he was delayed. Fortunately, he came at the end and received a prize. No matter how many special talents they possessed, most important was that they practiced diligently and meditated everyday on their own initiative even when they were very busy preparing for tests, or their parents were away from home.

Further Progress With Persistent Efforts

In Her discourse after the awards, Master urged the winners to make further progress, and also encouraged those who did not win awards to make persistent efforts. She said, "I feel happy for you. It is not easy to be a good child. I used to rank number one, number two, number three, yet my father was still not happy. He did that deliberately. He was in fact extremely and silently happy inside. He smiled to himself at night. They were deliberately being picky, so that we would make further progress. My father was very strict and did not praise me even once. I studied harder and harder. That's why I became a teacher." (Everyone applauded.)

"If my parents spoiled me all the time, did not scold me, did not push me really hard, I don't know where I'd be today. So for those little friends who did not receive awards, or those whose parents don't think they are good enough, don't worry and don't feel sad. You still need to try hard. It is important that we know that we are good -- not that others praise us. The winners just now deserve it. You should follow their examples, so maybe your life will become more comfortable, you will make more progress in your studies, and it will be easier for you to communicate with your parents."

Master also highlighted the qualities of a good child, "I think a good and excellent child is not only good-looking or high ranking in school, but he/she must also have a beautiful heart -- a loving heart, be patient with other people, endure humiliation, and have the spirit of humbleness and the attitude of sacrifice and dedication. A child like this is really good. He should remain smiling and obedient no matter how badly his parents get angry at him, how teachers treat him. He would not strike back and start a fight no matter how other students treat him. Instead, he would use his love to move them. This is indeed a good child.

"If you are like this -- that's enough. It doesn't matter if you receive an award or not. You can buy chocolates outside. (Everyone laughed.) When you go home, meditate more. Everything will become okay if you meditate more. The knowledge in the world sometimes is very impermanent. Maybe we don't have such talents but that doesn't mean that we don't have wisdom inside. Wisdom and knowledge are different."

Master's prophetic words also gave the old 'children' much to think about.

To be able to obtain the honorable award of a "good child" from Master Mommy is a supremely glorifying and joyful experience. Let us look at these children's daily efforts and words from their hearts after having received their awards.

Master Satisfied My Wish

Young fellow initiate Li's biggest desire was to ride in Master's "big baby carriage" (Her beautified golf cart for children), but she had not had a chance. Her mother comforted her, "Master will know your wish as long as you are diligent."

She immediately changed her habit of being irritatingly slow to doing things quickly and with concentration. Her scores in school also improved dramatically. She was even accepted into a highly competitive music class. She also helped with housework and took care of her younger bothers and sisters. These things pleased her parents very much.

On the day Master awarded the prizes, She called ten children, who ranked A at school to ride in Her "golf cart for children." Li was one of the children; her wish was finally fulfilled.

Young fellow initiate Zhan felt a lot of love from Master during the awards ceremony. He went back with fruitful results both in spirit and materially. He did not think that his scores in school were outstanding; however, receiving this special honor, he treasure it even more and would study more diligently. Thank You Master for Your love!

Things Are Never The Same After Following Master

Young fellow initiate Su liked to go to group meditation because there were many books and toys in the children's house. After entering elementary school, he faced a lot of pressure to study. His mom, also an initiate, asked a Quan Yin messenger for a secret method to help the child. The messenger said, "When the child comes home from school, give him a bath first, let him relax, meditate, and then do other things."

As expected, he became calm and gentle, and his conduct became even better. Currently, the teacher in charge of his class is a vegetarian and the number of vegetarian classmates has increased to five. Su's mom said, "Ever since we have followed Master, things have never been the same again. Everything is taken care of by Her."

Young fellow initiate Lu has been encouraged greatly by the guards of the children's house. She often helps with the work there and also takes care of her younger bothers and sisters. She helps them with their homework on her own initiative. Her most praiseworthy quality is that she is reliable - whatever she promises, she tries her best to fulfil.

Young fellow initiate Zhang gave the book, "The Key of Immediate Enlightenment" to his teacher on Teacher's Day, because he said, "This book is very good!" His faith is firm and he likes to go to group meditation. It is his experience that it is easier to enter samadhi while meditating with many people. We asked him, "If you did not win a prize, would you be upset?"

He answered optimistically, "No, I wouldn't. I'd try again next year."

Shy in nature, young fellow initiate Zheng is not used to other people's praise. He said, "It may be better not winning a prize." He was surprised that all his good deed and the praiseworthy comments by his teachers at school -- his honesty and loving heart, were revealed publically at the ceremony. Cooking is another one of his special hobbies. His stir-fried cabbage is said to be even better than his mom's!

Young fellow practitioner Liao, who received two large bags of awards for being selected the "best child," has often come to Hsihu Center with his mom in recent years. He loves Master very much. Last year, as soon as Master returned to Hsihu Center from abroad, he applied for and became initiated. Every time Master walks around the crowd to bless everyone, he always quickly runs after Her. He has also received a lot of blessed food.

Liao is very popular at school, and this semester he served as a monitor in his class. He is good at billiards, table tennis, swimming, karate and baseball. And he usually finds adult opponents to play Chinese chess and Chinese checkers. His biggest wish is to practice meditation diligently in this lifetime and follow Master to be able to practice smoothly.

I Am My Mother's Little Dharma Guard

Little fellow initiate Chang is only nine years old, so he had difficulty carrying all the gifts awarded him. However, he still used all his might to carry them himself, because it was an honour awarded by Master, not any ordinary prize.

Besides immediately sharing the candies with other little friends, he also told his younger brother, "These toys were given by Master to us. We will enjoy them together."

Before he was initiated, little Chang was always listless and unhappy; full of fears and insecure. After initiation, he became strong and relaxed. His mother, a fellow sister, said with a touching tone, "Master is the greatest psychologist in the universe."

In the eyes of her schoolmates, little initiate Won is a gallant hero. Once, she accompanied her mother to a company meeting, and saw her boss smoking continuously. Therefore, when she returned home, she wrote a letter trying to persuade him to quit smoking. Under her loving advise, the boss has greatly reduced how much he smokes.

Little initiate Chen loves very much to meditate. He often encourages his schoolmates to become vegetarians and to pursue spiritual practice. He even gave sample booklets and magazines to the mother of a classmate, and explained to her the benefits of spiritual practice. Observing his progress in study and in daily life after the initiation, his father and aunt have also started a vegetarian diet and are practicing the Quan Yin Method.

Wishing To Do Something For Master Mommy

Young fellow practitioner Wu has been a vegetarian ever since he was in his mother's womb; he became a half initiate as soon as he reached the age of six. Now his whole family frequently meditates together at home. Although he is naughty sometimes, when meditating he is very serious. Master has said, "Children are Buddhas. They are young physically, but their souls are not."

Because his parents both work in the field of education, they know well about the importance of family education. So Wu and his brothers have been responsible for doing simple tasks around the house since they were in first grade. Although their parents still have to clean up after them sometimes, by doing at least some housework, they are trained to be independent and to do things on their own initiative.

Children who practice the Quan Yin Method are pure, but it is hard for them to avoid learning bad language and behavior at school. Fortunately, they meditate earnestly everyday and their bad habits can be easily erased.

Young fellow initiate Yu and his sister both won prizes. This was not the first time he has won a prize. He has received flowers personally from Master, has had rides in Master's golf cart twice, and has even sat by Master's side. These priceless gifts have encouraged him greatly. He feels that Master Mommy loves little initiates very much, and he also loves Her as much. To express his love to Master Mommy, he meditates even more diligently after returning home. He wants to be a good role model for his sister.

Since both of his parents work at the local Center, he has taken the responsibility of taking care of himself and his sister. He also helps with housework so that his parents can have more time to work at the Center. He would really like to be able to do some work for Master Mommy in the future.

Especially Good Homework After Group Meditation

Little sister Yu loves Master very much. She follows Master's instructions and meditates everyday. Master has said, "Your wisdom will develop more if you meditate more." Therefore, her brother always does very well at school and sister Yu herself also always ranks highly at school. She does her homework exceptionally well, especially after group meditation. She loves Master, but she is too shy to say, "Master, I love You!" After winning the award this time, she wants to say, "Master, thank You!"

Generally speaking, parents all feel that their children have improved in their personalities, temperment and physical health after they received initiation. Parents who are spiritual practitioners are more likely to treat their children as independent individuals and as their respectful friends. Children who practice spiritually seems especially pure, innocent and natural. They also have the quality of helpfulness and the desire to be useful, honest, and trustworthy to others. They have their own spirit of independence. They help with housework, take care of younger brothers and sisters, and are self-disciplined.

With Master's love, they all willingly meditate and experience the joy of meditation. They also realize the benefits of meditation in their lives. Their other achievements such as progress in school work, enhanced abilities to learn, and development of their other talents are all due to the wonders of meditation.

Just Like New Years Day

Each time on my way home, I felt very sad. No matter how my parents consoled me, I still thought that I was not good enough. Therefore, I meditated even more diligently, hoping to sit in Master's precious car one day.

When participating in the competition for the 'excellent little initiate' this time, my parents told me that an 'excellent little initiate' does not only behave nicely that day, but also everyday; even when my sister annoys me deliberately, I still must love her. They asked me if I could really do it. I thought I could, and was very happy to have the opportunity to participate in the competition. I specially reminded myself not to fall asleep during meditation on Saturday night, and extended the meditation time to one hour.

My mother asked about my feelings when I received the prize from Master personally. I said I was very happy, very delighted, and very excited. She kept on asking. I don't know what else she wanted to know. Adults are really strange! Oh, I forgot. I realized then that Master loved me a lot, so I laughed even in my dream. Originally, I had the opportunity to ride in Master's little car that day. However, I didn't, as I was very contented and felt that I shouldn't be too greedy.

That day was just like New Years Day, and my whole family was very happy. Master I love You.

Be A Faithful Partner

If you get married and you stay with one person for a long time and all the time, you think you are faithful; but be careful. Some people use marriage certificate as a shield in order to play to the limit. Sometimes flirt around with people and then people can't say anything because I'm married. So people think that just because you are married, you can kind of flirt around all the time without worrying; because if you don't like that person, say, "Sorry I'm married." If you like then you can flirt a lot more and then use marriage as a limit, so that you can enjoy it to some certain extent; but then no one can do anything, no one can say anything. After all you go back to your husband, or to your wife. But that's not true faithfulness either.

True Faithfulness

So if you truly want to be faithful to your wife or husband the precept is from inside out. You don't even look at another person. You don't even care what the other person wears or does. You don't care what he or she looks like. And you don't even have one idea of comparing your wife or husband to another persons', or to look for a kind of pleasure in any form apart from your own partner. That is true faithfulness. That is very difficult. But difficult doesn't mean impossible. I did that during my marriage. It was just natural. It was not because I knew the precept or anything like that. It was just natural. When I was married, I was married. I knew that, and finish. So if you yourself make your will become strong and guide your own mind and passion into one direction only, your life will become more peaceful, your marriage will become blissful and enjoyable.

If you don't guide yourself, you will always make excuses, like, "Oh I'm just holding hands. I'm just looking. I'm not doing anything. I haven't gone to bed with her yet." Need you do that in order to be unfaithful? There is astral sex as well, not physical only. I'm sorry to tell you all this so bluntly and not very nobly, but what else can I tell you? Sex is not ignoble, if you have love between each other and between the bond of marriage and responsibility, only if you do it with love, then you should have sex with your partner. If you don't feel love, this is just a machine function, it is abusing each other's physical beauty, and there's nothing there. You will feel very empty, you will begin to look around, and then you'll be in a worse situation.

Concentrate On The Love Between Each Other

When you're married or love a person, you should concentrate only there, and it will bring you some kind of bliss as well. It will add flavor to your practicing life and this is also one kind of practice. If you concentrate on one thing, if you concentrate on the love between each other it is also a kind of concentration, and it brings you happiness. Whatever brings you true happiness and pure happiness is also adding to your spiritual practice. Whatever strays from that is negative. So the precept is not that you keep it physically only, because there are thoughts, deeds and speech. Everything springs from the thought as well. So if you don't think, you will not do. If you don't think first, you can't speak.

Therefore you have to keep the precept from the thought already. Always guide your thought, carefully where it should go. Tell your thought that this is not possible to think that way, it's not proper, you should not even think about it; and slowly your mind will listen to your direction. That's how you master yourself. Not eager to become a master of the multitude and teach disciples and all that, but to master your own horses within, make then go where you want them to go. That's how your life becomes more powerful. You know yourself you are the master of your own destiny and direction. That's when you feel strong, powerful, confident; are able to look even God directly in the eyes and tell Hirm I have nothing to fear. (Applause)

Give Your Partner Love And Encouragement

If you give your life partner, beloved one or married person your true love and encouragement, day by day you will discover that person grows in different beauties and virtues. Then you will enjoy more and more that companionship, instead of diverting your attention to another direction, giving love to the wrong person. You are not supposed to love that person, or the neighbor's wife, giving all your virtues, attention and blessing to that person. Then you will see your partner more and more ugly everyday. You don't give her any blessing. You have no contact with each other. You have no supporting energy with each other. Of course, she will become less and less attractive, and further and further away from you.

Keeping The Precepts From Your Heart

I am telling you very bluntly that you must keep the precepts from inside your heart, not the physical. Physical is the least, and is the last thing. Sometime the physical precept was broken, but the true precept wasn't. It has happened too. Like you are forced to steal, or you are forced to do something, but act ually in your heart you are pure. That could be too, and that is excusable. That's why Jesus said: "Whoever steals for the family's bread, that person is not guilty." Now you understand. (Audience: Yes.)

Respect Your Partner

We practice because we want to be free from worry. We want to be free from anxiety and all kinds of binding in this world. So if a true love between woman or wife could afford you also happiness and forever everyday like this, this also is a kind of bonus. So don't look down upon your partners, but respect them like Gods and Goddesses. And that's the only God and Goddesses to worship beside the Supreme Master Ching Hai Supreme Master Tse. (Master laughs and audience applauds.)

In India when Shiva was alive, he taught one hundred and twenty extra kinds of practices for lay people. One of them included love between husband and wife. Like when you embrace each other you should just merge yourself in the embrace, become one with it, with the feeling. Then you'll be oblivious to all kinds of trouble, at least at that time. That's why in this life people are so attached to sex; because it affords them temporary bliss, and affords them ability to forget all the troubles, sorrows and worries for the moment. What the people of this world do not realize is that it's not sex alone that brings you lasting happiness. It is the love before, between and after that, that makes this pleasure gift from God meaningful, and a responsibility with each other to raise children into other Gods and Goddesses to walk on this earth. Altogether, all this, all the shared happiness, joy and responsibility makes the life of a husband and wife beautiful.

Treasure The Real Bliss Of True Love

That's why the people who go out and seek all kinds of short time pleasure, they often end up in sorrow, empty; so they will not even respect women and do not know the real bliss of true love. Those people who have a lot of women or men, you ask them whether they're happy. No. The more they have, the less they're happy; because they do not know how to save the bliss to enjoy it in one time. They just spend it here and there -- one penny here, one penny there; and they have nothing left. If they saved their money, they could buy an airplane ticket, go somewhere, have a holiday, see something different, and learn and enjoy the whole relaxed two weeks, three weeks together, with their friends or alone, something like that. But everyday they spend, spend, spend. They have nothing left and they can not do anything. They can not buy a house, they cannot do anything at all. The capital is the same, but they spend it in a different way. So they never can enjoy the happiness of the concentrated love and pleasure. If you truly want to enjoy, say the pleasure gift of sex, then you must be very abstinent. You must respect abstinence, then you can enjoy better.

Obesity A New Virus

Some people, they eat very little; but they get fat all the time. And some people they eat a lot and just remain like a toothpick. That doctor, he happened to find that fat people are affected by this virus not by their food. Therefore a lot of people go on a diet, do exercises, do all kinds of things, and they're still fat. So people think they're cheating, they don't eat properly, or they eat behind the closet or something. (Audience laughs.) It is not true. He found that this virus just collects fat or even makes more fat, and then stores it forever. Normally the fat if it is too much, needs to be thrown into the blood stream and then go out by different means. But this virus

Perhaps they already have found some solution for it. They hope to openly mass-produce these things then the fat people will have good news, will have their figures back again. And the worse thing about it is that if you go near fat people, you will get fat. That's what I've read in the report.

I think the best proof for us is the Quan Yin meditation. If we meditate more, then we "proof" ourselves, fat-proof, skinny-proof, water-proof, fire-proof. Otherwise this world is terrible. Anything contaminates you, even fat. Can't believe it.
